Cardiac Arrest, Gravehill, and Hod will be touring together as the "Campaign For Death Metal Purity" 2010 tour. Ibex Moon Records issued the following statement about the tour:
"Death Metal has grown weak and soft… with the infiltration of hard-core breakdowns; gravity blasts, emo singing, and MTV saturated 'fashion agenda'…what a sad affair when Death Metal becomes another genre of pop music!" Ibex Moon Records would like to invite the True Death Metal Elite to a series of select dates across the United States of America! A Tour designed for the sole purpose of taking Death Metal back to its roots, a time when metal wasn’t a fashion statement and Death Metal came from some place much more sinister and far more deadly!"
John McEntee, Ibex Moon Records label mastermind and guitarist/vocalist for Incantation, had this to say about the tour: “With all the trends in metal these days and all these fest type tours that mostly only highlight the flavor of the month bands. We wanted to put together a tour with 3 strong Death Metal bands that all in their own right have proven themselves to be true warriors of death! Each band has forged their own legacy by being 100% true to themselves and it shows with their intense live performances. This is the time to take back our underground scene and show your support to some of Death Metal’s top extreme bands. Death Metal is Eternal Under the Ibex Moon." More...

This will be their first Texas shows ever, so everyone needs to come out and represent Texas Metal Pride. Also on the tour will be new Deathgasm Records recording artists Blaspherian! Anyone who has seen this band live knows what a totally heavy death metal performance they will bring. Death Metal done the old true way! Hod bassist Derrick Rivers has announced his departure from the band to focus his efforts on battling cancer. Vocalist Beer Reebs shares the following information about Rivers, as well as other Hod happenings:
“Our original bassist Dirty Derrick has been battling cancer and thus far has been successful. However, he was recently informed that it had come back in his liver and possibly his lungs and will begin treatment for it again within a few weeks. He’s decided in the interest of his health, that he will be hanging up the bass to focus on taking care of himself. Although the band hates to see him go we all completely understand and support his decision to do so. His last performance with Hod will be this Saturday, November 14th, at The Goregrowler's Ball 3 in San Antonio, TX at The Rock Bottom Tattoo Bar. Taking Dirty Derek's place on the bludgeoning four strings will be Trans Am from the Austin, TX based grindcore band, Pleasant Valley. His first live performance with Hod will be Saturday December 5th at Downtown Music in Littlerock, AR with Deadbird and Vore.
“In other Hod news, I’m pleased to announce that the band is four songs into the second full length album and follow up to Serpent. It is scheduled for recording in early 2010 and set to be recorded at Raging Steel Fury Studios in Austin, TX by Ignitor/Agony Column guitarist Stuart 'Batlord' Lawrence. It is set to be mixed and mastered at Sweden's Necromorbus Studios and released by Ibex Moon Records. Finally, 2010 also has some heavy show activity coming up. We have shows lined up with bands like Gravehill, Godless Rising, Blaspherian, and legendary crossover band D.R.I., to name a few.”
One of the most comprehensive southern metal documentaries ever made is coming in 2010. Appropriately dubbed "Slow Southern Steel," the 80+ minute film is executive produced by Karim Khan (I'm Better Than Everyone Records) and directed by Rwake vocalist CT and David Lipke with the additional and integral assistance of George Hancock, Alix Petrovich and Beer Wolf guitarist Christian Sweeney (who will be releasing a paperback version of the production) among many others.
"Slow Southern Steel" peers into the world of true southern metal/doom through live footage and personal interviews; CT's devout commitment/knowledge/love of the topic at hand bringing the movie to life in a way few first-time directors can. At press time, the film was still being shot and thus far, featured bands will include (in alphabetical order): A Hanging, ASG, Baron Grod, Beaten Back To Pure, Beer Wolf, Black Skies, Black Tusk, Blackblood Division, Blood Of The Sun, Collapsar, Colossus, Cough, Dark Castle, Deadbird, Dead-I-On, Dixie Witch, Doomsayer, Eyehategod, Flesh Parade, Haarp, Hawg Jaw, HOD, Hope And Suicide, Hostile Apostle, House Of Lightning, In The Lurch, Jucifer, Ketea, Khann, Kylesa, Mala Suerte, Music Hates You, Parasytic, Queen Beast, Royal Thunder, Rwake, Seahag, SeaWitch, Sourvein, Speedealer, Spickle, Suplecs, Subrig Destroyer, The Devil And The Sea, The Dumps, The Roller, The Unbeheld, Vessel Of The Divine, Weedeater, Withered and Zoroaster.

They will forge a new standard on the future of extreme metal. I look forward to a monstrous debut album. HOD will for sure be a metal force to be reckoned with!”
