Metallica Comments On "Big Four" DVD Release

Metallica has issued the following statement about the "Big Four" show in Bulgaria being released on DVD:

"From Bulgaria to your local theatre to your living room or wherever you might enjoy a little live metal on the screen. You may have heard us say something about a DVD at the end of the satellite broadcast or read it in the internet rumor mill. it's true, there will be a DVD release of the Big 4 show from Sofia, Bulgaria!! We had such an awesome time hanging with Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer and the cameras were already rolling, so why not?

"Here's the scoop: The DVD hits the streets on October 15 in Northern Europe, October 18 in most of the rest of the world, October 19 in North America and the full shows from all four bands will be included in the two disc set along with behind the scenes and interview footage. In addition to the two DVD set and the corresponding Blu-ray, there will be a limited edition 'super deluxe' box set including the DVD set, five CD's with ALL the music, a 24 page booklet, a poster, photos of each band, and a Big 4 guitar pick. The clever title of the DVD is 'The Big 4 Live From Sofia, Bulgaria' (yes, that's really it!!) and you if you're interested in the box set, we'll have a pre-order in the Metallica Store for you shortly."

American Carnage Tour In Chicago Kills Everyone

*Before you start into this report, do yourself a huge favor, scroll to the bottom, see which tour stop is most convenient and buy a ticket. Pay however much you have to. If you like metal, and presumably you do since you are on MetalUnderground.com, then don’t make the biggest mistake of your life and not go – even bigger than the raspberry cosmo you had at Harry’s Drink Shack last Wednesday. And if you already have a ticket, buy another. You’ll need the extra space to clean your melted face and blown mind off the floor.*

Strolling onstage as thrash underdogs to the sounds of “For the Glory Of…,” which is the intro crush from 2009 full length “The Formation of Damnation,” Testament took the stage like a MAC truck pulling to the starting line of a drag race. When the opening chords of “More Than Meets the Eye” hit it was clear we were tied to the tracks at the end of the racecourse and we were going to get run over by a MACK truck. Or something like that anyway. About halfway through the set, it was clear Chuck Billy’s demonspawn roar (which has aged like a fine boxed wine, by the way) had ripped my brains out through my eye sockets, chewed on them for a while, and then jammed them back in through my earhole. The only ones that avoided the carnage were members of the vigorous circle pit, which grew throughout Testament’s 40-minute set and culminated in an impressively large wall-of-death, which Testament built up like fine orchestra conductors and finally set off during the real good head-banging part of set-closing song “The Formation of Damnation.” Leaving the stage, Chuck Billy thanked the crowd for “Kicking Our [Testament’s] Ass.” Well Chuck, thank you for kicking ours. David Ellefson Checks In From "American Carnage"

Megadeth's David Ellefson has checked in from the "American Carnage" tour with the following new road report:

"We're two shows into the 'American Carnage' tour and things are going well after a short break following the Canada tour in late July. Tonight we played at the IZOD Center in New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan, NY. It was a 'who's who' of guests including Eddie Trunk (VH1's 'That Metal Show'), Jose Mangin from Sirius/XM Radio, Rat Skates (formerly of Overkill) and tons of the NJ/NY metal crew from back in the day. It was also arguably one of the best mosh-pits of the tour, too!

"At one point we were all in our dressing room and it hit me that Dave and I were in New York City in 1986 being courted by the major labels (just before we released 'Peace Sells…') when we went to this same arena to see Metallica open for Ozzy on their 'Master of Puppets' tour. I recalled having a really good hang with everyone after the show, including a nice conversation with Cliff Burton in those same dressing rooms. Truly good memories of a time when we were all ramping up to our big days on the early thrash scene. It's good to see it all back in action again with the 'Carnage' tour.

"We all played really great sets tonight and it’s good to be out here kickin-ass out with the fans in the USA again. See you at the show when we hit your city in the coming weeks!"

Dave Mustaine Comments On Book Signings

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following statement about meet and greet signings for his new autobiography:

"Droogies, well, I got the first official American in-store meet ‘n greet for my autobiography done today at the Book Revue bookstore in Huntington, New York and the group of about 300 Droogies that were there were fantastic.

"Of course there were the 'usuals' there that tried to be 'special' but the bookstore took care of things so that it would be cool for everybody and so we could take care of everybody. I just gotta laugh though, watching these bookworms get all bowed up, especially when the 'usuals' are trying to be all 'rebellious' and but I guess even a library has one or two dickweeds to deal with over the course of time.

"I really can't get over how much I enjoyed myself today doing all of the press and promotion around this book. I had just a great, great day today. I look forward to the signing tomorrow again, and if you didn't get a chance to meet me earlier today there in Long Island, please come to the in-store tomorrow. More...
