Warbringer Issues "Silhouettes" Video Clip

Warbringer is definitely one of the most aurally devastating bands in the scene today and make a triumphant step forward on the upcoming record, "Woe to the Vanquished." On March 31st they deliver their monumental 5th full-length via Napalm Records.

To shorten the wait time, the band has unleashed the first ripping track "Silhouettes" today via music video which was directed by Orie McGinness (Enlighten Creative Studio) and produced by Shan Dan Horen (Shadow Born Group). The video is shown exclusively via Decibel Magazine's website at this location, or in the player conveniently located below.

John Kevill gives a deeper insight into the first song "Silhouettes": "This song, the album opener, is a blazing and intense number; we wanted the album to open with pure annihilation. I had the lyric in my head and the frantic riff under the verse since the beginning of 2014, and I am very pleased that it exists as a full song now.

"The idea for the song came from a particularly chilling detail found at Hiroshima and Nagasaki; when the atomic bombs went off the shadows of people whose bodies were vaporized still remain burned onto the walls and the ground where they once stood. To me, this is goddamn horrifying. I thought - 'What if the souls of those dead remain trapped in the shadows?'

"I wanted to have the song written from a future where civilization has failed, the Earth is in ruins and the few remaining survivors live a horrible existence. The untold millions of shadows from this future, burnt into stone, look back at us in the present time and judge us for bringing about the apocalypse that, though we saw it coming, we did nothing to avoid.

"The way I see it, we continue funding weaponry that keeps getting more and more devastating (search 'satan-2' if you think this issue is some relic), and leadership seems on a sharp downward trend as well. Not the ingredients for a positive outcome. Remember, it only takes one mistake, once, and everything everyone has ever built, written, painted, all music, all culture, every ounce of human achievement is gone, in a single blinding flash. Like it or not, this is the world we live in today, and entering 2017 the delicate balance tips and sways more and more.
So, Happy New Year. Enjoy the time we have left, and fucking thrash. Woe to the Vanquished.
We're Ghosts!" More...

Warbringer Unveils New Album

On March 31st, Warbringer will deliver a monumental 5th record entitled "Woe to the Vanquished." Singer John Kevill describes the new album:

"For the music on this record we re-focused ourselves after a lot of the experiments on Empires Collapse, and decided we wanted to make a record that is start-to-finish more merciless, ruthless, and cruel, but also maintains some of the more melodic and progressive sense. What we ended up with is a record that has a lot of traits of classic thrash but also a lot of extreme metal, and a rather unique version of that blend. It's overall faster and meaner than anything else we've put out, but also has our biggest and most ambitious song, the 11-minute 'When the Guns Fell Silent' to close the record."

The album was produced and mixed by Mike Plottnikoff (Fear Factory, In Flames), mastered by Howie Weinberg (Slayer, Pantera) with cover art by the esteemed Andreas Marschall (Sodom, Blind Guardian, Obituary).

Kevill explains the stunning album artwork by saying: "It is directly based on a photograph from the end of the First World War--a grim monument, a pyramid of 12,000 German spiked helmets, right in the middle of New York City. What struck me about the image is firstly how morbid it seems to be celebrating 12,000 dead men and calling it victory." More...

Warbringer Signs With Napalm Records

Napalm Records is proud and honored to announce the signing of U.S. thrash band Warbringer. Started in 2004 by high school metal heads, the members of Los Angeles' own Warbringer have made their way up through the metal scene in the interveneing years.

After four releases and an endless succession of tours with the likes of Arch Enemy, Exodus, Suicide Silence, Megadeth, Napalm Death, Iced Earth, Kreator to name just a few, this hard working five-piece is ready to take the next step together with Napalm Records.

John Kevill, front man of Warbringer, comments on the signing: "We are excited to announce a new record deal with Napalm Records! We have been writing for the last couple months, the riffs are flowing and the new material is sounding goddamn lethal. We are planning to record at the end of summer and release it early next year, followed by a full worldwide touring campaign. The writing is being led by longtime members drummer Carlos Cruz and guitarist Adam Carroll, as well as myself, and we are being joined by Chase Becker on the lead guitar and Jessie Sanchez dropping the bass-hammer.

