Los Angeles retro thrash metal band WARBRINGER just completed a massive European tour and has now set their sights back on North America as they prepare to embark on a cross-country tour with Overkill alongside Vader, God Dethroned, Evile and Woe of Tyrants.
John Laux (guitars) further states: "Just finishing up our latest European tour, which was definitely a 'whirlwind'. We've spent the past two months all over Europe, doing five weeks of shows with Evile and then three weeks of headlining dates, mainly focusing on Eastern Europe. The conditions were rough as we did our own dates crammed into a van with seven people and all of our gear. Also, the weather just seemed to get colder and colder. Fortunately no one got too sick and all the fans who came out each night made every gig worthwhile. It was cool to venture into countries like Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Hungary. We were happy to try a lot of the local food, wine and beer. We’ll have a lot of great memories from this run.
"The Overkill tour is going to be a blast. We have already toured with Overkill, Vader and Evile separately before so we're looking forward to touring with old friends, as well as making new ones with the guys in God Dethroned and Woe of Tyrants. This is a totally killer line-up and it will be a great show for the fans.
"We've got a lot on tap for the rest of the year with our first dates in Japan taking place in May, as well as Southeast Asia dates being lined up in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Taiwan. We will have one more tour in the States supporting Pestilence in June and another tour of Europe later this summer. We hope to see you all soon."
Reactivated death metallers Pestilence will be heading off on their first U.S. tour in 16 years. The 17 date trek will kick off in Baltimore as part of the Maryland Deathfest at Sonar on May 30th and close at the Gramercy Theater in New York City on June 17th. On the 31 Dec 1999, no planes came crashing out of the sky, nuclear bombs went off or microwave ovens tried to eat anyone. However, times were about to change and in the metal scene change was already well underway. Let us take a stroll through the decade in metal that was.
Many of the 90s big names like Emperor and Pantera prepared to give their last venomous scream dying off in the wake of ever diminishing interest in the metal scene that had plagued the 90s. In the year 2000 a band named “Limp Bizkit” came out with an album called "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water" and in a storm nu-metal took over the public perception of heavy music, changing the face of metal irreparably. Although nu-metal had already been pioneered by Korn, bands like Deftones, Disturbed, Mudvayne and Linkin Park all had breakout releases in 2000. More...
New Jersey thrash metal veterans Overkill will embark on their 25th anniversary North American tour, dubbed Killfest 2010, in April and May 2010. The trek will span the length of the U.S., hitting spots in Canada, with one final show at New York City's Nokia Theater. Support on the tour will come from Vader, God Dethroned, Warbringer, Evile, and Woe of Tyrants.
Commented vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth: "The road never ends, and that's a good thing kids! We've all been tearing this up for over 25 years now and still going strong. April it starts again and this time it's 'Ironbound', live and in your face, let the games begin!!"

British thrashers EVILE are currently tearing their way around Europe on a headlining European tour. The "Infecting Nations" tour has seen EVILE perform a string of shows up and down the UK, with the band now in mainland Europe. Joining EVILE on the tour are American thrashers WARBRINGER and Israel's THE FADING. This is also EVILE's first tour with their new bassist, JOEL GRAHAM, who joined the band following the tragic death of their original bassist, MIKE ALEXANDER.
EVILE lead guitarist OL DRAKE reports from the road, "The tour is going great. We're getting along brilliantly with Warbringer and The Fading and it's just a general good feeling all around. I'm glad we're out with really friendly people, as I was dubious about going out so soon after our recent tragedy, but it's going good. Myself and Kevill have been playing Street Fighter 2 non-stop. I'm always Ryu, he's always Blanka. It is an epic battle. More...

