11:00am. After two full days of brushing my teeth with bottled water, “morning” and “night” (relative terms), without a sink, I have toothpaste streaked in white stains all over my army-green shorts. I’ve already lost count of people who’ve asked me how much I’ve been jerking it.
12:00pm. A bracing gust of wind pummels the gazebo. So far, the guy lines and tent pegs anchoring the flimsy metal stanchions to the ground have held (with some occasional coaxing), but they’ve taken a beating from the continuous breeze. We’re situated on the crest of a slope that scoops up the air and sends it hurtling into our camp. More...

Swiss folk act Eluveitie posted up a preview video featuring a snippet of an exclusive unreleased song entitled "Divico." The song was partly composed 10 years ago, in late 2002 and was originally supposed to appear on Eluveitie's demo, today known as "Vên," but the track wasn't finished in time. Since then, it laid idle until this spring when it was finished!
The song will appear on the band's 10th Anniversary 2CD digipak entitled "The Early Years." The release will contain the re-mastered version of the debut full length "Spirit" along with the fully re-recorded version of the debut EP "Vên." "The Early Years" was released on August 17, 2012 in Europe and will see a September 25, 2012 North American release through Nuclear Blast.

This year's Summer Breeze festival will be taking place from August 16th - 18th, with full details available at the festival's website here. The organizers of Summer Breeze have now issued the following announcement about confirming new bands:
"Since the release of their amazing breakthrough album 'Inwards', Dew-Scented have been at the forefront of European thrash metal. Since then, the cool bunch led by frontman Leif Jensen have been producing fantastic albums full of unstoppable riff power and overwhelming intensity at nicely regular intervals, cementing the band's excellent reputation time and again. In 2012, Dew-Scented aim at kick-starting their career with an entirely new line-up – with the exception of band boss Leif – and the fantastic new album 'Icarus', and are gearing up to shatter the Summer Breeze Open Air into small pieces. We are stoked to welcome the indestructible machine called Dew-Scented at our festival once more. Get thrashed!
"When Agrypnie played the Summer Breeze festival in 2008 for the first and only time so far, they were booked as consolation for all those who were mourning the recent disbanding of Nocte Obducta. Four years, one studio album and one EP later, the Hessians have made a career for themselves, having now reached the same level as the aforementioned group. Their new studio album is still being recorded as we speak, but their last EP 'Asche' was already an announcement for big things to come in the realm of post black metal. Expressive, multi-faceted, melancholic, dynamic – all these attributes fit Agrypnie like a glove and are underlined by the fact that their songs don't ever become predictable or interchangable. One of the most exciting bands our scene has to offer nowadays."
The Summer Breeze 2012 bill now looks like: More...
As was previously announced, Swiss founder of the “New Wave Of Folk Metal” will sweeten your summer with a new CD package over the course of its 10th anniversary.

Swiss folk masters Eluveitie will celebrate the band's 10th Anniversary this year by releasing a 2CD digipak entitled "The Early Years" containing the debut full length "Spirit" along with the newly re-recorded version of the debut release/EP "Vên." The band are currently re-recording the EP with Coroner guitarist Tommy Vetterli (a/k/a Tommy T. Baron) at Newsound Studio. Frontman Chrigel Glanzmann commented on the release: " 'The Early Years' will give both old and new fans access to the very first steps in Eluveitie’s history. I can't believe it’s been ten years already! Speaking of that, to celebrate our ten year anniversary (2002-2012) we wanted to offer you something special. Therefore we have decided to re-record the tracks of our first EP Vên! We had a lot of fun putting those songs on tape again – some of which we have been playing live to this day and that have developed together with us over all these years."
Swiss folk metal act Eluveitie, which will be appearing at the upcoming Summer Breeze festival, has now issued the following announcement about a U.K. tour in November:
"UK tour, including Ireland & Scotland, in November! We are happy to unveil yet another leg of our current Helvetios World Tour, which will join forces with Sabaton this fall. The tour will continue throughout the UK in November, including our very first appearances in Ireland!"

2.11.12, UK, Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall
3.11.12, UK, Manchester HMV Ritz

6.11.12, IRE, Dublin Button Factory
7.11.12, IRE, Belfast The Limelight

The organizers of the upcoming Summer Breeze 2012 festival have issued the following update about confirming new acts:
"Italy is not exactly a hotbed for dark doom metal. Fortunately enough, there are always exceptions to confirm the rule. With the three albums they have released so far, The Foreshadowing have provided a master class in gloom and doom. Hailing from Rome, the band prove that it is indeed possible to write great atmospheric songs without falling into excessive pathos and kitsch. Especially singer Marco Benevento's clear, ear-piercing vocals take the group's material to a level which is only populated by bands such as Katatonia, My Dying Bride, early Anathema and even Opeth. Don't miss this black pearl of darkness! You will hardly experience anything bigger, darker and more epic at Summer Breeze 2012!
"Breakdowns aren't exactly the most innovative element in metal nowadays... However, if you use them with such conviction and vehemence as Bleed From Within, even the most athletically challenged of metalheads should soon mutate into pit fighter number one. The UK band have two albums out which should appeal to fans of As I Lay Dying, Bring Me The Horizon and Parkway Drive, while at times Bleed From Within are even more melodic than the aforementioned bands, only to dive into a brutal breakdown the very next second. All fans of metalcore and deathcore should highlight this band in their personal running order, as this is the perfect stuff for all of them!"
The 2012 edition of the Summer Breeze festival will be taking place from August 16th - 18th, with full details available here. The organizers of the festival have now announced the following bands being added to the bill:
Born from pain
Night in gales
While she sleeps
The festival's lineup is now as follows: More...
Sabaton, who recently announced the mutual split of four band members and announcing the new lineup has posted up the tour trailer for the "Swedish Empire" tour for both North American and European dates. Check out Metal Underground's latest show review of the band's ongoing U.S. tour with Children of Bodom and Revocation at this location.
Check out the video here:
Last year, Children of Bodom earned a gold record in its native Finland for selling 10,000 copies of "Relentless Reckless Forever” on its release date. Add this to career sales in their country and the group has sold over 250,000 records, making them one of Finland’s best selling artists of all time. In America, 250,000 units will get them halfway to a gold record; that is if we were counting individual recordings. Still, the group has found its way to the ears of enough Americans to warrant a headlining tour in celebration of the group’s 15th birthday.
Children of Bodom has spent the better part of the new millennium on the road in America, supporting some of metal’s biggest acts. I saw Children of Bodom twice in 2004. Once, they supported Lamb of God and Fear Factory. Another time they went out with Ripper Owens and Iced Earth. Eluveitie, Revocation and Threat Signal have assumed the warm-up spots so familiar to the melodic death/power metal act. Several of Emo’s patrons wore BLS shirts as a reminder of Children of Bodom’s 2010 showing in Austin with Black Label Society. More...
Revocation is currently on tour with Eluveitie and Threat Signal as part of Children of Bodom’s 15th anniversary tour. Although the group has completed tours with artists such as Chimaira, Impending Doom, Forbidden, White Wizzard and Havok, the group states this is the biggest tour of its career.
Before taking the stage at Emo’s in Austin, Texas, drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne, guitarist David Davidson and bassist Anthony Buda gave Metal Underground the following exclusive tour report: More...
