Megadeth Issues New Road Report

Megadeth's David Ellefson has checked in with the following update about their Mexican tour dates:

"What an amazing welcome to Mexico this evening...14,000 people packed in the arena thrashing and having the time of their lives! This was a great way to kick off the Latin America tour. We'd played this arena before to some great crowds; once with Judas Priest (when Ripper was in the band) and once with Motley Crue. But tonight was a new level....something really special, and especially to play the 'Rust In Peace' set for our fans here in Mexico City.

"I brought my authentic Mexican soccer jersey with me from home so I could where it tonight for the encore. It was a gift from a fan a few years back so thought it would be appropriate to sport it for such an amazing crowd. Tomorrow we're off to Brazil to start the South American portion of the tour. Good night and Muchas Gracias Mexico!"

Dave Mustaine Finishes Memoir

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following update about finishing his new book:

"Droogies! Wow! What a week! I have been running and gunning since we got back from this tour. From the tour bus to the studio to my house, and add in two funerals, several Doctors' appointments, a trip to the Dentist, therapist, and a priest and that was my first week back.

"Of course there is all of the work that we are doing here at Megadeth.com, with the Megadeth Fan Club, Megadeth Radio, TheLiveLine.com, the Studio and Mustaine Music Academy, my new book, 'MUSTAINE: A heavy Metal Memoir,' and anything else I can sink my teeth in to, just in case I get bored in-between tours. But you know all of that. So, I want to tell you that we are getting ready to leave for our most expansive and longest ever Megadeth Tour in South and Central America.

"I am still deciding if we are going to have meet and greets down there because, as you can prolly guess, not everyone in the MFC is a fan, and LA may have pretty much sealed it for everyone else. I mean I know that the M&G attendees read the instructions that say ONLY ONE THING, and sadly most of them completely disregard them, ultimately ruining it for us all. Then there is the getting pawed at (which I hate!), which can only be made up for with the good humor upon hearing their excuses why they should be different from all of you Droogs with honor - who can read. What would you do? More...

New Megadeth Video Available Online

"The Right To Go Insane," the new video from Megadeth, can be seen for the first time at Noisecreep.com. Check it out at Noisecreep.com.

The story behind the video: On May 17, 1995, a U.S. Army veteran and unemployed plumber in San Diego, Shawn Timothy Nelson, snapped and stole an M60 Patton tank from a nearby National Guard Armory. He drove down the highway, crushing cars, fire hydrants and an RV before he was stopped and killed by police.

The headline-grabbing story forms the basis of Megadeth's new video for "The Right to Go Insane," the second single from the band's acclaimed 2009 disc "Endgame." In the clip, which surprisingly features no performance footage, frontman Dave Mustaine is filmed sneaking onto a military facility, stealing a tank and playing crash-up derby through the streets. Video footage from the cockpit shows him singing and laughing, while shots from a surveillance helicopter depict a missile gunsight tracking him as he pillages. More...

Megadeth Checks In With Tour Report

Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following statement about the band's ‘Rust In Peace’ 20th anniversary tour:

"Droogies! For just one second I wished you could feel what I felt whilst standing on the stage of the Hollywood Palladium this past Wednesday, March 31st, 2010, which was the end of our Rust In Peace 20th Anniversary Tour in North America.

"I was overwhelmed with a flood of emotions, ranging from complete euphoria to outrage to shyness to inebriating pride! You see, David Ellefson called this one correctly when he said, ‘LA was going to be our homecoming.’ Man, I saw friends from the very beginning, our former managers, agents, lawyers, business managers, publicists, and the security pit was absolutely insane when we went out. I was told that there was 34 photographers in there and they were all top notch photogs so we couldn't scratch any of them.

"Probably the most rewarding thing was seeing our old manager Ron Laffitte and our old agent Andy Somers. They seemed genuinely happy for us, and they couldn't believe what a hunk Justis, the little boy they knew as an infant, turned out to be. Remember Justis was just born when Ron and Andy handled us and now he is 18 years old, as tall as me, way better looking (but that ain't hard). I also got the pleasure of bragging about how my new manager Mark Adelman and my new agent Scott Sokol have done such a great job getting us back on top - this was not a dig - it was just a very happy kid telling his friends that he is finally happy again. Megadeth to Play "Rust in Peace" in South America

Dave Mustaine has revealed in his latest TheLIVELine "audioblog" that Megadeth will play its classic 1990 album, "Rust In Peace," in its entirety on the upcoming tour of Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Mustaine comments: "We are so excited to be heading down to South America. We're gonna keep playing the 'Rust In Peace' record on our way down there. We haven't decided what we're gonna do in Europe yet because we feel that if we continue to do this, we're gonna distract ourselves from 'Endgame,' and also we're not gonna be able to play anything else BUT ['Rust In Peace'] in some situations if a festival [our allotted set time] is only 45 minutes."

You can listen to Dave's entire two-minute TheLIVELine message here.

Megadeth Comments On Fan's Death

Megadeth has issued the following statement about the death of fan Jeffrey Hendricks:

"Megadeth would like to send out their sincere condolences to the family and friends of a fallen Droogie, Jeffrey Hendricks. Jeffrey passed away on Friday, March 26 after a battle with cancer. Jeffrey was to attend the Megadeth concert and meet 'n greet in Memphis, Tennessee on March 23 but went into critical condition the night before and was not able to attend. After hearing the news that Jeffrey wouldn't be able to attend the show, Dave Mustaine and the band gave Jeffrey a very special phone call.

