Evergrey is a progressive metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was founded in 1995 and released its debut album The Dark Discovery in 1998. Evergrey's lyrics have always been of the darker sort, and the same can be said of the band's imagery. While The Dark Discovery dealt with a variety of ideas, many later albums have been concept albums, dealing with issues like self-reformation (Recreation Day), paranoia, alien abduction (In Search of Truth), child abuse, cults and religion (The Inner Circle).

The mighty German heavy metal festival, Wacken, has leant its European marketing muscle to the U.K. in a global demonstration of support for the launch of Bloodstock Open Air (B-O-A) — the leading independent U.K. festival that is dedicated to heavy metal music.
With Wacken's support, B-O-A will be an international Mecca for heavy metal music fans, producing a metal fest to match any in Europe. Thousands of fans are expected to converge on Catton Hall in Derbyshire on June 24-25 to experience an incredible lineup of European legends alongside fresh U.K. talent; solid rhythm making, blood-pounding, adrenalin fuelled metal! Tuska Open Air Metal Festival has added more international and Finnish acts to the 2005 roster. The line-up is almost complete with only 1 more artist to be added for Saturday afternoon as well as the winner from the band contest at Rotonde-Festival, France, which is to be held later this spring. This year's Tuska-Festival is more international than ever, with nearly half of the artists coming from abroad. The evening clubs will most likely see some international action as well.
New additions in Finnish professionalism will be represented by Apocalyptica, whose cello metal is witnessed way too rarely on their native soil. Apocalytica just recently supported Rammstein on their European tour and appeared stateside on a few selected dates.
German precision and universal greatness is brought to you by the mighty Gamma Ray. The band last appeared on the bill at Tuska 2000 and have since built their fanbase by selling out club shows on a regular basis.
Other additions include up-and-coming death metallers Amoral, Finnish-singing Stam1na and Viikate, as well as Callisto who are about to embark on a European tour in a few weeks.
The search continues for one more, either domestic or foreign artist.
Ticket sales for Tuska 2005 start on Friday April 1st. Three-day ticketcosts 67 euro, one-day ticket 32 euro. Go to www.lippupalvelu.fi to purchase tickets.

CD Specialisten (Gothenburg, Sweden) is hosting an Evergrey CD signing session on Monday, March 14 at 6PM. Stop by and visit with the band who are promoting the release of their new Live CD "A Night to Remember".
The Project Hate, the Swedish band featuring Jörgen Sandström of Entombed/Grave fame on lead vocals, are currently recording their new album with producer Dan Swanö at Dan's studio in Örebro, Sweden. The band have posted the following studio update on their official web site:
A few days ago we considered ourselves completely finished with the guitars and made a back-up disc of all the material (actually the guitars have been finished longer than that but we never got around to make a back-up disc of it), so now we are safe in case anything unexpected happens to the computers.
Jörgen's vocals looks like they will be put down in Stockholm (in the same studio where Vicious Art — Jörgen's other band, recorded their debut album) at March 12th and 13th. Ms. Jo's stuff is planned to be recorded in Örebro the weekend after that, so we are definitely getting closer to completing this piece of domination.
Bassist Michael Håkansson of Evergrey has now gotten all of the material and has started to work with the bass for the album. Nope, he's not a member of TPH, he's just helping out as the good lad he is. We thank him for wanting in on this and can promise some excellent bass-work on this album.
When everything is done as far as vocals/bass and guitars goes, K and Dan Swanö will spend some serious amount of time with the mix, which will happen in Dan's own studio.
There's no set date for release, or even for when we will complete this album, but we are planning to have everything shaped up in April, and hopefully Threeman/Candlelight can have this monster out before summer.
BLOODSTOCK 2005 will comprise 2 separate festivals. The brand new outdoor show BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR ( B-O-A ) will take place on June 24th-25th 2005 at Catton Hall, in the Midlands, with the annual BLOODSTOCK05 – UK Metalfest taking place indoors at the Assembly Rooms in Derby on 2nd-3rd September 2005.
With the indoor festival now having reached capacity within the current location, the next logical step was to find an additional location, and the decision to go outdoors was an easy choice to make as the UK does not have an outdoor Euro-style Metal festival along the lines of Wacken, Bang Your Head and Summer Breeze (DE), Gods of Metal (ITA), Sweden Rock (SWE), Graspop (B), Dynamo (N) and so many more. The current choice of venue, Catton Hall, offers a fantastic location within a rural setting, centrally located within the UK for all areas to reach easily, and yes, camping will be provided. Our initial capacity is for up to 8,000 with further growth at the site to accommodate 20,000 within a few more years. More...

