After years of sporadic activity, British thrash metal band Seregon, widely regarded in their time as the best British band not to be signed, has announced their return. The band has departed with bass player Lee Rugman and brought back original bassist Ben Allen and will be working on new material for release next year. A statement on their official website reads as follows:
"Firstly, with a heavy heart we bring you the news that bassist Lee Rugman has left the Seregon fold; he hasn't gone far and can be found kicking ass and taking names weekly as part of the AC/DC Tribute Juggernaut that is HELLS BELLS! Lee and Seregon find themselves with 15+ shows in the bank that took them around the UK and into mainland Europe for Festival Appearances also. We would like to take a moment to thank Lee for all he has contributed to the Seregon family on and off the stage, and consider him a friend and all round cool guy.
"So, where do we go now I hear you say? Well, best watch the video below!
"And to celebrate the above news, we have something to give you all. If you go to http://seregonuk.bandcamp.com you can download our ENTIRE back catalogue as well as a brand new, never before released Live EP from our 'A Future Expired' release show back in April 2008! So what are you waiting for? Watch the video and get downloading... NOW!

Every week in Unearthing the Metal Underground, we take a look at three quality bands that haven't gotten as much exposure yet as they should. This week we’ll be taking a second look at three bands from the West Country (the South West of England.)
One of the biggest, and quite possibly best, bands from the West Country's metal scene comes in the guise of Seregon, who formed in 2005. The band take influence from such thrash metal heroes as Testament and Sepultura (the latter of which they have shared the stage with on numerous occassions) and add a healthy dose of death metal into the fray, to create a savage sound not quite like any other. While still very much rooted in the underground, Seregon have found themselves performing outside of the United Kingdom, taking to the stage in such countries as Germany, Portugal and Romania amongst others. They are currently working on their new EP, which is expected to be released next year.
Seregon - "The Removal Of The Spine"
Young British thrash metal outfit Seregon have been added to the bill of Sepultura's concert at the Bristol Bierkeller, which will take place on Wednesday the 14th of July. Also performing at the show will be Northern Irish thrashers Gama Bomb. All three bands will be performing in support of their 2009 releases, (Sepultura's, "A-Lex", Gama Bomb's "Tales From The Grave In Space" and Seregon's "Disposable Suffering,") which can be found online.
Every week we talk with bands all over the world as they share some of their favourite stories involving metal's answer to line dancing, the mosh pit. This week, Seregon frontman James Moore told us of a new use for shoes.
"We played a show in Bristol and everyone was going apeshit, broken glass, faces, bodies and shoes flying around etc. I see one guy who gets shoved so hard he flys into the wall and his arm smashes through several pint glasses and heads straight back into the pit fist in the air with blood pissing out of his arm. The same pit with shoes flying around, one guy who is walking around pumping his fist in the air catches a shoe, then starts hitting people with the shoe all around him and then concentrates on the bloodied thrasher, quite simply the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen!"
Check back every Tuesday for more tales from the pit.
Young British thrash metal outfit Seregon has posted a lengthy blog online which looks at the how 2009 went for the band and what the future holds for them. An excerpt from the blog reads as follows:
"It's a new year and this is the first blog i've ever written. I hope to use this to write some big updates etc. or to recap on things that we have done or doing e.g. when on tour and all that!
"So yeah, 2009. It all went a bit quick I thought but the 1st of January 2009 seem's such a long time ago. For the band it has been a very succesful year in my eyes, some of the things we have accomplished this year has been jaw dropping at times. This time last year I would never of thought that we would of been playing shows in and out of the UK with some bands that have been hugely influential for us for the best part of 10+ years."

British thrash metal group Evile has revealed some more details regarding the forthcoming memorial shows the band has announced in England. The band will be joined by Irish thrash metal band Gama Bomb as well as London based thrash metal group Mutant and Bristol based thrash outfit Seregon for the shows. The concerts are being held to remember the bands bass player Mike Alexander who tragically passed away while the band was on tour with Amon Amarth last month in Sweden. A huge raffle will be taking place at the shows which include signed items from big name metal bands and limited edition prizes. The shows will be held on December 7th, 2009 at Rio's in Leeds and December 8th, 2009 at the Underworld in London. Tickets are £8 in advance and can only be purchased at the venues or £10 on the door. All money made from the shows will be going towards the family of Mike Alexander. To view a list of the raffle prizes, you can head over to the Mike Alexander memorial website.
Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake comments: "These two nights are for all the friends and fans of Mike who haven't had a real chance to say goodbye, and also for us to hold something a lot more appropriate than any funeral could be. Mike wasn't religious, and his beliefs were solely based in music, so there is no better way to say goodbye. He lived for music and metal. We picked a few bands who Mike liked and we'll no doubt be playing a few covers on the night. We're holding a raffle with LOTS of items kindly donated by some amazing people and bands from around the world. Keep an eye on our sites for details of these - please come along and grab a raffle ticket - all money is going to the family."
Gama Bomb frontman Philly Byrne adds: "It's a real honour to play these shows for Mike. He was a star of a man and a brilliant friend, and it'll be great to do something for his family and friends. We're sure everyone will show their support for him at the shows."
It has been revealed that Evile bass player Mike Alexander, who tragically passed away on October 5th while the band was on tour in Sweden with Amon Amarth, died of a pulmonary embolism (blood clot on the lungs.) He was only 32 years old.
A fund has been set up to help benefit the family of Mike Alexander and you can make a donation by clicking here. British thrash metal band Seregon recently held a special benefit show in his honour and raised £1000 (roughly $1650) for the fund.

James Moore, the vocalist of young British thrash metal outfit Seregon, has posted a message online documenting the bands recent first shows in Romania and Portugal amongst other events. It reads as follows:
"And here we are then, back in Blighty and back to reality! The last 2 weeks have been a bit of a blur, 7 flights, 3 airports, to many beers consumed to count and 2 awesome shows with the most passionate metalheads I think i've ever met!
"As you may or may not know, the festival we were scheduled to play in Romania, the ROCK CITY FEST was postponed a week before our appearance. Now this left us with 4 flight tickets and a hotel booked for 2 nights out of our own pockets and nowhere to play... but alas, all was not lost! Black Metallers Eastern Front from Ipswich who have played Romania several times offered us an olive branch as they had managed to sort a show in Bucharest at SUBURBIA Metal Club with 3 other awesome Romanian bands.
"The show was just crazy, pit after pit after pit, stage diving left right and centre and your's truly pretending to be Spiderman climbing the lighting rigs and PA Stacks and bailing into the crowd to have some fun! A big thank you to the Eastern Front guys for sorting the show and of course the promoters Kami and Co. at 'Stay Metal Forever' who filled the place with several hundred crazy metalheads and gave us a truly memorable show! A few pictures and video from the show can be found below More...
Romania's forthcoming metal festival, Rock City Open Air, appears to have either cancelled or postponed. A message from black metal legends Mayhem reads as follows:
"Unfortunately, Mayhem will not perform in Romania next week as the whole festival has been canceled (or apparently postponed). We are deeply sorry for the fans who wanted to see us performing there. This is of course totally out of our control.
"A statement regarding the reason of the cancellation should be posted on the festival's MySpace page soon."
This news come after the recent news that Immortal, Blood Red Throne, Macbeth and Trail Of Tears have all pulled out of the event. The festival was scheduled to be held from August 20-23rd in Fetesti, Romania.
