The 2nd place runner-up Faction package went to the version of Vessel (Losing Control Remix) by Pushing Reality.

NIN Album To Be Made Into TV Series?
The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) reports: The latest NINE INCH NAILS album, "Year Zero", might be turned into a television series. Frontman and creative mastermind Trent Reznor told a U.K. newspaper that plans are underway to bring the concept disc to the airwaves, saying, "We've got a producer on board and have met with writers. We're about to pitch it to the network, so we're a couple of weeks away from meeting all of the main people, and we'll see what happens."
"Year Zero" is set in a totalitarian future America ruled by a right-wing religious dictatorship. The populace is plagued by mysterious visions, the country's drinking water might be drugged and global catastrophe is near.
Reznor said earlier in the year that he was interested in bringing the story to the screen, possibly as a movie.
The album was released this past spring after an innovative viral marketing campaign that left clues for fans online and in venues where the band had played.
NINE INCH NAILS has yet to mount a full North American tour in support of "Year Zero", although the group's web site recently added a September 18 show in Honolulu, Hawaii to its summer itinerary, which is filled through August and the first half of September with shows in Europe, the U.K., China, Israel and Southeast Asia. NIN plays on Wednesday (August 15) in Switzerland.
Daath Plan Remix of "Dead On The Dance Floor"
DAATH has concocted a cocktail of metal’s most eclectic elements. The band will be releasing an exclusive remix of “Dead on the Dance Floor,” a track from their debut Roadrunner release, The Hinderers, via digital EP this summer. The track was remixed by Danny Lohner, ex-NIN and A Perfect Circle, and is due out in July. Daath guitarist and co-founder Eyal Levi states: “At some point in our lives each member of Daath has done their time with Nine Inch Nail’s music. They are a huge part of our musical upbringing and collaborating with one of their main minds is an honor that we are very excited about.” Describing their sound as “versatile,” Daath stray away from a traditional approach to death metal – weaving deep pockets of groove with electronic nuances, making a remix by Danny Lohner a natural progression for the band.
Having just completed a sold-out UK tour alongside metal juggernauts Unearth, Job For a Cowboy, and Despised Icon, Daath has returned to conquer North America.
Daath will hit the road on June 2nd and will tour through August 30th, showcasing their bombastic live show throughout North America. Their touring journey will begin as part of The Summer Slaughter Tour, featuring a bounty of respected extreme metal acts such as Necrophagist, Decapitated, Cephalic Carnage and Cattle Decapitation. Following Summer Slaughter they will play a string of select dates with Dying Fetus, Psyopus, and Covenance, until launching into this year’s Ozzfest. Daath will dominate the second stage with fellow underground acts such as Nile, 3 Inches of Blood and Chthonic and will be playing select Off-Fest dates with Nile. “This is a breakthrough time for extreme music,” Levi says, “Ozzfest has begun to pick up on the value of underground, truly extreme music. For us it’s not only a great honor, but also a huge opportunity to see how much we can help push the genre.”

Trent Reznor Slams His Australian Label
NINE INCH NAILS mastermind Trent Reznor has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"As the climate grows more and more desperate for record labels, their answer to their mostly self-inflicted wounds seems to be to screw the consumer over even more. A couple of examples that quickly come to mind:
- The ABSURD retail pricing of 'Year Zero' in Australia. Shame on you, UMG. 'Year Zero' is selling for $34.99 Australian dollars ($29.10 US). No wonder people steal music. AVRIL LAVIGNE's record in the same store was $21.99 ($18.21 US).
"By the way, when I asked a label rep about this his response was: 'It's because we know you have a real core audience that will pay whatever it costs when you put something out — you know, true fans. It's the pop stuff we have to discount to get people to buy.' So... I guess as a reward for being a 'true fan' you get ripped off.
- The dreaded EURO maxi-single. Nothing but a consumer rip-off that I've been talked into my whole career. No more.
"The point is, I am trying my best to make sure the music and items NIN puts in the marketplace have value, substance and are worth you considering purchasing. I am not allowing Capital G to be repackaged into several configurations that result in you getting ripped off.
"We are planning a full-length remix collection of substance that will be announced soon."
