Below is our complete Eluveitie news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
After announcing its split with Meri Tadic, Swiss folk metal institution Eluveitie is pleased to officially announce Nicole Ansperger as the band's new violinist. Eluveitie comments:
"As hard as farewells can be, as auspicious are new beginnings! We are thrilled to introduce to you Meri's successor. We consider ourselves lucky to have found a true master of Celtic Folk fiddling! A full-blooded musician and violin player through and through, she has played countless shows over many years and also played as a session musician for many well-known acts (such as The Hooters, for instance).
"During the last ten years she further made a name for herself through her engagement with the Irish folk rock bands Paddy Goes To Holyhead and Across The Border, but also the renowned medieval/classical metal act Haggard. Not only a virtuoso of the fiddle, she also plays the 7-stringed violin as well as the cello! So, ladies and gentlemen - please welcome to the Eluveitie camp: Nicole Ansperger!”
Nicole also adds: “Dear Eluveitie fans, I am absolutely delighted to be Eluveitie’s new violin player. I love Eluveitie’s music and have been a fan myself for a long time. Is there anything better than getting to play for the band you love? I am looking forward to many sweat-inducing, incredible shows with you and the band. See you on stage!”
Nicole will join on stage with Eluveitie for the first time at the upcoming "Eluveitie & Friends" festival and will play a brand new song from the group's next album.
Swiss folk metal institution Eluveitie is parting ways on mutual agreement with longtime violinist Meri Tadic at the end of 2013.
The “Eluveitie & Friends III” festival, which will take place on December 28th, 2013 in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, will be the final appearance of the eight piece music act. The band comments:
"There is an end to all things‘ is a saying. Nevertheless, having to say goodbye is never easy. Meri has been an important part of Eluveitie for 11 years – we have played hundreds of shows around the globe together! We will miss Meri, but foremost we want to say: Thank you for 11 years spent together!
"Every ending means a new start and a new chance. We are looking forward to working with Meri’s successor very much and to have new musical influences this way – we are in the midst of a creative working progress for our new album. In this sense this means: Excitement & creative mode: ON!"
Meri also comments:
"After 11 years of Eluveitie I have decided that it is time for me to move on. I have had the privilege to live through wonderful and unique years on stage and on the road as well as rough ones within the band. My decision has absolutely nothing to do with Irij and the upcoming album. Since many of you know i already have been involved with Irij for quite a few years now. Nevertheless i'll continue with and evolve on my musical journey and thus focusing on the new release, debut shows, rehearsals, new influences and possibilities. More...

