Last Known Status: Active
Onheil was founded in the autumn of 1999. A few succesful demos lead them to the recording of their first official release, 'The Threat'. This very well recieved mini-cd was released in 2003 by the now deceased War Cry Productions. Unfortunatly, due to not being able to find a suitable drummer for recordings, Onheil has only been able to do live shows since then with several (session) drummers.
In the beginning of 2007 a new line-up was formed. This line-up now contains 2 lead vocalists and 3 guitarists, giving them more possibilities to perfect their own 'Black Metal Iron Maiden'-sound for which they are praised.

Onheil has been confirmed to play the highly acclaimed open air festival Stonehenge in the Netherlands. Other bands that will be attending are Austrian black/death metallers Belphegor, Italian Thrashers Sadist and German Melodic Death Metallers Burden Of Grief. This will be the only live show Onheil is going to do the coming months. At the Stonehengefestival a recordlabel/concertpromoter-only promo CD will be on sale, especially for the die-hard fans who can't wait for the next album to be recorded later this year. This will be a one-time only sale, which means the promo CD won't be available anywhere else.
The promo CD, called "Razor," features four totally new songs and a re-recorded version of "As Hope Dies," Onheil's 2007 single and videoclip. According to singer/guitarist Amok: "The new material will probably surprise a lot of people as it's quite different from our older stuff. Diversity is what we are aiming for with our next album. The songs are faster, more furious and more agressive than even before. Yet we have mixed this with more melodies and slower parts. Also the fact that we now have 2 lead vocalists and 3 guitarists gives us more possibilities to create something original."
