Swiss folk metallers, ELUVEITIE, have issued the following update:
"We welcome two new combatants to the Eluveitie host!"
"During the last couple of weeks we received many applications for the two vacant positions in our band. We'd like to use this opportunity to thank all musicians who contacted us for their messages, efforts and interest in our band. We read all applications assiduously and thought a lot about the whole thing." More...
Quebec’s KATAKLYSM has been creating quite a stir at this year’s Summer Slaughter tour with their show stealing performances all over the North America. Now after years of hard work and other successful tours, which most recently included runs with bands like DIMMU BORGIR and CHIMAIRA, they will finally play a headlining tour of North America this fall.
The trek will last from September 28th until October 28th and will cover much of the US and Canada. Joining KATAKLYSM on the tour will be Dying Fetus (Relapse Records), ELUVEITIE (Nuclear Blast Records), and KEEP OF KALESSIN (Nuclear Blast Records).
Vocalist Maurizio Iacono could barely contain his excitement when asked about what is sure to be one of the biggest metal tours of the year:
"We’ve waited a long time for this! No more 30 minute sets and pissing our fans off every time we play with people saying ‘why didn't you play this or that.’ We’re fucking stoked to have been given this opportunity to really give our fans the show they deserve.
"We’ve also brought an elite line up of bands and friends to join us out on the road. Our great friends and brutal death metal legends DYING FETUS. From Europe, we’re bringing PaganFest stand out band ELUVEITIE with their pagan folk metal that will turn many heads. Last but not least, Norway's new kings of progressive Black Metal KEEP OF KALESSIN! A full on metal package like that hasn’t been seen in a long fucking time!
"In addition there will be a special guest in regional markets that will be revealed soon…so expect a big show with full fledged KATAKLYSM devastation. The time has finally come!"

Swiss folk metal band, Eluveitie, has parted ways with two of their members and have issued the following parting message:
"After a long time playing together with us, Sevan (flute, whistles, bagpipes) and Rafi (bass) decided to leave Eluveitie. Both of them came to this decision due to personal reasons."
"Both, Sevan and Rafi, were longtime members. Sevan was with Eluveitie from the very beginning on. So their step was kind of a shock for us. Yet we also understand and accept their decision. We won't forget the years we spent together and we wish Sevan and Rafi all the very best on their future musical as well as personal ways! 'Thank you both for your dedication and for the time we spent together the last four years! Take care & horns raised!!!'" More...

To begin with, Korpiklaani was not present for this leg of the Paganfest tour, and it’s nothing short of a tragedy that North Americans had to miss out on the Forest Clan for this event.
Eluveitie was also not in attendance, supposedly because they didn’t file the proper paperwork with the Canadian customs in a timely fashion, so Gwynbleidd was on hand to fill in as an opener at the Medley in Montreal, Quebec. These New Yorkers weren’t quite as folksy as their Scandinavian counterparts, yet they offered a melancholic, progressive metal – slow, dark material, somewhat similar to High On Fire, and they set the stage quite nicely for Tyr.
Tyr looked the same as ever, long-haired and bare-chested, and they treated the crowd to a song from their newest album, “Land”. Fans were pleased to see “Hail to the Hammer” and the Faroese “Ramund Hin Unge” get some play, as well as “Wings of Time”. Unfortunately, their set was cut mercilessly short after a few songs, and they were replaced by Turisas. It is safe to say, even among the crazy Ensiferum fans, that Turisas stole the show that night. They swept up the crowd into the palm of their head and collectively placed it in their pocket. More...
Endstille (D) will be headlining the Fear Dark Festival 2008 on June 1 in Stuttgart, Germany with Eluveitie (CH) as a co-headliner. Other bands that are playing include Thy Majestie (ITA), Slechtvalk (NL) and Finsterforst (D). More information can be found on www.lka-longhorn.de.
The May 11 Paganfest stop, featuring Ensiferum, Turisas, Tyr and Eluveitie, has been moved to a new venue. The show will now take place at Chasers Bar and Nightclub in Scottsdale, AZ.
The May 12 show in El Paso was also recently moved to a new venue. The show will now take place at Club 101 in El Paso, TX.

Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM have been confirmed for this year's Bloodstock Open Air festival, set to take place August 15-17, 2008 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, England. The festival billing is now shaping up as follows:
AT THE GATES
SWALLOW THE SUN
KATAKLYSM will perform at the Rebel Radio "Birthday Bash" alongside TROUBLE on January 27 at The House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois. More bands will be announced soon.
KATAKLYSM has recruited producer Jason Suecof (CHIMAIRA, TRIVIUM, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) to mix the band's new album beginning in early February. "Prevail" will feature several guest appearances to be announced at a later date. The album is scheduled for a late spring/early summer release via Nuclear Blast Records.
KATAKLYSM recently decided to "immortalize" the character that was featured on the cover of their most recent album, "In the Arms of Devastation", and have him re-appear as the main character — dubbed "The Heartbeast" — on their next offering, "Prevail".
Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: "We had so [much] killer feedback on the artwork but especially on the character that we decided to keep him as the band's fifth band member... kinda like IRON MAIDEN did with 'Eddie.' We have the perfect concept for the next album art... it will be bad-ass!"
As previously reported, ENSIFERUM, TURISAS, TYR and ELUVEITIE will join forces for the Pagan Fest North American tour, running through April and May. Dates have now been announced for El Paso, TX and Hollywood and Long Beach, CA.