NINE INCH NAILS' new album, "Year Zero", debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart, selling 187,000 copies in its first week of release. The group's previous effort, 2005's "With Teeth", moved 272,000 copies.
NINE INCH NAILS will visit Japan later this month. North American tour plans are still to be announced.
Remix NIN's Entire "Year Zero" Album
Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS has posted three songs from the band's new "Year Zero" album onto a file-sharing network based on the popular BitTorrent software, which has quickly become the most frequently used method of illegally sharing and downloading large files, especially music and movies. The tracks appeared on a Swedish torrent site called Pirate Bay, which bills itself as the world's largest BitTorrent tracker. The songs are available for fans to either listen to or remix. NINE INCH NAILS has also hinted that the entire "Year Zero" album will soon be available on torrent networks.
Since leaking songs has been part of the marketing campaign for "Year Zero", it seems likely that NINE INCH NAILS put the three tracks on Pirate Bay with the cooperation of the group's record label.
"Year Zero" debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart last week, selling 187,000 copies in its first week of release. The group's previous effort, 2005's "With Teeth", moved 272,000 copies.
The new CD's much-talked-about marketing campaign has involved cryptic voicemails and a maze of eerie web sites in addition to leaked music.
NINE INCH NAILS will visit Australia and Japan next month. North American tour plans are still to be announced.
NIN Set To Debut At #2 On Billboard Charts
Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS could sell more than 200,000 copies of its new album, "Year Zero", in its first week of release, according to sales tracking by Hits Daily Double. The disc, which was released on Tuesday (April 17), could enter the Billboard album chart at No. 2 next week, with AVRIL LAVIGNE's new offering expected to debut in the top spot. The last NINE INCH NAILS effort, 2005's "With Teeth", did debut at No. 1 on the chart with first-week sales of 272,000 copies.
"Year Zero" is a concept album that takes place in the year 2022, with the U.S. taken over by a religious dictatorship as the world nears environmental and social collapse.
The CD has been the subject of one of the year's most talked-about marketing campaigns, involving intentionally leaked songs, cryptic voicemails and a maze of eerie web sites.
Meanwhile, a "secret meeting" of NINE INCH NAILS fans as part of the "Art Is Resistance" movement was directed by cellphone calls to an abandoned Los Angeles warehouse on Wednesday night (April 18), where they were treated to a surprise NINE INCH NAILS performance. The set, however, was stopped after six songs by heavily armed "SWAT-like" troops who raided the location in a "Year Zero"-inspired scenario, according to CrowdCtrl.com. Video of the event is available at OpenSourceResistance.net.
Goon Moon Ready Album For May Release
While today is the release date of Nine Inch Nails' "Year Zero," the band's current guitar player, Jeordie White (formerly known as Twiggy Ramirez from Marilyn Manson), is also a part of Goon Moon who have a May 8 release of "Licker's Last Leg" on Ipecac Records. Goon Moon is Jeordie and Chris Goss (Queens of the Stone Age, Masters of Reality) with guest players including Zach Hill (Hella), Josh Homme (QOTSA), Josh Freese amongst others. Chris also has a busy summer with Queens of the Stone Age's album coming this June.

RIAA Goes After NIN Fans Over Leak Campaign
Launch Radio Networks reports: The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which has become notorious for suing anyone from high school students to retirees for downloading music from the web, has gone after web sites such as Idolator that have posted leaked songs from the upcoming NINE INCH NAILS album, "Year Zero". The problem, however, is that the tracks were leaked intentionally. Several songs from the album were left on computer hard drives at venues on the band's current European tour, with fans finding and posting them on the web for others to download and swap. According to Billboard.com, the RIAA sent cease-and-desist emails to web sites that posted the tracks, leading one industry source to say, "These f***ing idiots are going after a campaign that the label signed off on."
While a number of songs have been intentionally released, the entire NINE INCH NAILS album has not leaked online yet. The CD arrives on April 17.
In addition to the leaked tracks, the marketing campaign for "Year Zero" has featured cryptic messages on T-shirts and a maze of linked web sites that expand upon the album's storyline of a future U.S. on the brink of apocalypse.
The same source told Billboard that NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor views the campaign as a "new entertainment form." The source added that the campaign will continue for the next 18 months.
"Year Zero" is reportedly the first of two concept albums, the second of which Reznor hopes to finish next year.
