FINNTROLL has revealed that their new album, "Nifelvind," will be release in February 2010. Previously rumored to be named "Mot Skuggornas Värld," "Nifelvind" was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and mastered by Mika Jussila (add any big Finnish Metal band for namedropping) at Finnvox Studios. The album cover artwork was done again by the band's own guitarist Skrymer.
FINNTROLL comments on the album as follows:
“After tough and hectic weeks in the studio, due to lack of time and summer festivals, we are now really, really pleased with the results. 'Nifelvind' is the most advanced and mature FINNTROLL-album to date, with musical themes ranging from powerful death metal riffs to dark soundtracks, from pounding black metal to groovy 80's pop-music. All this is accompanied by our trademark sound, lots of never-before-heard instruments in the metal-scene, folklore and legends that make it overall the most versatile album we have created so far.”
The tracklisting for "Nifelvind" is as follows:
1. Blodmarsch (intro)
3. Den Frusna Munnen
4. Ett Norrskensdåd
5. I Trädens Sång
6. Tiden Utan Tid
8. Mot Skuggornas Värld
9. Under Bergets Rot
The exact release dates are as follows:
FINLAND: Wednesday, February 17, 2010
GERMANY / AUSTRIA / SWITZERLAND / BENELUX / ITALY: Friday, February 19, 2010
UK / FRANCE / GREECE / DENMARK / NORWAY / REST OF EUROPE: Monday, February 22, 2010
SPAIN / PORTUGAL: Tuesday, February 23, 2010
SWEDEN / HUNGARY: Wednesday, February 24, 2010
North America: Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
To properly celebrate the release of the new album, FINNTROLL will be headlining the 2010 edition of the Paganfest tour.

Swiss pagan metallers Eluveitie just revealed the tracklist of their upcoming album "Everything Remains," which is scheduled for an early 2010 release.

"Everything Remains," the band's fourth full-length album is being mixed by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, Trivium and many more) and marks the follow up to 2009's acoustic / folk effort "Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion."
The band is currently on a headlining run through most parts of North America.
Swiss pagan metal band ELUVEITIE has finished the recording sessions for their new album and are currently mixing the new songs with Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD, KREATOR, BEHEMOTH, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE etc.) and Martyn “Ginge” Ford. The band has announced "Everything Remains As It Never Was" as the title to the groups fourth full length release, which is scheduled to be released in Spring 2010.
Vocalist/Mastermind Chrigel Glanzmann commented while taking a break from the mixing session taking place in Wales:
"Somehow it seems almost unreal to me: The recordings for our upcoming album are finished! Right now I’m in the Welsh Nott-In Pill studios with Colin Richardson and Martyn “Ginge” Ford working on the mix of the album. Believe me, the mix will be mind-blowing! What can I say? Colin is just a pure genius!" More...

Eluveitie has issued the following update about gaining an endorsement from Redpipes:
"Fortunately there are those days, where you come to realise, that there are still nice surprises in life! ;)
That’s what happened to me, after I firstly got in contact with the ‘redpipes’. Päde told me about them.
"Redpipes are ‘electronic bagpipes’, made in Germany. You must know, I usually hate electronic bagpipes, because they’re normally nothing but a bad joke. A fucking bad joke. So, when hearing about the ‘Redpipes’ my first first thought was: ‘What the hell? This definitely cannot be something useful!’ Normally bagpipes with an electronic tone generator really, really sound like crap (and they’re not even close to the sound of a real bagpipe. Not in light years!).
"But then Päde received one of those ineffable things at home and we tried it out. And hell, I was kinda blown away by this ridiculously looking, terribly red thing (I though it looked like a duck that grew up after a nuclear accident). I mean, come on, it souded fucking good! To be honest: After Päde plugged it to an amp, using some regular pre-amp (you know, with a little eq, compressor, ect.), I could barely tell the difference between the sound of this red ‘nuclear duck’ and a real scottish highland pipe! Astonishing! More...
Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie has posted all the songs from the upcoming acoustic album, entitled “Evocation I – the arcane dominion,” on the band's MySpace page.

Eluveitie has issued the following statement about dropping off the 2009 PaganFest tour:
"We are very sorry to announce that we will not be able to make it to this years edition of Paganfest USA after all.
"We would like to make clear that this was in no way the decision of the band and that we all were looking forward to do this tour a lot. Also we are working on a replacement tour within 2009 where we'll hopefully also be able to play a special showcase featuring songs off our upcoming acoustic release "Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion" (due April 11th). We will be back for sure 'cause you guys truly rock and we did not forget the warm welcome we've received on Paganfest I & Death By Decibels!"
The Rock The Nation promotion company has issued the following update about Eluveitie dropping off of the 2009 PagaFest tour:
"Hello to all Pagan folks out there!
"We’re almost here for the second edition of PaganFest America and are very excited for this years tour. With the anticipation continuing to mount, this will be THE tour to attend this year, we promise! On a related note, there have been some changes to the tour line up. Unfortunately, Swiss folk band ELUVEITIE will no longer be able to make it on this edition and we’ve decided that it would be wiser to wait for the band to return in the fall since they’ve already played during PaganFest America 2008’s touring cycle. On the bright side, ELUVEITIE will return on a new tour we are currently working on (yes…we’re working on something very cool for this Fall) where ELUVEITIE will play an acoustic and a full metal set and it will be worth the wait. Stay tuned for more info to come!
"With this being said, we have increased the playing times of all the bands on PaganFest America and whether you come for your favorite or for all of the bands, you will get the set time you and the bands deserve!
"On to another update: below are the final date additions to the tour. It is very difficult to get all these fine bands to commit at the right time frames to tour. This year we had to make it a short run because of the bands conflicting schedules. It wasn’t a preference of any kind, just logistics. We will try our best in the future to make this tour go everywhere!" More...