British thrashers, EVILE have recently announced that they will be embarking on their first major North American tours with such legendary acts as KREATOR and OVERKILL. EVILE frontman/guitarist, Matt Drake recently took some time to proclaim his (and the band's) excitement to hit the road across the pond in March through early-May:
"Well it's about time it happened, we can finally say that we are coming to the USA!! It's been a long time coming because we've tried before, we've had a few plans made in the past to get to the states but they always fell through but it's finally confirmed and happening. We couldn't be happier that we get to lay waste to peoples senses on a nightly basis with such legendary bands that we have nothing but respect for, we're looking forward to meeting people who have listened to our cd's but never had the chance to see us live and we're also looking forward to introducing ourselves to a lot of new people and instead of easing ourselves into it by doing a week or so we're going for a full on two month straight tour with only a few days off, the way it should be!! I'm personally looking forward to being able to visit such iconic places as New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco as these are the kind of places i never thought i would be lucky enough to see. Ladies and gentlemen the British are coming!!!!" More...
Guitarist John Laux, of the Los Angeles thrash metal band Warbringer, has issued the following tour recap:
"We’re finally home for the Holidays after what may of been one of the most wild tours yet!'
"To kick things off we headed east, playing headline shows along the way, at the end of October to meet up with Vader’s Monsters of Death tour and ended up making very good friends with everyone on the tour. Vader, Augury, The Amenta, Swashbuckle and Decrepit Birth are all killer bands! The shows from ..Baltimore.. to ....New York.... were a breeze, and then we had some border trouble as many of our Canadian fans already know. An old DUI showed up for our drummer, so Nic was flagged and prevented from entering the country and had to stay behind. The same happened when we tried to enter ..Canada.. again after the ....Minnesota.... show. Regardless we played all the gigs with Adam, our guitar player, and Vader stage manger Dave Lozano switching off on the drum throne. It was pretty rough at first but after a few days Adam and Dave were killing it. Nic wound up staying with John Gensmer from Epicurean and flying out to ....Seattle.... to rejoin the tour a week later." More...

John Kevill (vocals) states: “After the Monsters of Death tour (with Vader, Decrepit Birth, The Amenta, Augury and Swashbuckle) we get to go off and do some shows with fucking Megadeth! For us as a band this is pretty huge, it will be excellent to share the stage with such a legendary band. Also we are playing around the mid-north of the country in some places we've never been. Then after that we are going to Hawaii for some shows, so the rest of the year is looking completely badass. Returning from a 5-week European tour earlier this month, the guys in WARBRINGER are enjoying their first break in schedule in quite some time due to a relentless touring and recording schedule that has seen the band release two albums and criss-cross the US, Canada and Europe 9 times in 18 months.
With three weeks of respite, the band has decided to replace bassist Ben Bennett with original bass player Andy Laux. Andy recorded the group’s debut, "War Without End," but was unable to join his band mates for any of the touring due to him still being in high school. Now with his studies complete, Andy has been focusing on sound engineering and even built his own home garage studio but will rejoin the guys for future touring and recording.
Andy had this to say, "After parting ways with WARBRINGER a year-and-a-half ago I never would have seen this coming but circumstances have left the band in need of someone to handle bass duties. When I was asked to fill the position how could I refuse? The members of WARBRINGER are my good friends and (literally) my family so the choice was obvious, I look forward to catching up with the fans, seeing some familiar faces, but most of all thrashing every venue this side of the solar system!"
Guitarist, and older brother, John Laux added, “I’m happy to have my brother back in the band and to share some of the experiences I’ve been able to witness firsthand. The band has decided to part with bassist Ben Bennett due to a few serious personal and offstage issues we’ve encountered on the road. We thank him for all his contributions to the band, the album and the touring and we all wish him the best of luck with any future endeavors.”
WARBRINGER will be playing a couple shows in Mexico August 28 and 29, before embarking on the Obituary, Goatwhore, Krisiun, The Berzerker tour starting September 3rd.
Goatwhore has finished filming a video for the first single from "Carving Out The Eyes Of God," "Apocalyptic Havoc," which was recently filmed by acclaimed video director, Dave Brodsky (The Red Chord, Unearth, The Black Dahlia Murder). You can check out the video below. More...