Folk metal act Eluveitie, named as the best live act of 2012 during our annual best-of awards, has checked in with the following announcement about getting stuck out on tour:
"It is with much regret that we have to announce that we are stuck in Poland, roughly 800 km from Vilnius, in a broken bus. Even though we have tried all possible options, neither we nor our friends from Wisdom will be able to make the show tonight.
"We are absolutely devastated to miss this gig, which was to be Eluveitie's second appearance in Lithuania and the first since our appearance with Kreator in 2009. We hope to be able to make it up to our Lithuanian fans soon!" More...
Metalunderground.com wishes all our regulars and newcomers a happy new year as we look forward to a 2013 full of improvements and hopefully even more awesome metal than the preceding year. The 2011 “best of the year” piece ended up so late it actually became an April Fool’s joke (with “Lulu” of course winning the top album spot), but this time around we’re going to dive right into a retrospective of the last 365 days of metal and how they impacted the scene at large.
Recent years have been fairly uneven for metal, punctuated by stellar releases surrounded by flops and mediocre albums from the big names. We’ve seen the continuing sad decline of some of the oldest and biggest names in metal in the past few years, but 2012 shook that up and was a year where the underground earned a greater focus.
2012 was a highly productive year for several prominent sub-genres (power, prog, and djent all saw a horde of releases from acts both known and unknown), but a little more sparse for others (there were only a handful of symphonic black metal releases by established bands.) Considering the sheer number of albums, EPs, singles, demos, etc. that see the light of day per year, we’re inevitably going to end up overlooking some that were definitely good releases, so please accept our apologies in advance if a band you dig didn’t get a nod. We love all forms of metal, and there’s just no way to cover everything that happened in 2012 in a single article.
While 2012 was an off-year on the release schedule for some of the highest profile acts, there were still plenty of bands in the upper echelons that dropped new material. Metaldom saw albums hit from the likes of Between the Buried and Me, Therion, The Sword, Dethklok, Cradle of Filth, Kamelot, Enslaved, Katatonia, Korpiklaani, Borknagar, and Lacuna Coil. Obviously that alone covers a huge range of sound, and we also got to hear some highly anticipated new material from God Seed, Ministry, Wintersun, Baroness, Meshuggah, Woods of Ypres, and Ex Deo. Some of those ended up being worth the hype, while others didn’t meet the high level of expectation, and below you’ll see how our contributors voted on last year’s releases.
Before we jump into the different categories and winners, I’d like to mention how this was such a good year for bands that mash up genres. Fans of different styles colliding were in for a treat as cross-genre experimentation seems to be becoming more of the norm these days. The Wretched End blended together death and thrash, Diablo Swing Orchestra worked swing music into metal, Kontrust melds pop and metal, Stealing Axion worked through just about every sub-genre that exists, and Nachtblut blurred the lines between industrial and symphonic black metal. It seems like this trend is running strong and cross pollination is going to widen metal fan’s musical horizons and introduce mainstream music enthusiasts into the more extreme stuff. More...

11:00am. After two full days of brushing my teeth with bottled water, “morning” and “night” (relative terms), without a sink, I have toothpaste streaked in white stains all over my army-green shorts. I’ve already lost count of people who’ve asked me how much I’ve been jerking it.
12:00pm. A bracing gust of wind pummels the gazebo. So far, the guy lines and tent pegs anchoring the flimsy metal stanchions to the ground have held (with some occasional coaxing), but they’ve taken a beating from the continuous breeze. We’re situated on the crest of a slope that scoops up the air and sends it hurtling into our camp. More...

The song was partly composed 10 years ago, in late 2002 and was originally supposed to appear on Eluveitie's demo, today known as "Vên," but the track wasn't finished in time. This year's Summer Breeze festival will be taking place from August 16th - 18th, with full details available at the festival's website here. The organizers of Summer Breeze have now issued the following announcement about confirming new bands:
"Since the release of their amazing breakthrough album 'Inwards', Dew-Scented have been at the forefront of European thrash metal. Since then, the cool bunch led by frontman Leif Jensen have been producing fantastic albums full of unstoppable riff power and overwhelming intensity at nicely regular intervals, cementing the band's excellent reputation time and again. In 2012, Dew-Scented aim at kick-starting their career with an entirely new line-up – with the exception of band boss Leif – and the fantastic new album 'Icarus', and are gearing up to shatter the Summer Breeze Open Air into small pieces. We are stoked to welcome the indestructible machine called Dew-Scented at our festival once more. Get thrashed!
"When Agrypnie played the Summer Breeze festival in 2008 for the first and only time so far, they were booked as consolation for all those who were mourning the recent disbanding of Nocte Obducta. Four years, one studio album and one EP later, the Hessians have made a career for themselves, having now reached the same level as the aforementioned group. Their new studio album is still being recorded as we speak, but their last EP 'Asche' was already an announcement for big things to come in the realm of post black metal. Expressive, multi-faceted, melancholic, dynamic – all these attributes fit Agrypnie like a glove and are underlined by the fact that their songs don't ever become predictable or interchangable. One of the most exciting bands our scene has to offer nowadays."
The Summer Breeze 2012 bill now looks like: More...
As was previously announced, Swiss founder of the “New Wave Of Folk Metal” will sweeten your summer with a new CD package over the course of its 10th anniversary.
