Hatchet Signs To The End, Readies New Album
Since releasing their debut album, “Awaiting Evil,” via Metal Blade in 2008, and completing 3 full DIY U.S. tours, Hatchet went through some lineup changes, which stalled overall progress of the group. Throughout the changes, founding member Julz Ramos always had the passion to keep the band going, even moving to take on vocal duties. Now the band has settled down with a new lineup and readying its sophomore effort, “Dawn of the End,” which will be released on their new label, The End Records, in March of 2013.
Julz commented on the signing to The End Records:
Hatchet is beyond thrilled to announce our signing to The End Records. They have a vast array of genres and styles within the label and it will be very interesting and exciting to see how Hatchet can expand its sonic force within the label. We have been shopping our new full length album to various key labels, however The End's straight forward interest, excitement and approach to the band was a refreshing one for us to see. Further talks have only strengthened this feeling and we are happy to see the label already has some ideas and avenues they are thinking about to help push us in the right direction. Album details and release dates to shortly follow.
Warbringer To Headline Charity Concert
California thrash metal act Warbringer has been announced as the headline act at this year's "Thrashgiving" charity event. The benefit concert to feed the needy is set to take place on Saturday, November 20 at Cheyenne Saloon in Las Vegas, Nevada. Support on the bill will come from Hatchet, Hexen, Vektor, Malus Rex and Control the Chaos.
Event organizers commented by saying:
"Two years ago we debuted the concept of Thrashgiving bringing together out-of-state and local artists performing thrash metal music for the benefit of the needy and we're doing it again. Even bigger and better this year in an attempt to make this an event held annually in Las Vegas. All proceeds from the show will go to the Rescue Mission and Boys Town. So attend a good show and know that your charitable ticket price will be donated to these organizations to help the less fortunate have a nice holiday.
Hatchet Parts Ways With Vocalist
American thrash metal outfit Hatchet has announced that they have parted ways with their vocalist, who is known only as Eric, after only a few months with the band. A message from Hatchet reads as follows:
"We are safe and sound now back home in the San Francisco Bay area. After a six week full US tour that spanned the entire country, we returned home to an eager, vigourous crowd on October 16th at 924 Gilman with tour mates Havok, as well as Witchaven and Warbringer. Definitely one of the most energetic shows of the tour and in the bay that we have played, and it was a nice welcome home. We met a lot of cool and interesting people along the way as well as fans that have been waiting patiently to see us in parts of the country we had not been to. We want to extend a big thank you to all who came to see us, bought merch, or take us in for the night and gave us a place to party and sleep. You all know who you are!!
"As most have noticed by now Hatchet returned to the Bay Area a four-piece. The exact details of the events leading to this will remain brief, as we do not believe in airing dirty laundry on a public board. Basically, we had vast musical and personal differences with our new vocalist from the start, and from the first show we played, it just did not click right. These problems only escalated throughout the tour until one night in Buffalo NY, where he decided to hit the stage beyond reasonably drunk, and embarrassed us beyond belief to a packed house, leaving five people in the club to watch Havok after our set. Afterwards he quit and flew home that same night, leaving us across the country without a vocalist. More...

Hatchet Sign With Metal Blade Records
Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of Bay Area thrashers HATCHET.
According to a press release, HATCHET is "an onslaught of five thrash metal fanatics from the San Francisco Bay Area; a starting point for infamous thrash bands like METALLICA, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, and VIO-LENCE, just to name a few. Formed by Julz on guitar and Slave behind the drum kit in January 2005, HATCHET was started as the two were fed up with the stale metal scene in their home town. Their desire to create music filled with substance and driving aggression would be enough to help revive a genre that had slowly began to fade away over the years in their hometown." More...
