Shadowside Comments On Video Shoot

Vocalist Dani Nolden of Brazilian metallers Shadowside has issued the following statement about recording a music video:

"Hello my fellow rockers and metalheads! It's been a while since I last posted so I figured I'd write a detailed report with pictures telling you all about the video shoot yesterday! I'm sorry, I have no pictures yet though *laughs*. They're coming soon! However I can tell you how it all went!

"We started early at about 10 am (yeah that's freaking early for me! ) so while the crew was setting up the set we took the time to get ourselves "metalized" and took a few new band pictures! We had a lot of fun coming up with weird ideas and exploring the place... it was a very old, very dusty building, with lots of empty rooms that haven't been used in ages but still have some very interesting decoration for a Rock band! One of the rooms even had a very disgusting brown thing dripping from the ceiling... that would have been perfect for a very extreme Splatter Metal band. We didn't use that room though but we still kept things very raw and very Metal as you will be able to check it out by yourselves! More...

Shadowside Issues New U.S. Tour Report

Brazilian metallers Shadowside have issued the following tour report about their recent U.S. tour dates:

"September 18 - Indianapolis. Now this is a city that will always be in my heart. Don't kill me, I love all the cities I visit! But Indy represents the start for SHADOWSIDE in the U.S. It's the first place we ever played in North America. That was in September 2007, when we played Indianapolis Metal Fest. From that day on, we became supporters of the festival, no matter what happens, just like we became supporters of Flight of the Valkyries festival. Rob Mason from IMF and Nathan Block together with Bobbie Jeans from FoTV are people who helped us back then (and still do).
At first, we were scheduled to play in Kokomo, IN but it changed to Indianapolis and we had a chance to share the stage with Betrayed with a Kiss, Rob's band. They are VERY cool so make sure you check them out!

"It was a shame that we didn't get to hang out around Indianapolis as we got there quite late and had to head straight to the venue. Hopefully next time. However we sure felt welcome once again as our fans and friends from Indiana have been nothing but great from day one! We had lots of sound problems and it's very easy to lose focus when you can't hear yourself or even worse, when you know the sound isn't what it should be for people. Lucky for us, they were all extremely supportive and rocked the place with us so we could say "fuck it" and get on with the Metal madness! We had an awesome time with everyone and they sure made it clear to us that they were having FUN! More...

Shadowside Issues New Tour Report

Brazil's Shadowside has issued the following tour report:

"September 17 - Urbana, IL Knowing what to expect sometimes takes away from that excitement of the ‘surprise effect’. However since we had such a great time in our first show in Urbana, we knew we had a lot to look forward to that day! Also, who said we didn't have a few surprises waiting for us right upon our arrival...?

"As we walked into the venue - pretty unique stage, by the way...with mirrors on the back! Perfect for all the naughty boys and girls out there who like to check us out from every possible angle...let us know if you all appreciated the ‘show’ *laughs* - we found out the venue had no sound equipment whatsoever, which we found extremely strange since they would have informed the promoter of that fact in advance. With that information in hand and aware that a good number of people were going to show up even though this concert was booked at such a short notice, we kinda hit the panic button and decided we would go acoustic that night just so we wouldn't have to tell people we wouldn't be able to play. That afternoon we performed an acoustic set at Hot Topic in Champaign, IL and told people there would be a show that night, no matter what! You can unplug us, but you can't stop us from making noise *laughs*. That was surprise number 1. An unpleasant one, still we faced it as a challenge and took it from there.

"Surprise number 2... As we went back into the venue later in the evening, we find the techs and assistants finish putting together a SWEET PA system that was stored and the person that saw us earlier that day had no idea they had it there *laughs* So the show was safe after all and we could set up just fine before the venue opening. It was finally shaping up into what it was supposed to be! More...

Shadowside Issues Tour Recap

Brazil's Shadowside has issued the following recap of their recent U.S. tour:

"As I promised, here is the next chapter of the Wake Up Screaming U.S. 2009 tour! I will take you guys back to September 15... not too long ago, yet I am sure some of the memories from that night will last for a lifetime!

"We got to the venue at about 6 or 7pm. I already knew Chicago City Limits from our last visit to the Chicago area. In one of the off nights, Raphael and I went there to have a few drinks with some of our friends and check out an all girl cover band, it was a pretty fun night and I remember the sound being absolutely awesome there. However when we entered the venue this time I realized it was a lot bigger than the images I had in my mind. It looked even better and cooler as well, you will be able to check it out in the pictures!

