In Vain is back and ready to release a 3rd attack of progressive extreme metal, mixed and produced by the legendary Jens Bogren (Opeth, Soilwork, Borknagar). "Ænigma" will be released March 11th in Europe, March 8th in Norway and March 15th in Germany and Austria.
The album contains 8 songs of In Vain’s unique trademarked sound and as usual, In Vain has brought some guests along, as “Ænigma” sees appearances by Lazare and Cornelius from Solefald.
Johnar Håland comments: “We had a solid impression of the productions coming out of the Fascination Street Studio, and believed Jens was the right guy to give the music the crystal clear and powerful sound that it demands. Jens did not cut any corners and delivered a production par excellente.”
Robert Høyem designed the cover art on the album, which can be viewed below. You can also find a list of the band's upcoming shows after the jump. More...
Norway's In Vain (not to be confused with the Spanish act of the same name) has released a new music video for the song ”Dark Prophets, Black Hearts” from last album ”Mantra." The video is available for viewing after the jump. Indie Recordings also commented on the band:
"In Vain was formed by J. Haaland and A. Frigstad back in 2003, however the band first saw action during the summer of 2004 when recording their first release. The highly critically acclaimed 'Will the Sun Ever Rise' was a three-track EP of unrelenting atmosphere, aggression and complexity. The release was embraced by metal heads and journalists alike. When their debut album 'The Latter Rain' was released in 2007, the metal world didn't know what hit them.
"With their latest album 'Mantra' with brutal passages, progressive guitar riffs, beautiful melodies and a diverse use of vocal styles, the album continues the progression from 'The Latter Rain.' In Vain took a step up amongst the heavyweights of the genre. This album proves that the band is in it for the long haul. It is safe to say that this is the best In Vain-album to date." More...
Norway's In Vain has issued the following update about working on a new album and releasing a music video:
"We are well under way with the songwriting for the new album. So far J. Haaland has 6 songs more or less finished, and there is more to come. This time around we will do a preproduction, which is new to In Vain.
"Haaland has already started recording the guitars and bass, and Nedland will soon join to add vocals. We will try to finish the preproduction during the summer, and aim to enter the studio this autumn.
"In addition, the whole band will rehearse the songs before entering the studio. Such a creative process is also new to In Vain, as pervious circumstances have made that difficult. We will try out the new songs at a rehearsal weekend in the end of this month. During this get together we will also rehearse with Solefald for our upcoming joint-gigs.
"Other news is that we will soon launch a music video which we did for 'Dark Prophets, Black Hearts' from our album Mantra. Stay tuned.
"Besides this update from In Vain, we encourage you all to check out our allies in the hardcore band From Strength to Strength which contains In Vain members Haaland and Wikstøl. They’re releasing their debut album this year, and rumours say it’s smoking hot!"
In Vain has issued the following announcement about the band's upcoming plans for recording new material and releasing a new music video:
"Regarding the band we are still active, but we've been chilling a bit since our last shows in 2010.
However, 2012 will be a year that will see increased activity from In Vain.
"To kick it off we shot a music video for Dark Prophets, Black Heart (from Mantra) a couple of weekends ago. Should be online in not too long.
"Regarding new songs, J. Haaland has come a long way on writing new material and we expect to enter the studio in 2012 to record our third album. We are also in the process of booking gigs. Interested promoters, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
