Eluveitie Parts With Violin Player

It is with great regret that Eluveitie has to announce the departure of violin player Nicole Ansperger. The band enjoyed a wonderful year of adventures with Nicole, circling the globe and completing the first part of the "Origins" world tour together. Eluveitie comments:

“Unfortunately, it can be extremely difficult to manage personal obligations and take care of a family alongside a life of constant touring, and Nicole’s priorities are with her family - where they should be. We are parting amicably and would like to thank Nicole for the good times and her musical contribution. It’s been an honour to share stage and studio with such a talented musician!“

Nicole would like to add a few words herself: “Dear fans, as mentioned before, it can become pretty difficult to reconcile personal obligations and the touring life. A lot of things have changed within my family and my personal situation during the last twelve months; and now my familial situation makes it impossible to me to be on the road with my band constantly.

"After careful consideration and with a heavy and bleeding heart I made the decision to leave Eluveitie. I was a very hard step to me and I will miss Eluveitie - the music, the band, the crew and very much also YOU, the fans! I wanna thank you all - you‘ve been the best fans of the world to me! You rock, you‘ve been wonderful and I won‘t forget you!

"Also I‘d like to thank my mates in Eluveitie - thank you for the amazing and intense time we had together! Yo‘`ll always be in my remembrance! I wish you all the very best for your future ways and of course I wish you a awesome new fiddle player. :) This certainly doesn‘t mean an end to my musical career. Music will always be a very important part of my life and who knows - maybe we‘ll see each other again one day. Keep on rockin‘, guys & girls!" More...

Epica Announces European Tour With Eluveitie

Epica has announced a co-headlining tour of Europe with Switzerland's Eluveitie this fall. In support is modern metal masters Scar Symmetry.

Guitar player Isaac Delahaye says the following about the tour: "Oh boy, I'm super stoked for this! What better way to end our The Quantum Enigma world tour than to team up with a band who's – just like us – mixing 2 different genres into something special; a great metal band with a catchy folk topping. Yummie! Add some delicious riffing from our favourite Swedes, and you can expect a lot of coolio and 3 bands on top of their game. You wanna hear an orchestra? You wanna see a fiddler? You wanna steal tasty soloing ideas? Or do you just wanna have a great metal night in the pit? We've got it all."

Epica is supporting its latest album "The Quantum Enigma" (see review here), Eluveitie is still supporting its latest "Origins" (see review here) and Scar Symmetry is supporting "The Singularity (Phase I: Neohumanity)" (see review here).

Patrick Kistler Comments On Departing Eluveitie

Last week Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie announced the departure of Patrick (Päde) Kistler, and now he has checked in with the following statement about the parting of ways:

"So the latest news from the Eluveitie camp is spread for a couple of days now. In this time I got a huge amount of messages where i constantly get asked about the why and how. So instead of responding to each person seperately i would like to settle a statement myself about my leave from Eluveitie. Neither was it my desire nor my decision to leave the Band.

"After incredible 6 and a half years of a with lots of experiences on the road, personal issues increased within the past 12 months in my life as well as in the Eluveitie hood. I have been going through some personal difficulties and changes in my life that also affected the relationship to some band members and my ability to fulfill the expectations (no, no addiction problem and they are solved in the meantime). So this all got more exaggerated within the past stressful months of the album production and intensive touring. In the end the majority of the band decided to expel me from the Eluveitie hood by a democratic vote, we're still very Swiss.

"Of course this isn't easy at all to get along with and more so to accept that those people I spent almost more time together throughout the past years than with any other person in my life, wanted me to leave. I have been dedicated to this project Eluveitie not only with spending a big amount of my attention, more so about all that makes Eluveitie unique and outstanding: the storytelling of history. Therefore I take the right to adjust Eluveities current album 'Origins' epigraph: 'We need to know were we come from to know who we are.' In that sense I wish the project Eluveitie all the best for it's future and I hope that Chrigel can go on with his dream for a long time. Some others might have forgotten that a band is not a 'Blue-Chip' company with radical human resource politics, it's a band that lives from the individuals, vibes and the dedication each one provides in it's very own way to the greater whole. Eluveitie Parts Ways With Päde Kistler

Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie just issued the following announcement about parting ways with Päde Kistler:

"With a heavy heart we have to share with you the news that Päde is no longer a part of Eluveitie. After six years and four albums, he leaves big shoes to fill. While we have no further comment at this time, we would like to wish him all the best for his future endeavours.

"At the same time, we can announce that we have already found a very talented musician to step in and keep the show going: multi-instrumentalist Matteo Sisti, from our friends and colleagues at Krampus, has not hesitated to jump in and learn our full set in just a few days.

"A big THANK YOU goes out to Matteo and Krampus at this point - in the midst of the European leg of our Origins World Tour, their support is much appreciated. Matteo is joining us as a temporary session musician for the remainder of this tour. We can’t wait to rock the stages together for you!"

Metalunderground.com Official Podcast, Episode 34

Submissions are now closed for our ticket giveaway to see The Black Dahlia Murder at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this Monday, October 13th. But you can still submit your full name (matching your ID) and the headlining band in the email subject to podcast@metalunderground.com if you’d like to win a ticket to Attila on Friday, November 14th at the same venue.

We kick off this week’s MetalUnderground.com Official Podcast with some more unsigned talent: traditional/power metal act Sacred Ash of Westchester, New York. Formed in 2012, the band released an EP last year titled “Beneath Blackened Skies.”

Following that, co-hosts Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) and Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) kick around some ideas and reactions to some buzz-worthy metal topics of the week. Are Swiss folk metal octet Eluveitie corporate sellouts for accepting a sponsorship from automaker Honda, or are they completely sensible, given today’s difficulties in sustaining a metal music career? Who or what was truly responsible for the demise of the previous incarnation of Sweden’s The Haunted? Is founding guitarist Patrik Jensen’s explanation a fair one? And speaking of fair, who really pulled the plug on a recently cancelled Behemoth concert on a Polish university campus? Another grave injustice, or more drama queendom from bandleader Nergal?

Tune in here to listen, and don’t forget to subscribe on iTunes or RSS feed. Enjoy!
