Edguy frontman Tobias Sammet has posted the following tour update at the band's official website:
"Hello from a hotel room in Madrid. Everything is going great so far, almost every show had been sold out or was at least close. Yesterday in Italy there was a weird thing going on. Around midnight, I guess it wasn't even ten in the morning, Italian police officers disturbed our beauty sleep on the tour bus asking for money. Weird, I thought the days of corruption in the civilized world were long gone. Half asleep I replied 'It's not Manni, it's Tobi!' Then one of the sheriffs asked me for drugs. I mean, even if I took drugs and had some, I wouldn't share them with a corrupted police officer, would you?! I was tempted to ask if he couldn't maybe specify what he was in need of exactly. But it seemed they weren't in a funny mood. I mean: we don't do drugs and I told him that all we had was some whiskey and beer. His answer was "Den I come widda dog!" Yes, each to his own, there's people who like to come with dogs. Anyway, the whole procedure took 45 minutes and they turned the bus upside down. We neither had a hostage by the name of Manni, nor did we have drugs. All we finally had was a bad mood and dog's hair everywhere and a terrible smell. Our lighting engineer said it was his first time having been woken up by a dog's asshole on his face. Weird shit happens!!! Anyway, the Italian fans have been worth it! Even a dog's ass on Holgi's face. It was a female dog anyway. This tour is great fun and it feels great to be out to see you guys! Take care, Tobi!"

INTO ETERNITY guitarist/vocalist Tim Roth has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"We made it home after a 40-hour trip from our last show in the USA. The HAMMERFALL/ EDGUY/ INTO ETERNITY tour was a success for us. I think we converted a few new fans onto our bans and that's really what touring is all about. It is important for us to try and grow our fan base. It was amazing to meet each and everyone of you on the road over this past year. We have made a lot of life long fans/friends I'm sure.
"Next up is our USA/Canada tour with STRATOVARIUS. I think this will be a cool package for all fans of heavy metal. There will be plenty of clean vocals, guitar solos and death metal to be heard on these shows. The whole band is excited to be a part of these events. See you all soon!!"

The date was August 16, 2005. I was at BBkings in New York City, New York to see one of my favorite bands, Into Eternity, open for a band I enjoyed listening to, Edguy. While waiting for the show to start, I headed back stage to interview Edguy, unfortunately they were not ready for me and I should come back at 7pm, when the show started. After seeing the first song from Into Eternity, Splintered Visions, I go back stage again to do my interview. I finish as they start their last song, Beginning of the End, which also happened to be one of my favorites. Though I only caught two songs in the end, it was amazing. Those two songs satisfied my appetite for seeing Into Eternity live, since I had seen them before and they will be around again shortly. More...