British thrash metal legends recently completed a short tour in the United Kingdom as special guests to veteran Bay Area thrash outfit Testament. A message from the band reads as follows:
"Just got back fromt the Testament UK tour... fuckin Killer!!!
"We had a blast and the shows we're totally fuckin awesome for us, if this tour proved one thing, it was that thrash metal is well and truly back at the forefront of the UK metal scene once more. Great line up/sold out shows with real old school attitudes, the future is bright!
"It was real cool to be out with all The Testament guys once more and a pleasure to have on board new upcoming American thrashers WARBRINGER.. check em out :) This was one of the most enjoyable tours we have ever been involved in, no egos & attitudes, just one big machine that ran like clockwork... very rare in this business!
Testament are currently on tour in the United Kingdom promoting their latest studio album, "The Formation Of Damnation" which was released last year to much critical acclaim. They made the wise choice to bring British thrash metal legends Onslaught along for the trek as well as young American thrashers Warbringer. Needless to say, no-one left disappointed.
I unfortunately arrived too late to see most of Warbringer's set but I saw the last song and they seemed like a good band. I'll make a point of seeing them in the future. It was a special show for Onslaught as the concert was being held in their home city of Bristol and the venue, (the Bristol Academy) was the only venue in the city the band hadn't played yet. The band opened their set with a thunderous response from the crowd as they ripped into the title track from their 2007 masterpiece, "Killing Peace." They continued on with a set that mainly consisted of songs from "Killing Peace" and their 1986 classic, "The Force" including staple songs, "Let There Be Death" and "Metal Forces" before finishing with "Power From Hell," the title track of their debut album. Onslaught showed ferocious energy from start to finish and seemed like they were having just as much fun as the whole crowd were. The only thing that seemed to let their set down was that alot of people complained about the sound, claiming the drums were louder than the vocals and guitars. It sounded fine to me though. After their set members from the band were hanging around talking to the fans at the merchandise stand, which is always nice!
Testament have been on a roll since releasing "The Formation of Damnation" and they're showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. They opened their set with "The Preacher" and continued to give unleash a high energy, sonic assault from there. Chuck Billy cemented his repuatation as one of the best frontmen in Thrash Metal by connecting well with the audience and keeping his voice as intense as ever before, and with the guitar team of Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson behind him, in addition to the awesome rhythm section that is Greg Christian on bass and veteran thrash drummer Paul Bostaph, you can't go wrong. They performed the majority of their classic songs including, "Into The Pit," "Over The Wall" and "Disciples Of The Watch" as well as newer songs such as "More Than Meets The Eye" and "The Persecuted Won't Forget." A personal favourite moment of mine was when they began their encore with the excellent, "D.N.R." from the 1999 album, "The Gathering" before ending the show with the unusual choice of "The Formation Of Damnation." They left the stage to a great show of respect from the crowd after promising to return to Britain next year with a brand new album to support.
Sydney Australia-based extreme metal act THE AMENTA will join VADER, DECREPIT BIRTH, WARBRINGER, AUGURY, S.W.W.A.A.T.S. on “Monsters Of Death Tour” presented by Decibel Magazine. Keyboardist/sampler, Tim Pope, comments on the tour, “THE AMENTA is very honored to be sharing a stage with VADER in North America on the "Decibel Presents: Monsters Of Death Tour". Our first European tour - Winterfest 2009 - was with Vader earlier this year and we know that we’re going to have a great time both offstage and on with those guys. It’s a very strong bill and we can’t wait to see the other bands in action. We’ve heard so much about touring North America and can’t wait to get over there to blow people away. We are on the top of our game at the moment and the States will finally get to see what we are capable of. Thanks to everyone involved for giving us a chance. It’s a great honor to have such a strong tour for our first time on your shores. To the fans in the States: Get ready. You haven’t seen anything like us.” More...
