Iced Earth & Symphony X Burn Hartford To Cinders

Even though I reside in the “drive through” state of Connecticut, I still find it odd that one of the most anticipated tours of the year would begin in a location that most bands/tours avoid. It has more to do with fans in the state. Real fans of metal usually head over to neighboring New York or Massachusetts for any quality metal and any other fans tend to stay at home on Tuesday rather than get out and witness a major tour that is literally within 20-40 minutes away. It is the sorry state of affairs that most real metal fans in Connecticut deal with. But here, a rare opportunity descended upon us and it was a night that the half-filled hall would not soon forget.

The bands arrived in town early, but for some reason the sound checking process started right about the time that doors should have opened. Iced Earth could easily be heard in a practice run of Dystopia while the crowd gathered and waited. The delay caused doors to open at approximately 6:45pm and by the time half the crowd had be properly frisked, entered and started to check out the merchandise table…Warbringer started its set. Warbringer Splits With Guitarist

As Warbringer begins a North American tour supporting Iced Earth and Symphony X this week, it has been revealed that longtime guitarist Adam Carroll has decided to leave the band and last weekend's shows supporting Death Angel were his last.

"To all fans and friends, I, Adam Carroll, have officially quit WARBRINGER. I have financial issues at home that have to be addressed sooner than later. I hope you all can understand and respect my decision. It's been some of the best years of my life and I appreciate all the support you the fans have given us and continue to give. I will forever be part of the WARBRINGER family. Many thanks and until I see the rest of you again, keep the metal alive. Cheers!"

The band enlisted friend Andrew Bennett for the purpose of filling in live for this tour with the hope that he may become a permanent member of the group as he continues his audition process where it matters most-- on the stage and in the van.

Comments Andrew Bennett, "Last month I received a message from the guys, which basically stated that Adam was requesting to step out. As a result, they were searching for a possible replacement who could learn the material in time for the upcoming ICED EARTH and SYMPHONY X tour. I jumped at the opportunity and started learning some tracks. Around the beginning of this month I went down and jammed with the guys and the rest is history. I am eternally grateful to my friends in WARBRINGER for giving me the opportunity to play with them and I am very excited about what the future may hold. But, one thing that I would like to make clear is that I don't view myself as Adam's replacement, as much as I view myself as filling the position instead of him. Adam's work with the band and time with them is not something that can be erased and I would just like to make it clear that I respect him greatly. He has left big shoes to fill and I have a lot of work ahead of me if I am going to honor his legacy with the band. I'm looking forward to interacting with, and playing for the fans on the road! It's time to shred!"

Iced Earth And Symphony X To Tour North America

American power metal veterans Iced Earth will be teaming up with progressive metal outfit Symphony X for a thirty plus date tour of North America in January it has been revealed. This will be in support of Iced Earth's brand new album, "Dystopia" and the latest Symphony X record, "Iconoclast," which was released last June. Support on the tour will come from thrash metal group, Warbringer.

"I'm excited to tour with Symphony X," Iced Earth founder Jon Schaffer said. "They're phenomenal musicians and very cool guys. This co-headliner tour will be a great experience for the fans. It is also way overdue for us to play a proper tour of North America. Get ready!"

Symphony X guitarist Michael Romeo echoes Schaffer’s enthusiasm.

"We are very excited about the upcoming North American Tour with Iced Earth," Romeo said. "We first met Jon & the guys a few years back and they were really cool. When the idea of a co-headline tour surfaced, we thought it would be awesome. The fans can expect a night of great music from both bands. We look forward to seeing you all real soon!"

Warbringer Posts New Tour Diary

Warbringer has posted a new tour diary online through Decibel Magazine. An excerpt from the blog follows:

"Hello out there. Kevill here again, coming to you from some bar in Manhattan where I have found a place to actually sit down and write. Finding a spot took some time, and I had to buy a fucking $7 beer (seriously, what the hell?), but now it is time to recap on the past week of the tour.

