Edguy Working On "Superheroes" EP
German traditional metallers Edguy are working all guns blazing on their forthcoming EP "Superheroes" which is scheduled for September. Producing is Sascha Paeth (Kamelot, Aina, Rhapsody) at the Gates Studio in Wolfsburg. Apart from the mid-tempo title track none of the featured songs will be found on the forthcoming album.
About the material singer Tobias Sammet says: "Working with Sascha is incredibly refreshing. The new shit kicks ass, sounds cheeky at times but always fresh. An up-to-date production, still pompous and big... On the EP there will be five songs, one is going to be an overlong up-tempo epic track, for which we are maybe going to invite some of my Avantasia buddies to share some vocals with me. This would suit this song so damn well, so it’s a must. That being said: We won’t need to hype it as an all-star super project, there have been much too many already anyway. And I think the stuff is strong enough to speak for itself."
Edguy will embark on an US tour with Hammerfall in the summer. Tour dates can be found here.

Edguy Frontman Checks In With Tour & EP Update
Edguy frontman Tobias Sammet has checked in following their appearance at the Atarfe-Vega-Rock Festival in Granada, Spain:
Hi,
Just a short message: we've just come back from our trip to Granada, Spain to play the Atarfe-Vega-Rock festival. It was a lot of fun, although it's been pretty cold in the venue. That was not what we expected from Spain but however, you people who were there were really great. Some technical problems on stage and we couldn't bring the whole show, but what the fuck - we gave our best and you gave your best, that's what counts. We all had a great evening!
After the show we had a kind of pre-birthday party for Eggi, together with the Primal Fear guys. Great guys, great fun. We will not mention any details, I am not gonna reveal that Jens woke up in his bath tub full of water and that I had to be carried out of the venue by two of our crew guys later that night. Well, you see: we had fun!!! Felix had a food war with himeself which is not very funny. There's a lot of people who starve while two Kiwis accidently slipped out of Felix' hand and exploded on the wall. To his excuse we should mention that he wouldn't have managed to throw them to Namibia anyway. So I want to stress we can't speak about waste of food in this case.
Meanwhile, we are working full-steam on our new EP that is estimated to be released in September. A full length album is to follow early next year. I liked the concept of delivering a big value-for-money thing as the official single last time just like the "King Of Fools" EP. We got very good response to that and we are so creative at the moment that there will be a lot of material as it seems. We'll see, can't tell too much at this point. But we are working on that one. Anyway, the material sounds good, sound like Edguy, very fresh, very cheeky and of course epic at times. You'll hear it later. Have a great week and happy birthday Eggi.
Candlemass Confirmed For Wacken Open Air

The complete list of bands currently scheduled to appear at the festival is as follows: More...
COB, Hammerfall To Headline Bloodstock 2005 Fests
BLOODSTOCK 2005 will comprise 2 separate festivals. The brand new outdoor show BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR ( B-O-A ) will take place on June 24th-25th 2005 at Catton Hall, in the Midlands, with the annual BLOODSTOCK05 – UK Metalfest taking place indoors at the Assembly Rooms in Derby on 2nd-3rd September 2005.
With the indoor festival now having reached capacity within the current location, the next logical step was to find an additional location, and the decision to go outdoors was an easy choice to make as the UK does not have an outdoor Euro-style Metal festival along the lines of Wacken, Bang Your Head and Summer Breeze (DE), Gods of Metal (ITA), Sweden Rock (SWE), Graspop (B), Dynamo (N) and so many more. The current choice of venue, Catton Hall, offers a fantastic location within a rural setting, centrally located within the UK for all areas to reach easily, and yes, camping will be provided. Our initial capacity is for up to 8,000 with further growth at the site to accommodate 20,000 within a few more years. More...
