Obituary Vocalist Checks In
Obituary vocalist John Tardy has posted the following road report online:
"This year's Wacken festival in Germany was unbelievable. We really had a good time and appreciate all the fans support. I think the Wacken crew all did a great job and we thank them for inviting us to this year's event! It was a sold out weekend, somewhere around 80,000 people!!!!
"We played in Finland the night before and it was one of those...off stage at 2:00AM, lobby call at 4:00AM, flights at 6:00AM and on stage at Wacken 4:00PM...and they lost our luggage so Frank [Watkins; bass] and I had to go on stage in the only clothes we had...awesome! At least all the equipment showed up or we really would have been fucked! The show in Finland was great, sold out and sick! Thanks to all of you that came out to see us!
"We now have a few days off that we are spending in Hamburg, Germany before we take off to Copenhagen, Denmark for the next show. At least we don't have to fly. Actually we are done flying until we head back home. Only two shows left so I hope you can make one of them and remember we will have the new 'Left To Die' EP with us!"

DESTRUCTION and TESTAMENT, who are both good friends, were also playing so it was good to see and hang out with them. Obituary Posts New Video For "Evil Ways" Online

Vocalist John Tardy says about the video: "We wanted a video that fit what the band is really like and in a location where you might find us having a cool one on any given day, I think the locals and regulars probably thought we were out of our minds, but Dan, the owner, was so cool it didn't seem to faze him. He actually let us in and left us alone in the bar by ourselves to film." More...
Obituary Plays Benefit Show In Equador
OBITUARY frontman John Tardy has issued the following update:
"14 flights, 11 countries and 8 shows in 12 days!!! What a run that was.
4 great shows in Brasil, packed house in Chile and almost 2,000 fans in a bullfighting ring in Venezuela! Everything was going great when we got word that the final show in Ecuador was canceled.
The club we were scheduled to play caught fire and tragically killed 17 people inside, one week before we were to play there. When you play places like this all the time and then hear about things like this it really makes you think!
We were then asked to play a benefit concert where the proceeds would go to the families of the victims. When we said we would do it I don't think we new what we were in for.
First, there was almost 20,000 fans that showed up and we were the headlining band. Then, when they started to bring in survivors, friends and family members of the deceased into our backstage, it got real sad very fast.
This was an entire community that came together and to be part of it was something I will never forget."
Obituary Vocalist Checks In From South America
OBITUARY vocalist John Tardy has issued the following road update from South America:
"Just when I say Santiago could have been the best show of the tour, our fans in Venezuela really show up for us and it was just an amazing show. This was our first time to Venezuela and I have no idea why we waited so long to get there. What a show. We actually played inside a bull-fighting ring. Sick! The fans were absolutely crazy!
Once again no sleep last night. We left the show around 1:00 am and had a 3 hour drive back to the airport. Our flights to Bogata left at 6:00 am but, we made it here and are ready for a good show tonight. We have never been to Columbia either, so I am really looking forward to tonight's show. Bogata, we will see you tonight!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Tomorrow is our last show and it is in Ecuador. You may have read in the news about a club there that caught on fire and killed at least 14 people. We never like hearing anything like that and our thoughts are with those families. Because of this our show has been moved, but we are still playing. Check the tour schedule!!!"

A rare OBITUARY track, entitled "Executioner Returns", has been posted on the group's MySpace page. The song originally appeared on the limited-edition digipack version of the Florida-based death metal band's latest CD, "Xecutioner's Return", which came out last year.
"Xecutioner's Return" was mixed at Redroom Recorders and was mastered in June at Morrisound Studios in Tampa. The band once again worked with artist Andreas Marschall, who has previously created the art for "The End Complete" and the group's last record, "Frozen in Time".
Roadrunner Records recently released a "best-of" collection from OBITUARY, entitled, appropriately enough, "The Best of Obituary".