"So the show went off in Florida, where we proceeded to go to a hotel with our pals in Landmine Marathon (everyone on the tour is total bro-dude-pals by now, horrible gay jokes abound. That seems to be the truly consistent mark of tour-brotherhood, for some reason). This had been going on all afternoon as it was Adam’s birthday, but I missed the afternoon festivities to write the last one of these. We stayed up ‘til 5:30 or something drinking cheap beer, and Travis aka Richard, our merch guy, did some prank calls, which he is kind of legendary for. Usually just playing the typical Richard character, who’s a good ‘ol American trucker who calls the waitresses 'sweetheart' at Denny’s all across the South. But for the one in New York, he does his best/worst New Yorker accent and goes, 'Ey can I have a grand slam, ah?,' and the guy at Denny’s responds immediately 'Ey, FUCK YOU! Ah?' and hangs up the phone. Stereotypes time and time again prove themselves to be hilariously true.

"Next day is Atlanta, where we once again play the Masquerade. This venue is an old sawmill or something, and has the dubious honor of having some of the most consistently foul bathrooms of any venue I have ever played. I saw a full blown flood in one of them once…Definitely was not pretty. But the place itself is goddamn cool, there’s all this rusted old machinery lying around outside, and I spent some time examining it and trying to determine its purpose. No luck. It is a bit of a labyrinth in general, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some rooms in there no one has seen for years, with some forgotten skeletons in them or something. We are playing the stage called 'hell' this time. It was a rager.

"After the show, Lazarus AD, Diamond Plate, and us go and drive about 40 miles to the nearest truckstop we can find and park in a closed-off formation so that there is a wide space between the vehicles that no one else can see. We proceed to break out the 30 pack and start partying in a truckstop parking lot. Diamond Plate, being young lads, of course do not partake, and of course none of the rest of us force those poor young boys to drink the beer-horn. We are all civilized here. Hahaha, those dudes got wasted."

Warbringer Posts New Album Artwork And Track List

Warbringer is set to release "Worlds Torn Asunder" on September 27th, 2011. The album was produced and mixed by the Steve Evetts (Suicide Silence, Dillinger Escape Plan, Symphony X), and features artwork by the talented Dan Seagrave, who designed Warbringer's previous album cover. In regards to the upcoming release, Warbringer vocalist John Kevill has this to say about the artwork:

"The concept behind 'Worlds Torn Asunder' was the decline of our existing world at the hands of the human race. The artwork depicts the world literally being torn and we wanted to include the setting in the cosmos along with a darker 'higher' force lurking behind the shadows. We had worked with Dan Seagrave before on 'Waking Into Nightmares' and were very comfortable with the way he expressed himself. He's been the artist for many bands we love and are inspired by."

The album's first single, "Living Weapon," will be released in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, fans can check out Warbringer's official youtube page for a behind-the-scenes look at the making of "Worlds Torn Asunder!"

The track-list and artwork for "Worlds Torn Asunder" are below.

Warbringer Reveals New Album Details

American thrash metal outfit Warbringer has announced that the band is currently putting the finishing touches on a new studio album, which will be entitled, "Worlds Torn Asunder." Speaking on the new album, frontman John Kevill stated:

"With this record we were trying to do 2 things, to make something that progressed in new directions from our previous work, but also to keep all the speed and intensity at the forefront. I really think we've pulled that off with this record, we have a great and diverse batch of songs. Musically I think we have songs on this record that move forward from the styles of both our previous records, and some that go in completely new directions that the band has never done before. We are really excited to put this record out, we are really trying to raise the bar with this one."

