Slaves not only to the sword, but the road as well, the Los Angeles-based metal act Exmortus refuses to rest and just announced a fall tour in support of Marty Friedman on the legendary guitarist’s first North American tour in 12 years.
The 21-date tour will kick off in Baltimore on Sept. 9. Says guitarist David Rivera, “This tour is going to be insane! Touring with one of my idols is unreal!“
But that’s not all, folks: the band will continue to shred faces and guitars alike as while sampling new material from an upcoming album — which was recently completed recording at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with Zack Ohren (Suffocation, Immolation).
Exmortus' forthcoming album will mark the band’s sophomore release for Prosthetic Records, and the follow-up to 2014's “Slave to the Sword.” It sees the addition of bassist Michael Cosio (ex-Abysmal Dawn) to the group’s existing line-up of Conan (vocals/guitars), Mario Moreno (drums) and Rivera.
Moreno commented on the new album,“Writing and recording this record was no easy task, but we got through it and are extremely happy with the end result. It’s a ‘metal buffet’ with a little something for everyone to enjoy. Getting the chance to record with Zack again was great, especially to be tracking in a bigger studio than the last album. A tedious process but fulfilling none the less. Hard to believe we spent half a month tracking for this album. I’m confident in saying that this is the best Exmortus album to date. You can groove, headbang and air guitar to it, what’s not to love!?” More...
The Los Angeles-based extreme shred powerhouse Exmortus is returning to Sharkbite Studios with producer Zack Ohren (Suffocation, Immolation) to begin tracking a sophomore album for Prosthetic Records.
The follow-up to last year’s “Slave To The Sword,” expected out this Fall, will feature new bassist Michael Cosio (ex-Abysmal Dawn) alongside the band’s existing core of Conan (vocals/guitars), Mario Moreno (drums), and David Rivera (guitars).
Moreno announced, “2014 was a great year for Exmortus and the campaign for ‘Slave to the Sword’ has been relentless since its release. This year has been a little quiet for us but with good reason. We’re excited to announce that we’ll be entering the studio at the end of this month to once again record with the mighty Zack Ohren. Zack did a phenomenal job on ‘Slave to the Sword’ and we’re ready to record some more bone-crushing, face-melting shred for you all!”

Metalsucks is presenting the "A Decade of Guilt" North American tour featuring Arsis, Allegaeon, and Exmortus. James Malone from Arsis comments:
"10 years ago I was a full time college student that was given an opportunity. The musical project that I had been working on 'for fun' on breaks from school was asked to record a full length album for a small independent record label.
"I had no idea at the time what the response would be to the album, or if there would be any response at all. Almost as soon as the album was released, much to my surprise, we were getting attention from around the world and my life was forever changed.
"That album was called A Celebration of Guilt and myself and everyone in Arsis, would like to celebrate it's 10 year anniversary by playing the album...in it's entirety...on tour. Many of songs have not been played live in years, if ever. Here's to a decade of guilt and METAL!!!" More...

On March 16th, 2012, Motorbreath Entertainment intended to create one of the best lineups featuring bands from the “New Wave of Thrash Metal.” Exmortus, Bonded By Blood, Havok, Speedwolf and Witchaven were on the bill to play Betsy’s Bar at Austin’s annual South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival. Oregon’s Spellcaster offered a style more in line with the New Wave of Classic Metal scene that has, in a sense, run parallel with the new thrash movement.
Besides Corrosion of Conformity who came to town with their crossover thrash, “Animosity” lineup, thrash metal is an endangered species in Austin during this time of the year. When I saw Motorbreath had organized a lineup of such great, young thrash bands, I had to help with promotion. Unfortunately, a number of mishaps led to Betsy’s Bar canceling the show. However, thanks to Alex Campos of local metal marauders, Beyond The Blood, the show went on! More...