NINE INCH NAILS finishes its European tour on April 10 in Finland and has just announced another round of shows on that continent beginning in August. A trip to Australia and Japan is planned for May. North American dates have not been announced yet.
NIN Frontman Talks Anti-Bush On New Album
Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor told Gigwise.com that the concept behind his upcoming "Year Zero" album was partially inspired by his feelings toward the Bush administration. Reznor explained, "I really wanted to focus on something that was at the forefront of my consciousness which is, as an American, I'm appalled by the behavior of our government, the direction that it has taken and the direction that it's taken everyone else in the world and its arrogance. I decided to write an essay about where the world might be if we continue down the path that we're on with a neo-con-esque government doing whatever it pleases."
"Year Zero" is set 15 years in the future, when a totalitarian right-wing government has taken over the U.S. and is possibly putting drugs in the water supply to sedate the populace while it wages religious war. Reznor added, "There are no concepts in the story that aren't rooted in things that already are happening."
Reznor previously expressed his unhappiness with the current government in "The Hand That Feeds" from 2005's "With Teeth".
"Year Zero" is due out on April 17.
Trent Reznor Finds Creativity In Sobriety
After struggling for years with addiction, Trent Reznor got clean and sober a few years back and released 2005's 'With Teeth'. While Nine Inch Nails fans are used to waiting almost five years between full albums from the band, here comes 'Year Zero' just about two years later. Reznor recently spoke to Gigwise about his current state of mind:
"I can see now with pretty much crystal clear clarity that that aspect had governed my life. I had made writing out to be a terrifying prospect filled with pain and failure and some things that I dreaded doing because I’ve always lacked self-confidence and every other thing," he said, while on tour in Europe. "By the end of my run with drugs I’d also realized that my brain wasn’t functioning right and I’d lost the power to really concentrate – it really made my art suffer, which made me feel worse, which made me want to get high and you know, that cycle starts up."
"Year Zero" Not NIN's 1st Attempt At Concept Album
Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS' upcoming album, "Year Zero", is reportedly the first of two concept records about a future religious dictatorship taking over the U.S. amid signs that the apocalypse is near. But this isn't bandleader Trent Reznor's first attempt at telling a story through music. Reznor told Launch that he originally intended the group's 2005 release, "With Teeth", to be a conceptual piece as well. "I'd come up with this kind of elaborate storyline, and the record was gonna be a concept record that had a number of pretentious elements to it," he said. "I was gonna talk about multi-layered reality and waking up in a dream you can't wake up out of, and eventually finding acceptance after you go through this period of trying to fight it. It was all kind of a big analogy for me getting sober."
"Year Zero" is scheduled for release on April 17.
NINE INCH NAILS has posted the video for "Survivalism", the first single from "Year Zero", on YouTube. The clip was first revealed on computer USB drives left behind after the band's recent show in London. Fans also spotted letters in the video that, when spelled out, led to yet another in the series of web sites connected to the album's concept, thewaterturnedtoblood.net.
According to The NIN Hotline, a complete list of the web sites relating to the album can be found at ninwiki.com.
Reznor recently told England's Kerrang! Radio that he's already in talks about a film version of "Year Zero".
New Nine Inch Nails Album To Become A Movie?
Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor told England's Kerrang! Radio that the band's upcoming concept album, "Year Zero", could be on its way to the big screen. Reznor said he's already in talks about a film version of the disc, adding, "I'm excited by the prospect of what this has brought to me. We're really looking into things it could be." If a movie version of "Year Zero" is a hit, Reznor would be ready to go with a sequel: a second NINE INCH NAILS album based on the same storyline is reportedly going to be released next year.
"Year Zero" is scheduled for release on April 17.
The album takes place in the year 2022, when the U.S. has been taken over by a fanatical religious government that may be putting drugs in the nation's water supply while citizens are seeing visions of an entity called "the Presence."
A number of hidden web sites have been set up that relate to the concept behind "Year Zero". Clues to the location of the sites have been found on the main NIN site, T-shirts on the band's current European tour, and inside hard drives left behind at stops on the trek.