Pagan folk metal band Eluveitie has issued the following statement:
"Good news at the new years dawn! :)
As some of you might know, we’re in the studio right now, nailing our upcoming acoustic album 'Evocation I - the arcane dominion!' More news will follow during the next two weeks!
But before this year’s over, we’d like to come up with a couple of pretty nice news! First of all we’re happy and proud to announce our new webshop! From now on, we have our own little webshop, filled with our albums of course and as well our own exclusive merchandise! After a while diverse merch articles, snips and goodies will be added. Furthermore we’d like to announce our upcoming spring tours, of which you might have heard already. We’re looking forward and proud to raid Europe on an extended tour with the mighty thrash metal veterans Kreator - starting in late January 2009 already! Besides Mille Petrozzas “chaos horde”, also the German Caliban and Emergency Gate are joining in!
In spring we’ll be back to the USA again! Co-headlining the second edition of Paganfest USA tour - together with our friends form Korpiklaani, Primordial and Moonsorrow as well as two bands from “the new world”: Blackguard and Swashbuckle! The second Paganfest US tour will start on May 7th @ the Chicago Powerfest. So... there’s nothing else to say than: See you on the road again! And until then we wish all of you a happy and metallish new year!"

"The demand for the tour is growing and people are really excited. We chose to bring the best and some new blood as well for the next run. We hope (like this year) that all the pagan followers will come back in big numbers and raise their drinks in the air and celebrate a majestic evening not to be forgotten anytime soon!"

Kataklysm vocalist Maurizio Iacono recently issued the following update from the road while on the second annual "Death by Decibels" tour:
"Today is a day off in Hollywood, CA and we might go check out that cock rock cover band STEEL PANTHER tonight at the Key Club. Speaking of the Key Club, it was a great show yesterday! The crowd was on fire for all the bands and it was great to see all the fans chanting the lyrics to 'Prevail'. The album is obviously doing well and the tour has been doing great. Highlights so far have been Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, all the Texas dates, Los Angeles and the sold out show in San Diego at the Soma.
"We're having a blast with the Norwegians in KEEP OF KALESSIN, the Swiss folk fuckers in ELUVEITIE and our old friends in DYING FETUS. It's been a great ride so far and you if you haven't seen this package yet do yourself a favor and don't miss it! It's really a killer diverse metal package and a good time. Thanks again to all of you for the great support, we know these are hard times in the country and having so many people come out means a lot to us and all the bands. Cheers!"
"Prevail", the most recently acclaimed album by Canada's hyperblasters KATAKLYSM, has won for "Album Of The Year" in the "Metal/Hardcore" category at the Quebec Indie Music Awards (GAMIQ), an awards show that recognizes achievements by Quebec independent artists. The event is produced by the Quebec Independent Music Association which is also behind the Montreal International Music Initiative (MIMI). KATAKLYSM has released the following statement in regards to this rather flattering victory:
“KATAKLYSM would like to thank the board of judges and all the people that voted for ‘Prevail’. We were super psyched as it was just to be nominated but now that we’ve actually won we can’t really explain how great it feels. It’s definitely an honor, especially since we were up against some great artists. What a great way to start our North American tour in a few days! We can’t wait to get out there and show the rest of the world what Quebec already knows; KATAKLYSM will ‘Prevail’!"
Those that were nominated this year included:
TEARS FOR THE SKY - "Boredomville II"
MENACE RUINE - "Cult of Ruins"
KOSMOS - "Kosmos"
ION DISSONANCE - "Minus The Herd"
KATAKLYSM - "Prevail"

German metallers, Caliban, issue the following update:
"We are currently in the pre-production-state and full speed working to move into the studio in a couple of weeks and record the successor of The Awakening. Be curious for the new songs, they're going to turn out a lot more somber compared to the last album! And that won't mean the only improvement, for the upcoming record we are in the middle of negotiations with a few labels! We were able to get an idea of the offers we received so far, and we already picked a favourite. The release date for the finished disk is going to be in Spring 2009, around March/April. The visual equivalent to the songs will be provided by Basti Basti of Callejon, who is going to add some dark touch to the album, he is responsible for the artwork of Heaven Shall Burn and War From a Harlots Mouth, just to name some." Kreator has announced that their forthcoming new album will be entitled, "Hordes Of Chaos" and will be released on January 16th via SPV Records.
Hordes Of Chaos was recorded at Berlin’s Tritonus studios under the direction of producer Moses Schneider. Schneider is renowned for his fresh and exceptionally dynamic working methods with bands and artists such as Beatsteaks and Tocotronic. “We consciously decided on Moses as our producer for the live recording of the basic tracks at the studio,” band mastermind Mille Petrozza explains. “This was the first time since Pleasure To Kill that we worked in this way. The new album is a 100% realistic reflection of Kreator’s live qualities. Instead of exploring every little detail to sterile perfection with the help of computer technology, this time around we wanted to deliver as dynamic a production as possible. There can be no doubt that we’ve achieved our target in Hordes Of Chaos.” The album was mixed in London by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Bullet For My Valentine, Cradle Of Filth, etc.).
The new studio album will be available in three different versions. The jewel case edition includes the ten regular album songs, and the deluxe version features an additional bonus DVD with an atmospheric making-of in super-8 quality courtesy of a Berlin film maker. As a third option, the ultra deluxe version, comes with a t-shirt, a worthwhile photo book and an extended version of the bonus DVD, as well as the CD.
As early as January, Kreator musicians Mille Petrozza (guitar, vocals), drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil, bassist Christian Giesler and guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö will embark on their two-month European tour alongside Caliban and Eluveite.
