Gama Bomb Added To Bloodstock Lineup
There’s yet more thrash for Bloodstock with Northern Irish upstarts Gama Bomb landing an opening slot on the Ronnie James Dio mainstage. The band is looking forward to churning up the Catton Park turf, commenting:
“Bloodstock: it’s just like Woodstock, but for heavy metal types, and replacing the love and peace with chips and Carling! And Slayer! Our UK fans have been asking for this for years, and now the dream is real. So pack your tent, back up your arse with bananas and send the word – The G-Bomb are comin’ to Bloodstock!"
The band’s fourth album, "The Terror Tapes," will be released next Monday 22nd April on AFM Records. Check out the new video for "Terrorscope" right here.
British heavy metal standard bearers Beholder also step in to an early mainstage slot on Saturday. Frontman Simon Hall says “For Beholder to actually be asked to do this, without me dropping to my knees and pleading like a bitch is a true acknowledgment of where the band is right now. To be on the best Bloodstock line-up ever is something we’re not going to approach lightly, and on Saturday 10th August, let’s show the rest of the world how true British Metal fans rule all!!”

Amorphis Reveals New Album Artwork
Finnish metal veterans Amorphis have revealed the front cover artwork for their forthcoming new album, "Circle." You can check it out below. Vocalist Tomi Joutsen explained the cover thusly: "The mystic, androgynous person on the cover represents a spiritual guide. This character was sent from another time and place to help the album’s protagonist find a new path for his life."
This guide was previously mentioned by Amorphis lyricist Pekka Kainulainen in his summary of the album concept: "The protagonist has been dealt a bad hand at birth. He’s always felt himself an outsider with strong potential to become marginalized. Through an accident, after a crisis, he finds a connection with his inner powers. A guide is sent to him, from another time and place. He gets a chance to take hold of his own life and change his destiny. From the past of Carelian Finland he finds his own spiritual tribe and the power to turn the course of his doomed life. This is a story of survival."
The band also revealed the tracklisting for "Circle," which as follows:
"Shades Of Gray"
"Mission"
"The Wanderer"
"Narrow Path"
"Hopeless Days"

Amorphis Comments On New Album's Concept
Finnish masters of melacholic dark metal, Amorphis, announced yesterday that the title of the band's upcoming album will be "Circle." The new album is set for release April 19th, 2013 through Nuclear Blast.
A short summary about the album's concept that spreads throughout the lyrics by Pekka Kainulainen, who wrote the lyrics for the most recent Amorphis albums, can be read below:
"The protagonist has been dealt a bad hand at birth. He’s always felt himself an outsider with strong potential to become marginalized. Through an accident, after a crisis, he finds a connection with his inner powers. A guide is sent to him, from some other time and place. He gets a chance to take hold of his own life and change his destiny. From the past of Carelian Finland he finds his own spiritual tribe and the power to turn the course of his doomed life. This is a story of survival."
Singer Tomi Joutsen adds about the album's title: "Circle represents integrity. Back in the days, when there was something special to talk about, wise men used to sit in circle. Not everyone was invited to join them. But in this story, the protagonist was invited among the wise men's circle."
The "Circle" album follows previous release "The Beginning of Times" (reviewed here), and further details will be revealed in the coming months.

Amorphis Comments On Upcoming Album Recording
Finnish forerunners of melancholic dark metal, Amorphis, recently announced that they will enter the studio in September to record their yet-untitled 11th album. The follow-up to 2011’s "The Beginning Of Times" (reviewed here) will be produced and mixed by Hypocrisy and Pain mastermind Peter Tägtgren.
“We had to face the fact that if we want to develop our music and sound we need a producer who has a vision and whom we can accept as an authority,” commented Amorphis guitarist and founding member Esa Holopainen. “I know that we’re not the most flexible guys when it comes to letting outsiders into our camp for telling us how to do things. We spent one evening at our management office, talking about the right producer and the recording sessions in general. As usual, the best decisions are not far to seek. We've been talking to Peter about him producing Amorphis for ages. I think the first time we spoke about this was when we met first at the Nuclear Blast festival tour in 1994, and it was in Helsinki around a year ago when we last speculated about the idea. We've been following Peter's career - he's developed as a musician and especially as a producer over the years. Plus he's one of the true survivors from the 90's death metal scene who is still around just like us, so we share kind of an old school mental level.”
The recordings are set to take place in the famous premises of Petrax Studio in Hollola and 5K Studios in Helsinki. Esa explains: “We’ve decided to record in Finland so that Peter can come here to escape to Petrax in the countryside with us, in order to record all the drums plus some additional lines. Later on, we’ll continue in Helsinki at 5K Studios to lay down the rest of the material. The mixing will be done with Peter in the Swedish Abyss Studios. We’ll keep you posted about how the sessions proceed!” More...
