The EP features five tracks originally written during the band's heyday - primarily unheard as finished recordings until now.
In anticipation of this week's album release, Extrema has revealed the track "Child Abuse," which can be heard below. Guitarist Tommy Massara comments:
"'Child Abuse' is another track from our past production that never ended on an album, there is a really old version on our demo tape 'Rehearsal 1989' that I found, the same as all of the tracks on this EP. We wanted to finally record all of them for our official discography. I've always been pissed that we never recorded them before because even today, these songs are timeless - they don't sound old. This song has a strong lyric, the title says everything." More...
Classic Italian thrash metal band Extrema recently announced the upcoming release of new offering, "The Old School" EP, due out May 27th, 2016 via Punishment 18 Records.
The album features five tracks originally written during the band's heyday - primarily unheard as finished recordings until now. "The Old School" EP is available for pre-order now.
Today Extrema is pleased to release a brand new music video for the refreshed track "Carcasses," featuring Destrage's Ralph Salati. The "Carcasses" video was filmed, directed, and edited by Daniele Farina with additional filming from Jimmy Rey, Loris Marinoni and Nicole Alagna.
Guitarist Tommy Massara comments about the track and video: "'Carcasses' is the only track on the new EP that was never recorded before, even on a demo. I found the song on a rehearsal tape that was unheard and un-played since 1987. All we did was change up the lyrics for this EP.
"It was immediately clear to the whole band that this song was perfect for an in-your-face video. We contacted our close friend Daniele Farina to direct, film and edit the video, who also filmed and edited two of the videos from our 2013 album, The Seed of Foolishness. The place he suggested to film it is currently abandoned, a totally dangerous place for us to be and I don't think we were even supposed to be in there. But it was incredible for the video - such a cool place. The results came out amazing." More...
The Italian thrash metal ambassadors from Extrema first broke out onto the metal scene in 1985. Now, Extrema is ready to unleash a latest offering and follow-up to 2013's "The Seed of Foolishness," entitled "The Old School" EP.
This new mini-album is due out May 27th, 2016 via Punishment 18 Records. Vocalist G.L. Perotti and co. have churned out a classic metal burner featuring five tracks originally written during the band's heyday - primarily unheard as finished recordings until now.
"The Old School" EP is available for pre-order now at this location. Recorded last year at Fear Studios in Alfonsine (Ravenna, Italy) with "The Seed of Foolishness" producer Gabry Ravaglia, these tracks do not just prompt the "old school" cliché - they are the real deal - recorded in classic brutal fashion with only minimal writing tweaks. Extrema - led by Tommy Massara’s abrasive guitars and energetic personality - got its start in Milan, Italy, back in 1986 and has been playing heavy and fast since before many of the group's current fans were even born.
During 30 years of activity, Extreme has built a faithful and cross-generational following worldwide, releasing a number of albums, EPs (all recently remastered and reissued with bonus tracks) and a DVD, toured with the likes of Motörhead and Death Angel, and opened for Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies, Korn and many others.
No stranger to controversy, Extrema recorded singles with Italian rappers Articolo 31, causing a ruckus in both the metal and rap communities. 2013 saw the release of latest full-length album "The Seed of Foolishness" and more relentless touring around Europe.
May 27th, 2016 will mark the launch of "The Old School" EP via Punishment 18 Records, featuring two powerful guests: Ralph Salati (Destrage) and Bob Capka (ex-Vicious Rumours). A promo video regarding the song "Carcasses" is scheduled to be released online in May. More...
