Amorphis Replacing Bullet For My Valentine
Finnish melancholic metal masters Amorphis have been confirmed as support for legendary pioneers Iron Maiden during the open air show at the Olympia Stadium in Helsinki, Finland on July 20th, 2013.
Amorphis is stepping in to replace Bullet For My Valentine, which had to cancel. Other bands on the bill are label mates Sabaton and Ghost B.C.
Commented Amorphis founding member and guitarist Esa Holopainen: "Supporting Iron Miaden is going to be one of my personal highlights in Amorphis' career. It's a pretty hard task as generally Iron Maiden fans (including me) are extremely loyal and going for the show just to see Maiden. Anyhow we'll do our best. As our musical roots lie in old Maiden stuff and we are neither wimps nor posers, I don't think that we can go wrong."

Amorphis Reveals New Album Artwork
Finnish metal veterans Amorphis have revealed the front cover artwork for their forthcoming new album, "Circle." You can check it out below. Vocalist Tomi Joutsen explained the cover thusly: "The mystic, androgynous person on the cover represents a spiritual guide. This character was sent from another time and place to help the album’s protagonist find a new path for his life."
This guide was previously mentioned by Amorphis lyricist Pekka Kainulainen in his summary of the album concept: "The protagonist has been dealt a bad hand at birth. He’s always felt himself an outsider with strong potential to become marginalized. Through an accident, after a crisis, he finds a connection with his inner powers. A guide is sent to him, from another time and place. He gets a chance to take hold of his own life and change his destiny. From the past of Carelian Finland he finds his own spiritual tribe and the power to turn the course of his doomed life. This is a story of survival."
The band also revealed the tracklisting for "Circle," which as follows:
"Shades Of Gray"
"Mission"
"The Wanderer"
"Narrow Path"
"Hopeless Days"
"Nightbird's Song"

Amorphis Comments On New Album's Concept
Finnish masters of melacholic dark metal, Amorphis, announced yesterday that the title of the band's upcoming album will be "Circle." The new album is set for release April 19th, 2013 through Nuclear Blast.
A short summary about the album's concept that spreads throughout the lyrics by Pekka Kainulainen, who wrote the lyrics for the most recent Amorphis albums, can be read below:
"The protagonist has been dealt a bad hand at birth. He’s always felt himself an outsider with strong potential to become marginalized. Through an accident, after a crisis, he finds a connection with his inner powers. A guide is sent to him, from some other time and place. He gets a chance to take hold of his own life and change his destiny. From the past of Carelian Finland he finds his own spiritual tribe and the power to turn the course of his doomed life. This is a story of survival."
Singer Tomi Joutsen adds about the album's title: "Circle represents integrity. Back in the days, when there was something special to talk about, wise men used to sit in circle. Not everyone was invited to join them. But in this story, the protagonist was invited among the wise men's circle."
The "Circle" album follows previous release "The Beginning of Times" (reviewed here), and further details will be revealed in the coming months.
