Former Nightwish vocalist Tarja Turunen and former Rage drummer Mike Terrana posted the clip "Witch-Hunt" from the upcoming live release "Beauty & The Beat." The release is a celebration of the successful tour over 2011 and 2013 and will be made available on 2CD/DVD/Blu-ray and digital download on May 30th via earMusic.
The full track list can be found just following the clip, which can be seen below:
In 2011, Former Nightwish vocalist Tarja Turunen teamed up with former Rage drummer Mike Terrana for the "Beauty & The Beat" live performance - which consisted of interpretations of classic music pieces ranging from Bach to Mozart to Rossini as well as rock classics from Queen, Led Zeppelin and Tarja. In spring of 2013, the team toured throughout the world, from Poland to Russia to Mexico.
As a celebration of the tour, the new live release "Tarja Turunen & Mike Terrana - Beauty & The Beat" will be made available on 2CD/DVD/Blu-ray and digital download. Pre-orders can be made for: 2CD, DVD and Blu-ray.
"Beauty & The Beat" is something very different than your ordinary rock show, let alone your ordinary classic concert. It's music played in an unorthodox manner, it's the performance of a wide range of classical pieces and rock songs together with an orchestra and choir. It strikes you with awe. The music ranges from immortal classic pieces by Bach, Strauss and Mozart to Rossini, but doesn't neglect pure rock music like songs from Led Zeppelin, Queen as well as Tarja's own pieces. All combined with orchestra and choir with more than 100 musicians on stage, an enormous sound, energetic drums and Tarja's angelic voice.
Tarja and Mike complement each other musically. Whereas Mike bangs his drums with rock attitude, Tarja shines with her crystal clear voice and incredible stage presence; all lulled with the warm, full sound of an orchestra.
Tarja Turunen explains: "The idea of having a symphonic orchestra, choir and Mr. Terrana on drums was originally mine. Mike has done a recording with drums over classical pieces that I think it is great. I immediately imagined it performed live on a stage with a real orchestra as a part of a bigger concept. I believe this kind of combination of instruments, particularly playing mainly classical music, is very unique. I have been making collaborations with orchestras before and I could foresee a great outcome. More...

Today Metal Injection unveils the latest video from Finnish songstress/former Nightwish soprano, Tarja.
Shot in Tigre near Buenos Aires, Argentina by Florian Kaltenbach, "500 Letters" can be viewed in the player below.
The tune comes by way of Tarja's latest full-length, "Colours In The Dark." Released earlier this year, the record charted in twelve countries with four top ten entries. For the first time in Tarja's history, the singer herself is the main character in the video's storyline, which is fitting as "500 Letters" is, in many ways, Tarja's most private song to date, offering great emotional insight into the artist herself. Tarja (formerly of Nightwish) has announced new album "Colours In The Dark" will be released in North America via Eagle Rock imprint Armoury Records on August 27th, 2013. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Despite her light and airy character, the music of Finnish songstress/former Nightwish soprano, Tarja has always been shrouded 'in black' – the color of heavy rock, mystery and elegance. With her latest studio recording, fans will find that same darkness highlighted by an array of new emotions, multihued landscapes and musical atmospheres.
"Tarja’s latest milestone emphasizes once again her impressive vocal range and continued artistic growth. Titled 'Colours In The Dark', the ten-track offering was mixed and mastered by Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, U2) in Austin, Texas and delivers over an hour of music which includes grandiose orchestra and choir arrangements.
"Colours In The Dark follows the charting successes of 2007’s My Winterstorm and 2010’s What Lies Beneath. Further info, including cover art and track listing, to be revealed in the coming weeks. In the meantime, keep up with Tarja’s personal blog entries and recording updates at this location."
After the success of “Act I," former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen has renewed her album deal with earMUSIC for a set of new releases spanning over the next few years. The first release will be the yet untitled follow up to the 2010 LP "What Lies Beneath," which is scheduled for release in August/September. The album was mixed by Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam/U2) and details about the first single, its music video and extensive worldwide tour will be revealed soon.
Turunen commented on the new release: "It’s going to be a killer, killer…In few days I am going to record the final vocals for the last song on the album. It will be a hard ending for the vocal recordings, since the song has several choirs and even some sort of ethnic touch, so I will have to sweat. Anyway this album production has gone very smoothly forward since all the pieces are together and the team that has been working with me before is still the same. It’s only getting better!"
Although rock will remain Tarja‘s main musical field, she also plans to release productions in a diverse array of musical genres. The upcoming "Beauty and The Beat" tour (side project of Tarja and former Rage drummer Mike Terrana) will be filmed this year, and the success of the album "Harus" will be followed up by the first-ever classical studio album by the Finnish vocalist.