NINE INCH NAILS is sponsoring a series of listening parties around the country for the album, beginning on March 11 in Salt Lake City, Utah and ending on March 27 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Nine Inch Nails Post "In This Twilight" Online
Nine Inch Nails have added the track "In This Twilight", which will be included on their new album 'Year Zero', to their MySpace page.
The track was found late last month on a USB thumb drive after one of the bands European concerts. The marketing concept for the album continues to grow as another 'Year Zero' clue was found on the Blue Ray version of their new DVD 'Beside You in Time'. According to Rolling Stone, the words "Secure", "Broadcast" and "Informatics" appear on the packaging, add a .com and you get securebroadcastinformatics.com. You can read more about the whole viral marketing scheme in the Rolling Stone article here.
AOL Streams Live NIN, Saosin and Pagoda
AOL Music has concert highlights from Nine Inch Nails' 2006 'With Teeth Tour' that you can watch online.
On the not really-metal-but-has-a-heavy-vibe front, they also have a full stream of grunge-influenced Pagoda's new self-titled album as well as a "Sessions Under Cover with Saosin" feature. Ok, although Saosin have heavier roots, this feature might not be heavy at all given that it includes a cover of Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' and some acoustic tracks.
Nine Inch Nails Reveal Cover Art
The cover artwork for the upcoming NINE INCH NAILS album, "Year Zero", has been posted online at this location.
"Year Zero" comes out on April 17. The first official single, "Survivalism", will arrive at radio later this month. Two songs from "Year Zero" — "Survivalism" and "My Violent Heart" — have been posted online on the band's MySpace page. A rather short and unrevealing trailer for "Year Zero" can be viewed online (30 MB, Quicktime).
RollingStone.com has posted a lengthy article about the innovative promotion scheme for "Year Zero", which "includes tour merchandising, a dizzying network of websites and, umm, bathrooms in European concert halls." You can read the story at this location.
NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor said in a statement that the idea for "Year Zero" came into him in a daydream about the end of the world. He explained, "It takes place about 15 years in the future. Things are not good. If you imagine a world where greed and power continue to run their likely course, you'll have an idea of the backdrop. The world has reached the breaking point — politically, spiritually and ecologically."
Reznor also hinted that "Year Zero" would be the first of two concept albums.
Another NIN MP3, "Me, I'm Not," Leaked Online
In what seems more like a viral marketing ploy, a third MP3 from Nine Inch Nails' upcoming "Year Zero" CD has been "leaked" onto the internet. You can download MP3s of "Survivalism," "Me, I'm Not" and "My Violent Heart" from this site.
The new nine inch nails single 'Survivalism' is now playing on radio stations nationwide and you can listen to it on the NIN MySpace page, along with another track from year zero: 'My Violent Heart.'
'Year Zero' will be out on April 17th 2007. Here is the complete track listing:

Tool and NIN Project Tops Lost Collabs List
Launch Radio Networks reports: A collaboration between members of TOOL and NINE INCH NAILS, plus recordings by GREEN DAY, WEEZER, BECK and RADIOHEAD, lead a list of "lost" albums and songs published by RollingStone.com on Friday (February 9). Topping the list is TAPEWORM, a project started by TOOL singer Maynard James Keenan and NINE INCH NAILS main man Trent Reznor that was in the works for six years but ultimately laid to rest in 2004. Demos of the songs exist, and different versions of some of them showed up on the soundtrack of the movie "Underworld" under the name PUSCIFIER.
NIN Album Details, Single Revealed
Nine Inch Nails' new album, Year Zero, is set for release on April 17, and will be the first of two concept albums, the later to be released in 2008. The first single from Year Zero, the track "Survivalism", will hit the radiowaves on the 27th of Feb, with an add date of March 6. The video for Survivalism was filmed last week in Los Angeles, and Trent Reznor has described Year Zero in an interview with Kerrang! Magazine as "a collage of sound type of thing, not heavy in a metal guitar kind of way.", adding "With this record I feel a lot less concerned about what people think about it — especially the dying record industry. I couldn't care less about that right now." On Year Zero being a concept album, he said that the record is "part of a bigger picture of a number of things I'm working on. Essentially I wrote the soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist."
The tracklisting for Year Zero is:
01. Hyperpower!
02. The Beginning of the End
03. Survivalism
04. The Good Soldier
05. Vessel
06. Me, I'm Not
