Denmark's Svartsot has issued the following announcement about gearing up to enter the recording studio:
"After spending the past year or so on writing new tracks, we will be heading back into the studio from the second week of March to record our third album. The recording will once again take place at Lasse Lammert’s LSD Tonstudio in Lübeck, Germany, and will include around 10 tracks of the strongest material we’ve written so far.
"The theme of the album is based on the plague epidemic that swept through Europe during the middle of the 14th century, and that would later become known as the Black Death. We feel that this lyrical concept aptly fits the way the music has turned out for this album – so more medieval flavours and intricacies can be expected this time round.
"A July release for the album is expected, and we will post updates over the next few weeks as work on the album progresses. So stay tuned for more news."
Denmark's Svartsot has posted two new songs online. the songs, "På Odden af hans hedenske Sværd" and "Kromandens Datter," can be heard on the band's MySpace page. The songs come off of their latest album, "Mulmets Viser."
Danish folk metallers Svartsot are set to release their new album "Mulmets Viser" via Napalm Records on March 26th, 2010. The new song "Aethelred" off the upcoming album can currently be heard through the band's MySpace page. Svartsot has also issued the following track-by-track break down of the album:
"Mulmets Viser - Songs of the Darkness: Darkness falls and another day’s toil has come to an end. Tables of food are borne out from the feasting hall and horns filled with golden ale handed round. Then begins the telling of legends and singing of verse; tales of noble heroes and mighty kings, great feats and hard-fought battles, songs of life and death, of drinking and feasting, ballads of buxom wenches and wanton maids and myths of mystical beings who work their evil enchantment upon the lives of men. The skalds tales continue until all have drunk more than their fill...
"Æthelred: The album’s first track is about the English king Æthelred II (the Unready or Ill-advised) and his ascension to the throne. In the 10th Century his kingdom was constantly raided and harassed by the Vikings and after losing a number of conflicts he resorted to paying the Danegeld: offering the Danes 10,000 pounds of silver to go away. This merely encouraged them to return on more and more occasions to collect greater and greater sums. More...
Danish folk metallers Svartsot, who recently had several members leave the band, have issued the following announcement about securing a new line up:
"After having been in contact with a few vocalists and trying one or two of them out, we have finally found one just two weeks before the first show with the new line up! The new man is Thor Bager of Disintergrated (DK) who only had a week to prepare himself for the first rehearsal. We have just held a rehearsal weekend with him and he has settled quite well into the band already.
"We can also announce that drummer Danni Lyse Jelsgaard has now joined the band on a permanent basis. Work on the new material has already started, and we will concentrate on this over the next few months. We hope to enter the studio as soon as the material is ready and all the formal procedures have been sorted. We'd like to thank everyone who has contacted us, both fans and musicians, for your support. Cheers, and stay folk metal!"
Folk/Viking metal band Svartsot is seeking three new members after losing their bassist, guitarist, and vocalist. The band issued the following statement:
"After the departure of some of the members last week, Svartsot is now looking for new musicians:
Rhythm guitarist: competent guitarist, preferably baritone/7-string (standard B-tuning). Some knowledge of folk music would be an advantage.
Bassist: competent bassist, preferably 5-string (standard B-tuning). Again some knowledge of folk music would be an advantage.
Vocalist: versatile and competent vocalist, preferably with a range from growl to singing.
Previous live work is a must, and studio work an advantage in all cases. We have concerts booked for the spring, ande are working on new material for the follow up to Ravnenes Saga. So please, no time-wasters.