The track listing is as follows:

Living Weapon
Shattered Like Glass
Wake Up... Destroy
Future Ages Gone
Treacherous Tongue
Echoes From The Void
Enemies of the State
Behind the Veils of Night (instrumental)

Bonded By Blood Introduces New Touring Lineup

Southern California thrashers Bonded By Blood have announced the friendly departure of Alex Lee (guitar) and Jerry Garcia (bass). Brandon Gullin (Avenger of Blood) and Ben Bennet (Warbringer) will fill in the vacated spots on the band's upcoming North American tour supporting Sepultura.

Carlos Regalado, Juan Juarez and Mauro Gonzalez, Bonded By Blood's remaining members, have released the following statement:

"Bonded By Blood has gone through so many changes in the last couple of years while playing amazing festivals, touring the entire United States, Europe and Canada dozens of times, and enjoying the time with new and old friends and fans all over the world who mean the most to us. We first lost our original bass player, Ruben Dominguez back in 2009, then singer Jose Barrales left the band in 2010, but each was replaced with new members and the group marched on. Now, we regret to announce that Alex Lee (guitar) and Jerry Garcia (bass) are also stepping away from BBB. We will miss them just as much as we miss Ruben and Jose, and this band will not be the same without them, but the three of us that are left in Bonded By Blood hope that everyone who enjoys this band can understand that changes are inevitable. As much as we want to keep an 'original line-up', things happen that you just can't control.

"We hope all our friends, fans and fellow musicians can still give us the warm welcome we always received and still support us in these hard times while we rebuild the band as we all need all the support we can get. Thankfully, some new friends stepped up and are working hard to help us do the Sepultura tour, so big thanks to Ben Bennet (from Smog and formerly Warbringer) and Brandon Gulling (of Malus Rex and the recently reformed Avenger of Blood), who will be filling in on bass and rhythm guitar respectively while we keep together what is left of Bonded By Blood. We hope to see you all on the road again; it's not going to be the same without our old friends up there with us... But shit happens."

Alex Lee comments on leaving Bonded By Blood:

"With Jose leaving the band followed by my own parting, I want to assure you all that it is not a coincidence, nor is it a fluke. Being a guitarist, I have always been interested in playing other styles of music and not only thrash. Don't get me wrong, I love my thrash music, but I honestly see myself being suited better with another band or type of music than what I have been doing with Bonded By Blood. It has been one of the hardest decisions of my life, due to the fact that this was the first band that I was in or established, but now I feel that it's my time to move on and to continue my progress on a new path. I wish Bonded the best of luck and I know they can succeed. As for the fans, I know they won't truly understand, they can either hate me or follow me, but I hope they will continue listening to and seeing Bonded live, for I believe that they will hold strong for years to come. You guys were the best and thanks for the great years!"

Jerry Garcia reflects on his time with Bonded By Blood and his exit:

"Being part of Bonded By Blood for almost two years now has been the best experience of my life. I've seen and done things that I could have only dreamed of. I had the honor of sharing the stage with some of the most talented musicians in the world, including the ones in my band. Everything I experienced will be something that I will cherish for a lifetime. However, as time goes by and life begins to unfold, certain things begin to become very evident and downright inevitable. Bonded By Blood is more than just a band, it's a spirit and it transcends any single individual person or band member.

"I want to thank each and every single one of you that ever supported me and the guys in doing what we do best in life, and that is music. There is no better feeling in the world than to bring happiness to someone through music. It is an incredibly humbling experience that I never took for granted. I am not sad, nor am I disappointed in my departure from the band. I see it as a fresh start to another chapter in my random life. As for me... Well, I'll be around - music is something that is essential to my life. I cherished the good, learned from the bad and realized that in life, 'the only constant is change'.

"One last thank you to everyone that showed me kindness on and off the road, so thanks to Juan, Carlos, Alex, Mauro, Marco, Talita and the rest of the Earache gang including Anthony, every band I toured with, and most of all the fans! See ya!"

Bonded By Blood recently finished a co-headlining European tour with Lazarus A.D. Go to this location to view Sepultura, Hate, Keep of Kelessin and Bonded By Blood tour dates.