Edguy's upcoming EP "Superheroes," due on September 5, will feature a special guest appearance by former Helloween frontman Michael Kiske.
Edguy singer Tobias Sammet comments:
One of the tracks is a bombastic uptempo epic that's reminiscent of a mixture of heavy Queen, Richard Wagner and Avantasia. So it was a MUST to ask Michael Kiske to do some guest vocals. To me, music is about goose bumps, and I had a lot when listening to Michi! To make it fair, we have decided that the CD shall be out in stores for the price of a CD single only! So make sure you persuade your friends that they buy it and don't copy it, maybe quality and value for money could be a promising kind of 'copy-protection!
The "Superheroes" DVD — also due on September 5 — will contain the brand new video clip 'Superheroes', a couple of songs filmed live in Brazil, plenty of "behind-the-scenes" footage, a slide show, an extensive studio report with interviews and a chance to follow Edguy backstage. "Our fans will love the fun part of it and I'm sure to them it's a classic," states Sammet. "And I am sure Edguy haters will hate us even more and will think we are a bunch of wanna-be-funny-gay-idiots."
The DVD will have a running time of approximately 80 minutes and will be available for the price of a DVD-single as well.
Starting June 17th, fans are invited to post their questions until July 1st. The questions will be answered later by the band members themselves. You can post your questions in English or German. Please note that a free forum registration is required to create a topic, and make sure to read the Meet & Greet regulations before posting your question.
Fans posting questions will be entered in a raffle. The prizes aren't determined yet, so watch out for announcements while the meet & greet session!
Edguy has left this message on their official website:
Hey fellows, don’t forget about the EP and the DVD to come out on September 5th. They are called “Superheroes” and “Superheroes – The DVD”. The title track will be the same on both, but the rest of the material of the CD will NOT stand on the DVD and vice versa. They are two completely different releases, so NO RIP OFF ;)!!! On the CD you will have six first class songs, also exclusively featuring some of my Avantasia-friends on vocals as it seems. Stuff sounds great. The title track “Superheroes” is a groovy mid tempo song with a killer hookline in the chorus. Our producer Sascha Paeth added some new sound elements to that song. But hold your breath: I mean in a good way! Powerful and fresh and up to date if you can say that! I liked it, I am already 27 and still single, so this may help me to get married, or – worst case – just laid at least! Just kidding. ;) It’s a good song, one of the few that isn’t too heavy and adds some new flavour to our sound. Just like “Holy Water” two years ago. Then we got a song called “Judas At The Opera”, it’s a long epic song with choirs, orchestral elements, tempo changes from fast to slow and majestic anthemic melodies. I am really amazed of how diversified we sound in 2005. Later on we will let you know about how we record this time. You wouldn’t believe – many bands are proud about how many months they record, we can brag that we recorded the basics live - all at the same time! I know, you may think that’s usually the case. Well, in 1968 it was, now we got the age of auto tune, when every tone-deaf crow can become a teenage idol! And we do our shit live in the studio and just spice it up with third and forth guitar tracks, replace a few fuck-ups and add vocals and keyboards. It’s so groovy, sounds so “real” and powerful.
On the DVD there’s gonna be the video for “Superheroes”, this will be the most hilarious piece of a music film ever done since Twisted Sister’s old clips. You wouldn’t believe how much money we ‘waste’ on it, just to have so much fun. And if you think music and humor don’t go together, don’t even dare to watch it, haha!
“Superheroes – The DVD” is gonna be a special item. As it will be a kind of DVD-EP (more info below - in the News section), we talked our record label into releasing it at a very special nice price at first. So if the stores sell it for 20 Euros, give ‘em the finger (Although it would be worth it!) ;) Or just steal it. But don’t burn it please. I just had a car accident, need a new car maybe! ;) Anyway, the DVD will contain the clip in 5.1 sound, then a few tracks live in Brazil (12 cameras, 5.1 sound), an extensive studio report (we got camera people sneaking around in the studio all the time), interview stuff, a making-of-the-video-clip and a tour-documentary. Let’s see what else. And always keep in mind: Both, DVD and CD will be available at a very special price, if not – burn your record store (Just kidding! Don’t do, they’d call it incitement to vandalism!). But don’t let them cheat you!
German melodic metallers Edguy have posted the following message on their official web site:
There's not only a 5-track EP "Superheroes" going to come out this year! Edguy plan to release the first official DVD in September, too, featuring different material than what's going to be found on the EP. Besides the video clip of "Superheroes," the DVD will feature various live tracks in 5.1 sound filmed at their show in Sao Paulo during their world tour 2004 when the band flew their whole big stage over to Brazil.
Furthermore there will be a lot of never-before-seen 'behind-the-scenes' footage — they have a camera team filming their recording sessions of the forthcoming EP and album right now. This DVD - that will have plenty of other little features as well - is going to be called "Superheroes - the DVD" and should be out early September.
Commented the band:
You asked for it, so we do it! It will be some kind of a 'special item' for our fans and ourselves to 'soothe the wait' for the new album. We keep you updated on the plans. At this point our record label is considering to change the release date for EP and DVD to September 5th. No problem for us, we are working at full tilt anyway. And it's all feeling so great!

German traditional metallers Edguy are working all guns blazing on their forthcoming EP "Superheroes" which is scheduled for September. Producing is Sascha Paeth (Kamelot, Aina, Rhapsody) at the Gates Studio in Wolfsburg. Apart from the mid-tempo title track none of the featured songs will be found on the forthcoming album.
About the material singer Tobias Sammet says: "Working with Sascha is incredibly refreshing. The new shit kicks ass, sounds cheeky at times but always fresh. An up-to-date production, still pompous and big... On the EP there will be five songs, one is going to be an overlong up-tempo epic track, for which we are maybe going to invite some of my Avantasia buddies to share some vocals with me. This would suit this song so damn well, so it’s a must. That being said: We won’t need to hype it as an all-star super project, there have been much too many already anyway. And I think the stuff is strong enough to speak for itself."
Edguy will embark on an US tour with Hammerfall in the summer. Tour dates can be found here.

Edguy frontman Tobias Sammet has checked in following their appearance at the Atarfe-Vega-Rock Festival in Granada, Spain:
Just a short message: we've just come back from our trip to Granada, Spain to play the Atarfe-Vega-Rock festival. It was a lot of fun, although it's been pretty cold in the venue. That was not what we expected from Spain but however, you people who were there were really great. Some technical problems on stage and we couldn't bring the whole show, but what the fuck - we gave our best and you gave your best, that's what counts. We all had a great evening!
After the show we had a kind of pre-birthday party for Eggi, together with the Primal Fear guys. Great guys, great fun. We will not mention any details, I am not gonna reveal that Jens woke up in his bath tub full of water and that I had to be carried out of the venue by two of our crew guys later that night. Well, you see: we had fun!!! Felix had a food war with himeself which is not very funny. There's a lot of people who starve while two Kiwis accidently slipped out of Felix' hand and exploded on the wall. To his excuse we should mention that he wouldn't have managed to throw them to Namibia anyway. So I want to stress we can't speak about waste of food in this case.
Meanwhile, we are working full-steam on our new EP that is estimated to be released in September. A full length album is to follow early next year. I liked the concept of delivering a big value-for-money thing as the official single last time just like the "King Of Fools" EP. We got very good response to that and we are so creative at the moment that there will be a lot of material as it seems. We'll see, can't tell too much at this point. But we are working on that one. Anyway, the material sounds good, sound like Edguy, very fresh, very cheeky and of course epic at times. You'll hear it later. Have a great week and happy birthday Eggi.
