Pagan's Mind Releasing DVD/2CD Set

A highlight in the Pagan's Mind career was playing the ProgPower USA festival in 2003. Hard on the heels of the sophomore release "Celestial Entrance," the praise received in Atlanta was unlike anything the band had ever experienced before.

Pagan's Mind played the festival again in 2007 (also appearing as the house band for the "All Star Jam"), and in 2009 returned for the festival's 10 Year Anniversary under the moniker "Returning Heroes."

On September 11th, 2014, another historical performance took place at Center Stage, featuring "Celestial Entrance" in its entirety plus an additional set including the instrumental piece "Full Circle." It is this piece which comprises the theme of the show you are about to witness.

Now the band will release this concert entitled "Full Circle" on October 16, 2015 as a 2CD/DVD digipak version, Blu-ray/2CD version, 2LP Gatefold version and download through SPV/Steamhammer. The track listing is: More...

ProgPower USA XV: Kick-Off Day With Pagan's Mind

Just one year to the day after the expeditionary US satellite Voyager I left our solar system, pushing mankind’s exploration of space to interstellar regions, Pagan’s Mind, DGM, and Draekon were to push the limits of bombastic progressive and power metal in a live setting and leave the crowd -- and this writer -- with nothing but hyperbole to explain the feat.

After Wednesday’s Midweek Mayhem show, the bar was set high at ProgPower USA XV in Atlanta for Thursday September 11th’s Kick-Off Show festivities. Nevertheless, in ProgPower tradition, Thursday’s show by Swordlord Productions built upon Wednesday’s energy and elevated it beyond the stratosphere. On this night, I and the crowd were to be treated to the talents of the sci-fi prog thrill-seekers of Norway’s Pagan’s Mind, a show that was also to be recorded for a crowd-funded live DVD entitled “Full Circle.”

As if that weren’t enough, Italy’s long-running kings of speed -- DGM -- were to put in a set of their own, with the USA’s own Draekon opening things right. Moreover, Evergrey had just hosted an exclusive listening party for their upcoming album, “Hymns For The Broken,” in the main venue an hour before the doors opened. What a day it was to be! More...

Thought Chamber Pulls Out Of ProgPower USA

Glenn Harveston, promoter for ProgPower USA, has announced that San Francisco's Thought Chamber has been forced to pull out of this year's festival to be held from September 10-13th, 2014 in Atlanta Georgia.

The following announcement was made by vocalist Ted Leonard: "Ted Leonard here….We regret to announce that, due to my scheduling conflicts, Thought Chamber will not be able to participate in ProgPower USA 2014. I feel terrible about this, but have had unforeseen commitments arise that unfortunately cannot be changed. We are truly honored to have been invited to perform at ProgPower USA. Glenn Harveston has built one of the best progressive metal festivals in the world, and we hope that Glenn will forgive our unforeseen cancellation and allow us to return in the future. This was totally unexpected, and evidence that I've completely overloaded my plate. I would like to personally and publicly apologize to Glenn Harveston, my band mates, and to any ProgPower USA fans that may have purchased tickets solely to see Thought Chamber."

Harveston has named the replacement act as Greek progressive metal band Need. The band released the latest album "Orvam - A Song for Home" in January. As a preview, check out the track "Mother Madness" from the album here: More...

Pagan's Mind Vocalist To Miss Tour Dates

Pagan's Mind vocalist Nils K. Rue has checked in with the following announcement about missing three upcoming shows:

"Dear friends, as you might know, we are off to do the 'Revelation to 2012' European tour together with Symphony X on Wednesday 28th of September, and travel for over three weeks covering most of Western Europe. We can´t wait to see you all again, it will be a blast!

"Due to unforeseen circumstances that popped up just a few weeks ago and can not be solved in a different way, I won´t be able to do three of the shows. I will do the shows in Hamburg and Bochum (the first two dates of the tour), but the next three German gigs (C-Club in Berlin, Colos-Saal in Aschaffenburg and Backstage Halle in Munich) will be with someone else behind the microphone. This is the first time ever I have had to ask for help, but this is the only solution right now as I don't want the band to cancel these important shows. And hopefully - though I know we have found the right solution - it will be the last time I need assistance. More...

Pit Stories: Fear The Witch

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories from metal shows. This week Nils K. Rue of Pagan's Mind shares a story involving his psychic friend and a witch. Read on to see what that's all about:

A friend of mine is a psychic person, and sees both future, past and what's going on presently. He is deadly accurate in a lot of his visions, and I have proof for that. He also finds lost keys, missing persons etc. It may sound like bullshit to some, but there is evidence you just can't refuse to look past. He has helped me in a lot of matters, but since “the images” he gets in his head also is mixed sometimes into his very vivid and dramatic fantasy (and sense of humor), I have learnt over the years to filter out what he probably read in dungeons and dragons book or saw in a horror movie and what is a fact.

The first year I knew him, I didn't realize that some of his sayings were part of his fantasy, so he scared the hell out of me regularly – until I learned how to understand him and interpret “his language.” It could be like “there's an old man standing behind you right now, he is your grandfather (and he described him perfectly)” stuff, to “you will break big next year with a song that goes with these chords: E, F, G, C etc. Well, that didn’t happen…
