Born Of Osiris Streaming New Song

Born of Osiris will release a new full-length album on August 20th and you can hear the new track "Machine" below.

Look for the band performing on this summer's Rockstar Mayhem Festival, which kicks off this Sat, June 29th. Lee McKinney (guitars) states:

"We couldn't be more excited to not only have a new record coming out this summer, but to have a new single available in time for the start of Mayhem Fest! 'Machine' to me is just a straight up in your face Born of Orisis song. It's got an epic intro, intense orchestral content, heavy keyboard breakdowns, a great structure, impactful vocals and of course some gnarly guitar shred. It definitely hits hard from beginning to end. We can't wait to head out and play it live all summer long." More...

Born Of Osiris To Enter The Studio

Born of Osiris will be entering the studio to begin tracking a new effort next week on April 1st, and the band will kick off a worldwide touring cycle to support the release later this summer on the massive Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. For additional information stay tuned to the band's Facebook profile.

Lee McKinney (guitars) states: “We're excited to announce we'll be entering the studio April 1st to begin the recording process for this record. We will be tracking with Nick Sampson (Asking Alexandria), and Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada, Emmure) will be handling the mixing process. We are very excited to be working with these guys.

“As for the album's content, we're gonna be doing 6 string and 7 string songs on the same recording for the first time ever. Aside from that, we've been more focused for this record than any of the previous. We've had 2+ years to write, critique, adjust and learn these songs, which is just something we haven't had in the past with our intense touring schedule. Like the last album (The Discovery), we've been living and writing this album together and it's made for the best, most focused Born of Osiris album to date.

“What makes this release even more special to us is the fact that we'll be releasing it on the one and only Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour this summer. We get to share the stage with some of the biggest and most talented names in metal. There's no other better way to possibly start this record cycle. We will see you all soon.”

More Bands Announced For NEM&HF 2013

The latest round of bands confirmed to storm the stage at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival XV has today been announced. The fresh additions to the brutal three-day event include Alleageon, Alpha & Omega, Born Low, MurderDeathKill and Dark Sermon, as well as Baltimore hardcore squad Trapped Under Ice and New Jersey’s renowned explosive tech metal practitioners The Dillinger Escape Plan.

A tour based around the fest has also been created by MassConcerts, something they’ve done for the past four years. Dubbed Mission Quest to Metal Fest, the trek was formed in order to help a few of the bands get to and from NEMHF this year. This year the tour unifies Expire, Alpha & Omega, Power Trip, Twitching Tongues, and Antagonist A.D. on a ten-date assault leading up to their individual performances at the festival.

Stated promoter Scott Lee on the formation of this built-in tour: “We are really proud of this year’s lineup, and to bring these bands together leading up to it. The tour includes Expire who played last year, California powerhouse Alpha & Omega, Power Trip who is an up-and-coming hardcore band from Texas, and Twitching Tongues. We're also very excited to have Antagonist A.D. from New Zealand; they are the band coming from the farthest away for the fest. Pretty happy to have them; we love putting foreign bands on the bill!” More...

Born Of Osiris Announces New Tour Dates

Born of Osiris will cap off 2012 with a co-headlining tour alongside Unearth starting November 1st. The month-long trek also features The Contortionist, Obey The Brave, and Wolves At The Gate. The group is also close to completing the songwriting process for the follow-up to "The Discovery" album and will enter the studio in the spring with Nick Sampson to track the new effort.

Born of Osiris is excited to announce the band's return to Europe on February 22nd with After The Burial, Monuments, and The Haarp Machine. Details are available below.

Lee McKinney (guitars) states: “I would say the direction of this album is along the lines of The Discovery, but definitely a lot heavier and a lot more focused when it comes to song structure. We're trying to give each song a powerful, thematic feel. This next record takes all of the best aspects of The Discovery and develops the ideas even further. We already have so much material that we plan on revising and refining over the next few months. While we do that we will still continue to write more and in the end I think we'll pick the strongest 10-12 songs so we can drop the best Born Of Osiris record to date.

“On March 22nd we start recording the record with Nick Sampson. We're very excited to work with him in the studio. He's a shredder and aside from that a great engineer/producer. Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, Emmure) will be handling the mixing of the project. We felt he was the best for the job since we have a lot of electronic elements in our music and he seems to be the master of all that these days. Not to mention he obviously has insanely tight production and mixing skills. The disc is set for a summer release and we can't wait for everyone to see what we've created.

“In other news, we're heading out this week on our co-headliner with Unearth. It's such an honor to be able to bring them with us on tour. I remember being 16 delivering pizzas blasting The Oncoming Storm in my car. We've toured with them before a couple times as well and they are some of the most fun dudes to be on the road with. Also rounding out the tour is The Contortionist, Obey the Brave and Wolves at the Gate. People can expect to see our longest live set yet. We're playing songs off of The Discovery that we have yet to play on any other tours. Come hang with us!” More...

Emmure Strikes Out At The All Stars Tour

I sadly arrived late for the show and missed all, but seven of the bands playing. Granted, I've never listened to the openers, since the majority of the bands were hardcore; a scene that I'm familiar with, but not a part of. This lead to an incredibly awkward experience, since I was immersing myself in a completely different culture.

After finishing up an upcoming interview with In This Moment, I entered the Congress Theater to watch Iwrestledabearonce. Having been chafed by Krysta Cameron's rabid parakeet screams when I saw the band play with The Dillinger Escape Plan, I was hoping that she may have improved as a vocalist during the past year on tour. Sadly, she's just as annoying as ever in a live setting, while the actual music remains unfocused, disjointed, and truly unfunny. Comedy metal can indeed work and Iwrestledabearonce should quit it with the funny sound effects and instead move on to having the humor come from their lyrics and stage presence. GWAR and Cannabis Corpse manage to be genuinely funny in an over-the-top way without annoying me because they don't bombard me with cheesy sound effects every ten seconds. It's a shame that Iwrestledabearonce still don’t comprehend taste and only make music for their own amusement instead of that of their highly annoyed audience.

In This Moment were up next and I have to say that ITM put on a great show. Maria's voice simply works better in a live setting than it does in the studio and it's a shame that they went from headlining to only playing five songs after only a few short months. Much like my experience with Warbringer and Job For a Cowboy, In This Moment won me over in the live arena. The fact that they put on such a great performance was sadly probably wasted on playing for a hardcore crowd who didn't appreciate their music, since much of the audience had left the venue during their set.

Next up was For Today, who I'd never listened to before, but managed to put on a good show despite being pretty generic modern hardcore. While the band doesn’t break any new ground or do much to stand out, they don't annoy me as much as most contemporary hardcore does. If I were more into the neo post-hardcore scene, I'd probably give the band a few more listens. Still, they're good for what they are and anyone into contemporary hardcore should give them a shot.