A Greek concert promoter has hit back at German thrashers Destruction over their claim that the group's previously announced shows in Greece were cancelled due to a "lack of communication between promoter and agency."
A statement issued by Destruction's booking agency, A.S.S./ Dragon Productions, had blamed the cancellation of the concerts — which were scheduled to take place January 8-9, 2005 — on a "lack of communication between promoter and agency. . . The promoter wanted to cancel [projected openers] Evergrey without giving a reason, he didn't come back to us on urgent details like flights for example. This and more forces us to lay down this sad decision. Both bands will come back to Greece at a later point in time. The bands apologize for this uncomfortable situation and will surley return to Greece next year!"
Responding to the above statement, Greece's premier concert promotion agency Astra Productions have issued the following press release:
"Astra, the promoter of the cancelled show of Destruction, which had been scheduled to take place at Gagarin Live Music Space, in Athens, Greece, on Sunday, 9th of January, 2005, would like to inform the public, as well as all parties involved, that the show has been cancelled due to sudden, excessive demands made by the group, which weren't included in the initial agreement. Therefore, the promoter had no other choice but to cancel the show".

We are extremely blessed to have fans that travel all over the world just to catch a show with us and to make the night perfect! The same goes for the swedish fans who now proved to the world that Sweden fuckin'rules when it comes to metal and being louder then hell. The DVD will be fantastic, I spoke to Patric Ullaeus, our director, who said everything looked amazing so be ready when this thing hits the streets next spring. Before that though we will release an live album from the same night of course, probably looking at a February release date with the title, "A night to remember."
If anyone of you have good quality pictures from the show (or any show) please contact me firstname.lastname@example.org as we want to fill the album and DVD with a lot of great stuff!

All the best
Evergrey vocalist/guitarist Tom Englund has posted this statement in response to an Israeli promoter's explanation for the cancellation of the band's appearance the second annual Metalist Festival in Tel-Aviv, Israel:
To clear things up, when the Metalist management contacted us about doing this festival we were VERY excited to be able to see Israel cause it is a country that we never had visited before, so when the oppurtunity came we jumped on it in a second.
I will now spill out ALL the facts concerning this trip:More...
Posted on the official Evergrey website:
We are very sad to inform our friends and fans in Israel that we not will be performing at the Metalist Festival. The entire band had been looking forward to this event and it sounded like a dream come true to see Israel. Unfortunately there has been a lot of practical problems, and when the flight tickets were booked for the wrong day, there was simply no way we could travel to Israel. Please understand that this was totally out of the band's control and that we would do nothing rather than come to this festival. We will do our best to come to Israel in the autumn or the winter instead. The festival has also promised that they would explain to all at the festival that this was an error from their side and that Evergrey are not to blame. If this doesn't happen please let us know.

Evergrey have announced that they will be special guests at the September 2, 2004 show in Annexet, Stockholm for the Scorpions.
Bloodstock has shuffled their set times, so take note if you are planning to attend. This means bands will start earlier in the day on both days. Nearly all stage 2 bands will be playing during changeovers of stage 1 so you should all get to see all the bands on the bill if you want to. The festival takes place 2 weeks from today in The UK.
Here are the new set times: More...