"I was very excited and looking forward to this show and as the show time approached, I was glad to see my expectations met! It was a pleasure seeing familiar faces of old friends and loyal fans as well as getting to meet new ones! I wish I could meet and talk to EVERYONE that attends our shows though as I know everyone has an unique story to tell me. That night I was told by one of our fans that my lyrics were an inspiration to his life and that is extremely touching and also makes you realize how powerful music is. Ok ok, I know what you're thinking - 'get to the point, Dani, what about the show?' *laughs* To put it simply: it was EXCELLENT and it felt great to be back in Chicago! Even though it was a Tuesday night, no one sounded like they were worried about waking up for work the next morning and it was great to hear them screaming with me! Maybe that's how they would wake up on Wednesday... *laughs* We went through our set intensely for about 1:30 hour and had a great time on stage! There's no better food for the band's fire than our fans voices, you all rock! More...

Shadowside Cancels Iowa Tour Date

Brazil's Shadowside has issued the following announcement about canceling their tour date tonight, September 16th, in Iowa:

"Hello my babies in the dark!

"This isn't the blog I wanted to write, FOR SURE. We played a kick ass show last night in Illinois and were SUPPOSED to go to Ottumwa Iowa. Well that IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

"We've hit some bumps on this tour and it was handled as best as could be...we've had clubs that we were contracted to play, but the venues either CLOSED, LOST THEIR LIQUOR LICENSE, WERE DICKS, ETC...

"Tonight's show in OTTUMWA, IOWA was added to the list of CLOSINGS. Our manager was informed last night at about 10 PM that PLUM CRAZY was CLOSED and were NOT going to honor our contract. We JUST got off stage and got the call, what a fucking downer. This show in Ottumwa was looking like it was going to be huge! We had no less that 100 of our FRIENDS here tell us they would be there via our MySpace messages...now we WILL make it up to you all next year..BELIEVE THAT! More...

Shadowside Issues Tour Road Report

Brazil's Shadowside has issued the following road report:

"Alright, my Babies in the Dark... hope you are all doing well tonight!

"After the past two shows in Illinois, we couldn't be more excited about this tour and both appearances tomorrow! First of all, let me walk you through our experiences in the past few days. They were very entertaining, fun and for me, challenging as well, since I had to sing both shows with a sore throat. I never even CONSIDERED cancelling any of the shows because I know how damn frustrating it is when a band I'm looking forward to see has to cancel and we had people messaging us saying they were as thrilled as we were to be coming to those cities that we've never been before. Since my voice wasn't sounding any different, I just went for it and I'm glad I did! More...

Shadowside Issues New Road Report

Brazil's Shadowside has issued the following road report:

"Hello again my ‘Babies In The Dark’! FANTASTIC shows this weekend at Shakers in Cambridge, OH and The Lighthouse in Imperial, PA. Hopefully those shows are a sign of the ones to come!

"To put it simply - both gigs ROCKED. The moshing that occurred at the Lighthouse is very invigorating from my perspective. When we started out, we didn't think our music would be ‘mosh worthy’ yet the past several shows some serious slammin’ has taken place. The whole floor was bouncing and crashing as we drove through the set. It is so amazing when the fans sing the tunes with us, I still can’t believe the reactions we’ve received here in the States. From the time we hit with ‘Nation Hollow Mind’ to the final chord from Rapha’s guitar the fans have been seriously energized! Our manager informed us that we will be back in Pittsburgh at The Hard Rock Café on Sunday Sept. 20th. I'm looking forward to seeing all you guys and girls there!

"Thanks to ALL of you rockin’ metalheads that came out and jammed. More to come soon, including pics, videos and a LOT more details from both shows and the ones to come... stay tuned!"

Shadowside Comments On Tour Date Cancellation

Brazilian metallers Shadowside has issued the following announcement about canceling their show in Huntington:

"Well... some REAL suck news tonight. We took off for our acoustic show at Hot Topic in Charleston, WV at 10:00 AM. After a brunch stop we got to the gig at the mall at around 3:30. We put in a nice set and found out very little promotion (if any at all) was done for the show at Tequila Rocks in Huntington, WV, since there were fans that didn’t even know we would be playing in town yesterday. They asked about the show and we told them it would be going off around 10. We knew we had a couple fans coming in from Michigan and Cincinnati and we had a lot of people email us saying they would be at Tequila Rocks. More...

