Just For Fun
Another Christmas is just around the corner, which means jolly fat men in red suits scaring the bejeesus out of crying children and uncomfortable dinners with family members who don't actually like each other. Christmas isn't just caroling and spiked egg nog though, it's also another opportunity to rock out with some metal steeped in the holiday spirit. We already gave Christmas the metal treatment with a list of the top 10 most metal light shows, as well a new edition of the Rockstar Ramblings describing what aging rockers really want to get under the tree. Slipknot front man Corey Taylor also recently posted a Christmas music video here. To keep December heavy, we've also rounded up a list of the 2010 Christmas and Anti-Christmas rock and metal songs available online.
First off is the 2010 edition of the Misantrof AntiRecords "Holy Fucking AntiChristmas" compilation, which features 15 punk, instrumental, and metal tracks tearing the most commercial holiday of the year a new one. German heavy metallers U.D.O. have announced that its forthcoming studio album, titled "Rev-Raptor," has had its release date pushed back from the original January 14, 2011 date to March 18, 2011. The band released the following statement concerning the album's delay.
"The release of the new album, 'Rev-Raptor', which was initially planned for January 14, 2011 [via AFM Records] was unfortunately postponed to March 18, 2011! The reason therefor is the sadly reappearance of Stefan's strong back suffering which forced him to quit playing drums in ACCEPT back in the days. This setback hit Stefan in the middle of the recording session for the new album and forced everybody to make a longer pause now. Stefan is under medical treatment at a specialist and we all hope that he will recover soon. The show on November 6, 2010 in Augsburg where U.D.O. will be headliner in front of 9,000 expected fans at the Masters of Rock Antenne festival in the Schwabenhalle is not compromised."
Classis/power metal stalwart Udo Dirkschneider has seen many things is his three decade career. But most of it will pale to his most recent achievement - his eponymous band U.D.O. had 2007 full length "Mastercutor" released on glow in the dark vinyl!
There are only 400 copies, and all are hand-numbered and have a full color eight page booklet, and the price for this jewel is merely 20 Euros. More details can be found at Nightofthevinyldead.com.
U.D.O. is also out playing festivals this summer in support of this new release, as well as 2009's full length "Dominator." Their full touring schedule can be found at their MySpace Page.
