Latest Ipsissimus News
Below is our complete Ipsissimus news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
The New Haven, CT based blasphemers Ipsissimus have selected the track "The Third Secret of Fatima" as the first single off the band's Metal Blade debut, "The Way of Descent" (out May 24). The track can be heard exclusively on Stereogum's metal column Haunting the Chapel at this location.
Drummer Haimatokharmes comments on the first single, "One of the songs Metal Blade will be promoting for the album is The Third Secret of Fatima. We are especially proud of this one on account of its synthesis of blast, melody, ritual drums, all played in the old fashion. Longtime fans know it from our self-released 'Fatima EP' and I must say it is the song people usually tell us is their favorite out of the trinity. The lyrics are a collaborative effort (written in English and Coptic), but they are straight old-school Satanism, a blend of blasphemy and devil-worship. Bless!"
The track listing for "The Way of Descent" is as follows:
1. The First Secret of Fatima
2. Monakhourgia / The Prince of Tyre
3. The Second Secret of Fatima
4. The Alchemist's Goatthrone
5. The Third Secret of Fatima
6. Hodos Autapophaseos
The New Haven, CT based black metal band Ipsissimus is currently putting the finishing touches on the band’s Metal Blade debut, "The Way of Descent," which will be released in the spring.
Drummer Haimatokharmes has just issued the following update: "Ipsissimus' debut album with Metal Blade will be entitled The Way of Descent - the title aims to encapsulate the lyrical matter of the new songs, which deal with various katagogic themes in Gnostic, Luciferian, and Merkavah traditions as applied to Left Hand ethics and praxis. We finished the recording in October and the beginning of November at Sonic Environments Studios with our 'sonic alchemist,' (producer and mixer) Jeff Weed.
"It's an interesting sound, at turns raw and filthy, yet also warm and spacious, which I suppose is fitting for hymns to the abyss. Expect some traditional black, melodic riffage à la the 'Fatima' material as well as the occasional avant-garde element - I believe this will be the first black metal album to employ a waterphone."
Ipsissimus will be providing direct support for Toxic Holocaust on Jan. 13th, 2011, at Daniel St. in Milford, CT. The band will also be taking part in day one of Boston's "No Life Fest" at the Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain on Saturday, March 5th and playing the Union Pool in Brooklyn, NY with The Secret and The Funeral Pyre on Sunday, March 27.
New Haven, Connecticut black metallers Ipsissimus have announced their signing with California based Metal Blade Records. The signing comes in time for the band to record their debut full length release and first for Metal Blade Records. Ipsissimus will enter Sonic Environments in Bloomfield, Connecticut to finish the as yet untitled debut release, which will include the EP "Three Secrets of Fatima" in the tracklisting.
Connecicut black metal power trio IPSISSIMUS, whose lineup includes ex-CAPHARNAUM/CATALYST guitarist Ryan Adams (a.k.a. His Emissary), recently entered the studio to record its "Three Secrets of Fatima" debut EP, which the band intends to self-release in a limited, specially-packaged edition while it decides upon a label for licensing/distribution. According to a press release, this CD "promises to be a landmark of tenchical religious black metal, with themes drawn from drummer Haimatokharmes doctoral studies at a prestigious Ivy League university."
In the band's less-than-one-year existence, IPSISSIMUS has performed with scene luminaries such as NACHTMYSTIUM, ENSLAVED, DARK FUNERAL, UNLEASHED, BELPHEGOR and BAPHOMETS HORNS.
IPSISSIMUS intends for its February 6, 2008 date with ROTTING CHRIST, IMMOLATION, BELPHAGOR and AVERSE SEFIRA to coincide with the release of the new EP — to be followed by a live ritual featuring fellow Connecticut hatemongers BAPHOMETS HORNS.
