Pretty Maids Confirmed For 70,000 Tons Of Metal

The organizers of the upcoming 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise have issued the following announcement about confirming Pretty Maids for the floating festival:

"It's getting to be winter up there in the Baltics. The days are getting shorter and you have to wait long periods to see the sun. Tired of waiting in Finland, they sailed over to Denmark. After they passed through the Great Belt they made a short stop in the city of Horsens. They should have gone there earlier, because you know what they found? Some really PRETTY MAIDS! Full steam ahead through the Skagerrak!

"Make no mistake, 70000TONS OF METAL is not your grandma's cruise. It's also not one of the cruises that share the ship with normal cruise guests. This is an all heavy metal cruise! Can you imagine that? A whole luxury cruise ship full of metalheads? And since there is no backstage area you will have the opportunity to mingle side-by-side with the artists in this incredibly fan-friendly scenario that has no comparison. It's like everyone has a backstage pass!

"70000TONS OF METAL will sail Monday, January 23, 2012 aboard the Royal Caribbean “Majesty of the Seas” from Miami FL to George Town, Cayman Islands and will not return you to the real world for four days until Friday, January 27, 2012."

Eluveitie Posts Update On "Helvetios"

Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie checked in with the following studio blog update on the recording of "Helvetios" from guitarist/vocalist Sime Koch:

"Finally we’ve got some time to give you updates on the rest of the recordings for “Helvetios”. Watch out for new posts during the next few days! Sime goes first:

"Originally, Chrigel was supposed to record the Mandola. But since he was busy with an abundance of other instruments, I stepped in. Which wasn’t too much of a change since I’m playing it live during some of our shows anyway.

"Both the mandola and the acoustic guitars have been recorded at the Soundfarm studio in Kriens, Switzerland. After testing plenty of microphones the perfect guitar sound was found quickly, and while Tommy went through the test recordings we were already tracking the first mandola-parts. Since the mandola is not much in the foreground on the new record this was rather painless. After that we were ready to move on with the first recordings using my favourite acoustic guitar, a Tacoma USA (R.I.P.). Besides one little exception, all songs have been recorded in standard E tuning (unlike on “Evocation I” and “Everything Remains”). Only one small interlude was played in a D-A-D-G-A-D. Everything was done within one, although very long, single day."

Eluveite Updates Studio Progress, Announces Guest

Folk metal band Eluveite checked in from the studio on the progress of the recording of the forthcoming LP "Helvetios" with the following:

"We are really happy and proud to announce we could win our desired candidate over for those parts: The brilliant scottish actor Alexander “Sandy” Morton (66). He might be known to you from some of his latest movies, such as 'Valhalla Rising' or 'London to Brighton.' With his deep, rough and orotund voice he’s just perfect for 'Helvetios.'

"Alexander ‘Sandy’ Morton in 'Valhalla Rising'

"Last Friday I conducted the recording of the spoken parts in London. Everything went well and I just can say that it was a real pleasure to work with Sandy. Besides the fact that he’s a really nice fella, he turned out to be great and professional to work with. He empathised with the characters dealt with on „Helvetios“ and he really got the spirit and experienced the lyrics.
Well, the result I just can describe as: Fucking epic shit!

"I’d like to thank Sandy again for an awesome performance here, and also thanks to everybody at Earache Voices.

"So, one more little part of our upcoming album is recorded, one more tessella is set!"

Eluveitie Issues Recording Update

Swiss folk metal act Eluveitie has issued the following update about the recording process for the upcoming "Helvetios" release:

"Well, what is there to say? Other than maybe f**k yes, the drums are done! After 4 days of intense recording and another 2 of experimenting we’ve finished all 12 of the full album songs and with them the very finest drum parts I’ve played on an Eluveitie album so far. And yes, you heard right, I just revealed another bit of information: Twelve full songs will be featured on Helvetios, amongst some shorter and more mellow tracks.

"So, to sum things up: Tommy Vetterli has once again proved why we chose him for more than just pushing some faders: Incredible ears and a talent to get the very best out of the performing musicians are yet again being combined with what I think are the strongest Eluveitie songs so far.

"Ivo has started the guitars, and we can’t wait to hear the result in a few weeks. I realize you all are going to have to be patient for a little longer than that, but rest assured, it’s going to be f**king worth it. With these word’s my part is done for now, but I’m sure Ivo will take over and give you an update soon."
