CIRCUS MAXIMUS singer Michael Eriksen and finnish producer/guitarist Torsti Spoof (LEVERAGE) have decided to join forces together in a new band project under The Magnificent moniker. Other musicians scheduled to appear on the album include Kalle Torniainen of Brother Firetribe on drums and Pekka Lampinen of Leverage on bass.
Songwriting is well underway and sees contributions also from Pekka Heino (BROTHER FIRETRIBE, LEVERAGE), Tomppa Nikulainen (BROTHER FIRETRIBE), Tuomas Heikkinen (LEVERAGE) and Sami Hyde and others. Soundwise the album will sound like a cross between the heavier approach of Leverage with the hooks and melodies of Brother Firetribe. The recording will be completed during the winter, with Frontiers looking to release the debut album after the summer 2010.

Finnish metallers Leverage have issued the following update about recruiting a new bassist:
"Sami Norrbacka is the new member of Leverage. The original bass player Pekka Lampinen has stepped aside for private reasons. Norrbacka has been Leverage's live bass player for all of '09, and is now an official member of the band. Pekka Lampinen is an awesome musician, and we've been lucky to have him in this band. A big thank you for that, bro. We wish you all the best and good health. Sami has practically been in the band band for some time already filling in for Pekka live. He's proven he's a rock solid player and a great guy to work with. So when this situation emerged, it was a given that we'd ask him to become a permanent member of Leverage. Welcome aboard!"
Comments Pekka Lampinen: "Many friendly fans have asked on several forums about the whereabouts of Pekka Lampinen. I announce now, that I am no longer a member of Leverage. The reasons are a personal matter. I've been with the band all the way from the beginning, but now it is time to take some distance. This doesn't mean that I will abandon making music all together, but that now there is time to heal and gather strength for the future. I want to thank the whole band for the times together, and especially the loyal fans that have year in year out come to the gigs and supported this great band. It is good to continue on from here. Rock on!" More...

Finnish metallers Leverage have issued the following update about recording new material:
"A few words on the keyboard sessions...
"Once again I played and recorded things in the basement of our home. There's a place which I call "studio"/personal playground of mine...in other words 'RyhäPaja'.
"Just like with the Blind Fire-sessions, a huge thanks to Jari Mikkola who spent 'some' time to extract recorded audio files from Studio Audio's ProTools-sessions, one track for each instrument...including vocs and backing vocs. Once you have those files, it's quite easy to "search and find" a pleasant balance to work with. And for me, this is pretty important because it's not just about recording stuff, but also about arranging things at the same time. More...
Finnish metallers Leverage have posted a new studio video clip online, which can be viewed below. The band also issued the following recording update:
"Well, finally we got around to record my bass parts. Originally, I was supposed to record those at the beginning of June, but my I broke my back recently and it just wasn´t healed enough to play bass then. This time we recorded straight to line which meant that my Ampeg-mountain was not needed. I played all the bass parts with my trusted and excellent G&L 2500-bass.
"This time (as usual) bass parts were recorded under the supervision of Tuomas Heikkinen while Jari Mikkola took care of engineering and additional guidance. Torsti took care of vacationing... :)
"On the first day I played 4 songs composed by Tuomas. He orchestrated those sessions with Zappa-like toughness giving helpful tips and guidelines about my playing regarding some nyances etc. Jari also was another helpful pair of ears during those sessions. More...
Finnish metallers Leverage have issued the following recording update:
"We spent two fun days recording the majority of the rhythm guitar tracks + a few extra lines. We've got some kick-ass stuff on the way, and we really had a blast bashing away with the new riffs. We both played at the same time, like we've done before, and our friend Jari 'The tyrant engineer' was also there again hitting Rec and then either passing or failing us both at the end of a take. This time we both played our ESP 7-strings for most of the time, Torsti had his precious Bogner and I had the trusty Engl Invader for the amps, they sure know how to capture a big guitar sound at Studio Audio, the guitars really growl. We'll do a couple more songs next week, they need their drums recorded first. 'Til then. "
A video of the band recording rhythm guitars can also be viewed below. More...

Frontiers Records report that Finish melodic metallers LEVERAGE have finished the production of their yet-untitled second album.
"We're very proud of the new album” states band’s guitarist and main composer Tuomas Heikkinen. “We've grown tighter as a band, we're more in touch with what Leverage really is for us, and we sure pushed ourselves writing, rehearsing and recording. The album has 10 melodic songs that include the heaviest, most intense and on the other hand the most intimate moments we've been able to capture so far. We feel Tides was the best thing we could come up with at that time, we believe the second album came out as good as we hoped it would now". More...