"Jeffrey had met the band at a Megadeth concert in Knoxville in November 2009. The family has expressed their gratitude to Dave and the band for meeting and spending time with Jeffrey last November and for calling him Tuesday. They said that getting to meet and talk with the band really brightened the last six months of Jeffrey’s life, and they’ll always be extremely grateful for it."

Megadeth Issues Road Report

Megadeth bassist David Ellefson has checked in from the road with the following update:

"Greetings Everyone! Just finished our show in Austin, TX tonight...was fantastic and huge. The SXSW music convention just finished last week so I figured everyone would still be hung over but the town was alive and our show was full of VERY enthusiastic fans. It was good to be back in town again and we broke out 'The Right To Go Insane' for the first time ever. The new video is looking great and should all be launching as the next single shortly. A ton of great stuff brewing. As you saw on the homepage I conducted an interview for Megadeth Radio with Ron McGovney (original METALLICA bassist) while we were in Asheville, NC this past week. In fact, I've done interviews with our friends in EXODUS and TESTAMENT as well. Those should be airing soon.

"Tune in to hear the SIRIUS 'Liquid Metal' show interview with Dave and I this weekend, too. Our friend Jose Mangin (who conducted the interview) posted his video of us testing out his famous tacos he kindly made and brought to us at the Scranton, PA show. Good backstage fun, especially if you were hungry!

"We are in the final week of the RIP North American tour and it has been a total blast to be back playing for you all and meeting so many of you in the meet n greets, as well as the fun I see you all having from the stage. Chat with ya soon...."

Megadeth Announces Second Baltimore Show Tonight

Megadeth is going to play a free show tonight (Wednesday, March 17) for last night's ticketbuyers. Doors will be at 7 P.M., the show will be at 8 P.M. Ticketholders from last night's show can pick up tickets for tonight at Will Call by presenting valid ID. Check the Rams Head Live! website for details.

Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:

"Droogies!

"Last night was a difficult night for me, Megs, and for our sold-out audience of Megadeth fans in the great city of Baltimore.

"You see, we were plagued with equipment failures, the ensuing delays getting on-stage (Axl Rose, I am NOT), and the lack of intelligence of the fan who was convinced that throwing his beverage on the console, thus ending our second attempt at taking the stage last night, was an intelligent thing to do.

"In other words, it was the end of the evening for me and for Baltimore.

"Alas, Megaman to the rescue!

"Late last night I was informed of the availability of the venue the following evening, meaning tonight, and I agreed to stay another night here in Baltimore and to try to play this venue one more time.

"If you have a ticket from last night, please check here to see how to proceed tonight.

"Thank you for your understanding, and I want to also thank the building, its staff, the security, the promoter and his staff, and most importantly . . . YOU. I will see you tonight!"

Megadeth Checks In From The Road

Megadeth bassist David Ellefson has checked in from their current tour with the following road report:

"Checking in from the tour, here in Saskatoon Canada tonight. The shows have been packed and a real blast. I don't know if its because our fellow Canadian drummer Shawn Drover is in the band but the crowds seem to be exceptionally rowdy and really fired up here north of the border. That's a good thing!

"Dave and I have been doing the past few after-show meet n greets together and the love from the fans has been fantastic. For me, it's been a warm welcome back into the fold. It's also fun to hear stories from so many of them, especially about their experiences with our music and the past Megadeth shows during their lifetimes. Often their tattoos tell the story.... Back in the USA tomorrow and hitting the mid-west and east coast later in the week."

Dave Mustaine Checks In With Band Update

Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine has issued the following update about their upcoming tour dates:

"Droogies! Five more days and I will be standing in a hotel room getting ready to start my day again on the 2010 Megadeth World Tour. I know that I have said that there was not much gas left in the tank over the years, and I know I have a reputation for changing my mind, but we all do that, its just my choices are more public than most of y'alls. I can't tell you how rewarding it has been to make a new start with David Ellefson, and I can't tell you all of the other people that I have come across that are happy for me, for us, for Megadeth, and for Heavy Metal.

"This changing of my mind was not so much 'me' changing my mind, as it was the spiritual renewal of my mind, and having a new outlook on life for the past few years that has really never had a chance to be publicly displayed. This is not about me or my growth, it is about the powerful healing of forgiveness. I am really more grateful for David forgiving me for whatever I had done that harmed him or his family.

"I am very grateful for everything that has led up to us being reunited in the studio and soon to be on the stage. From Southern Gentleman James MacDonough, with his edgy bass playing, unstoppable energy, and his upbeat disposition to James Lomenzo, who also had a unique style of holding down the bottom end, while teaching us all how to continue through the mundane touring life and maintaining class, dignity, and respect for everyone. A Decade Of Metal In Review

On the 31 Dec 1999, no planes came crashing out of the sky, nuclear bombs went off or microwave ovens tried to eat anyone. However, times were about to change and in the metal scene change was already well underway. Let us take a stroll through the decade in metal that was.

Many of the 90s big names like Emperor and Pantera prepared to give their last venomous scream dying off in the wake of ever diminishing interest in the metal scene that had plagued the 90s. In the year 2000 a band named “Limp Bizkit” came out with an album called "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water" and in a storm nu-metal took over the public perception of heavy music, changing the face of metal irreparably. Although nu-metal had already been pioneered by Korn, bands like Deftones, Disturbed, Mudvayne and Linkin Park all had breakout releases in 2000. More...
