Salt The Wound Issues Statement On Break Up
Following their recent announcement of their final U.S. show, European tour, and imminent break up next year, Salt The Wound has issued the promised official statement on the matter:
"Hey everyone, last week we announced our very last tour and very last show in the United States and now that things are starting to come together we would like to let you guys in on what has been going on. Salt the Wound has been around since 2001 and has seen numerous members come and go, gone through numerous changes in style and direction cumulating with our signing to Rotten Records. We have played over 1,000 shows as a band in this time, seen not only our country but Mexico, Europe, and the UK and met some of the greatest people we have ever met all around the world. But with time we all have grown in different directions and while all wishing to pursue music just are not able to dedicate the necessary time to this band to keep it going and balance careers, families, school, and other interests. There was no event that triggered our calling an ends, no blow ups, just the right time. We booked our very last show for January 9, 2010 @ Peabody's Downunder in Cleveland, OH with our very good friends The Analyst, Above this Fire, Cholera, Dead Even, and The Screwtape letters. This will be a very special show for us as we will be playing material off of all our released albums and will be joined by our current vocalist Mat Wessoly and founding member Kevin Schaefer. We had months and months before in May booked our European tour with War From a Harlots Mouth which was just announced and we will indeed be doing this final tour. So for anyone from abroad overseas in Europe and the UK please come on out and hang for one last time.
"Currently we are selling a little bit of Salt the Wound history, there are 71 shirts spanning the past 5 years of touring, all never worn, super limited runs, limited edition, personal favorites and more that will be available on Ebay since we are not able to add single items to our online store. There are a few online now and the rest will be added all week so be sure to search "Salt the Wound" on ebay, we will also be selling a very special package for our new album "Ares" which will have an ares CD, poster, and one of our decapitated roman soldier stage banners from our last tour with Knights of the Abyss this past September.
"From now on you can find Jake at Black Metal Tattoo Co. in Strongsville, OH. Mat will be pursuing schooling and other interests. Rob, Vince, and Brooklyn are all pursuing other paths but we are not giving up music, I am sure you will be seeing us all popping up here and there involved with new projects.
"We have so many people to thank for all the support over the years starting with our families, every band we have ever played with, and far too many people to list who have helped us book shows, let us sleep at their homes, supported us buying merchandise and cds etc. Thank you everyone for the great experience."

Despised Icon Launches Weekly Studio Video Blog
Montreal extreme metallers, DESPISED ICON, have started work on their new album, due later this year via Century Media Records.
Vocalist Alex Erian comments, "We're done writing and the new shit is packed with brutality. Can't wait to play these songs live! As always, our longtime buddy Yannick St-Amand will produce the whole thing and we got Zeuss and Alan Douches to take care of the mixing and mastering, so the result should sound monstrous! Our boy Felix Rancourt, the evil mastermind behind all our imagery, promised us his sickest album artwork to date." More...

Woe of Tyrants Debuts New Music Video
Ohio's Woe of Tyrants are currently debuting their video for "Break the Fangs of the Wicked" at this location. The video was directed by Jake Beemer with Siege Media and filmed at the Majestic Theatre in Chillicothe, OH.
Vocalist Chris Catanzaro explains the video and its concept, "We were very honored to have the opportunity to work with Jake and the crew of Siege Media on our first video for the new record, 'Kingdom of Might.' The song is entitled 'Break the Fangs of the Wicked,' and despite being one of our most popular live songs, Fangs was chosen due to the fact that it successfully culminates the diversity and overall theme of the entire record. The video was shot in our hometown of Chillicothe, OH at the legendary Majestic Theater. We were fortunate enough to have some close, and very talented, friends come out to serve as the performers in the video. The storyline follows the song in that the song is about rising above negativity and evil and going back to square one in our love for our fellow person. We felt this was an important message to convey amidst a genre that speaks death almost constantly, and thanks to the professionalism of the crew we are very confident that it is going to turn out even better than we initially expected!"