Shadowside Issues Road Report

Brazilian metallers Shadowside have issued the following road report from their U.S. tour:

"Hello my Babys (sic) in the Dark!!! We are here in the States and have been having some fun before the real fun begins! We have been staying in the Pittsburgh headquarters that we’ve since named ‘Dream Central.’ We have been practicing with our newest touring bassist, Nick IX. We’ve partied with a lot of our friends from The Lighthouse last week. We went up for a little PRE-tour party and met about 80 good friends, drank some beers, and sang some karaoke! Good times.

"On Saturday August 29th we made our first live appearance on this tour. We closed out SlackFest 2009 in Smithfield, PA. Smithfield is a wonderful rural town that definitely enjoys its METAL! More...

Shadowside Replaces Bass Player

Brazil's Shadowside has issued the following update about replacing their bassist and upcoming tour dates:

"So THIS is what the sun looks like during the day!! Hello, my babies in the dark! It is about 9:00am and I am putting the finishing touches on packing for the fun that waits in the States! We are all very excited about this first leg of the tour!

"Of course this tour hasn’t been without its bumps along the way. That’s what happens sometimes with venues, promoters, etc. They put a hold on a date, they send in their offers and contracts only to bail on them late in the game. Unfortunately it has happened on several shows thus far. Of course our manager, Sweet Lou. dove in and replaced most of the dates. One that concerns us is our ....Michigan.... date at TNT’S. It looks as if this show is going to be cancelled. We’ve already done some press for that show, but it seems our agent hasn’t been able to get an answer of whether or not the venue or promoter is going to stand behind his contract. Frankly, it is probably better that it happened BEFORE we showed up at the venue. *laughs* So is ANY OF YOU know of a venue CLOSE to the show in ....Michigan...., PLEASE contact 'Sweet Lou.' at GlamSLAMinc@aol.com , perhaps he can get another date RE-scheduled somewhere in the area…

"Now some other EXCITING news! Unfortunately things always change within a band and we are no different. Edu our bass player is no longer with us. On this leg of the tour we are proud to welcome NICK IX! You can check out Nicky at this location. Nick is a rhythm guitarist by trade (endorsed by Jackson Guitars), but when we needed a bass player, Nick didn’t even think twice…he offered and we gladly accepted. Nick is true metal in the purest sense of the word! At this time, Nick is a 'touring member' of SHADOWSIDE…we want to hear from YOU the fans when we’re out there what you think of the line up! Also, Nick will most likely be playing acoustic rhythm guitar with Rapha at our Hot Topic appearances…you didn’t FORGET about coming out to see us at the Mall have you???? More...

Shadowside Vocalist Performs With Benedictum

Shadowside lead singer Dani Nolden performed with Veronica Freeman and Benedictum one of the highlights of the Flight of the Valkyries Metal Fest, the only festival in US featuring only female fronted rock / metal bands. Dani shared the stage with them on the Dio classic Rainbow in the Dark last Saturday (June 28) in Saint Paul, Minnesota (USA).

"It was certainly one of the highlights of the weekend! I came up with the idea after listening to the Shadowside CD one day. I knew that Benedictum had done several covers of Dio songs previously (two on their first album - 'Heaven & Hell' and 'The Mob Rules') and just thought it would be a unique experience, not to mention a lot of fun for the fans and the bands. Thankfully, even with the limited time to work on this idea, Dani, Veronica and the guys from Benedictum were able to pull this off incredibly well and I thank them endlessly for that! - said Bobbie Dickerson, festival organizer."

This isn't the first time Dani has done a special appearance. One of the most important ones was with Andre Matos and Shaman for the Judas Priest hit Painkiller.

Shadowside co-headlined Flight of the Valkyries Festival together with Unexpect from Canada.

A video of Dani with Benedictum is available at DailyMotion.com and below.

As of right now, Shadowside is in the middle of the second leg of Devastating the Theatre 2007/2008 Tour. On July 6 the band hit Fort Worth, Texas and then appear at Rocklahoma. More...