"I've been on a mission to make this record for three years since 'Empires...' was released, and it's great to see it finally coming to fruition. Thank you all the people at Napalm Records for their interest in the band, and thank you to the fans for your continued and undying support, We'll see you out there next year. Keep it heavy my friends! Signing off." More...

Warbringer Kicking Off North American Tour

Warbringer will launch a new North American tour in New York City on January 5th, 2016 at The Gramercy Theatre. This co-headliner trek with Sweden's Enforcer will be almost two months and cover the U.S. and Canada, along with opening acts Exmortus and Cauldron.

This is the first domestic tour Warbringer has done since the fall of 2013 when the group opened for Overkill and Kreator in support of last album, "Warbringer IV: Empires Collapse." This is the band's only tour planned for 2016 as Warbringer will continue to write and plan to record a fifth album later in the year.

"The band sounds fucking killer right now and I can't wait to get out there and assault the stage," comments singer John Kevill. "It is worth mentioning that I've seen a number of 'people leaving bands' news pieces recently. Most often they cite the complete impossibly of making a living playing music, and the difficulty of the touring lifestyle. Well, I can say from experience that all of that is true.

"It's tough, there's no denying that. But that isn't what I want to talk about here. What I want to talk about is what has kept me going for the 10+ years and 1000+ concerts I have done with this band I started right after finishing high school. I've seen more of the world than I ever thought was possible, met thousands of people from all walks of life, and from them learned much of the world. Among other things, I learned to remain humble and to always remember what an honor and privilege it is to perform songs I made with my friends, to complete strangers who live thousands of miles away who will come out on a work night to see me and my fellow band dudes banging our heads. Too many people lose sight of this. So that is why I am still here, and why I will see you guys on each of the 47 dates of this tour. Be ready. I am." More...

Warbringer Banned From House Of Blues

Joining the likes of Skeletonwitch and other esteemed metal alumni, the recently reformed Warbringer has been banned from playing the House Of Blues for lyrical content. Warbringer comments:

"So a special announcement from the folks at Disney Inc. Warbringer has been banned from the show with Meshuggah on April 13th at the House of Blues Anaheim.

"The show will proceed but we won't be on it. Our band name/image/lyrical content are somehow objectionable to proper Disney image and family values. We are not told of specifically why. We will still appear the following day at the San Diego House of Blues as Disney has nothing to do with that one.

"As the person who wrote all our lyrics, I'm not sure how anything I've written is worse than:

-the goose-stepping Nazi hyenas from Scar's song in the lion king
-the racist crows in Dumbo
-Bambi in general ("Mom! Nooo!)

"Remember everyone, censorship blows. Hope to see you guys' support at the Whisky April 30th." More...

Warbringer Is Back In Action With New Lineup

Warbringer built a reputation for itself: the Southern California thrash metal band was part of every major tour around the globe for five years straight. In that time, the group somehow found time to record four albums of unrelenting aggression. And then it all came to a screeching halt.

"I really thought that the 'Empires Collapse' record cycle ended prematurely due to the departure of (guitarist) John Laux and (drummer) Carlos Cruz. I figured it would be the end of the band, and the end of my life's work, as I'd really put everything I had into this band" explains singer John Kevill.

"I remember on the last show we played on that US tour (guitarist) Adam Carroll came to me and told me how we had to keep the torch held high and to realize the full potential of the band no matter what. We carried on the following European tour with fill-in members, as we really hate to cancel a gig and let down our fans, but it really seemed like the end for us. Fortunately, though it took a long time, we have been able to find musicians in our area to help carry on the torch of the destructive, intense music this band stands for. So welcome Vicken Hovsepian on drums, Noah Young on guitar, and Alex Malmquist on bass. Our mission since we started rehearsing together was to be the tightest incarnation of the band yet, and to raise the bar and move forward, never back. So far progress has been great and I can't wait to get out there and unleash this new weapon upon the world."

After months of intense rehearsal the five-piece is ready to show the world the new Warbringer. The campaign starts with an Asian assault because there's nothing better than flying halfway across the world and debuting your new lineup in front of a huge crowd at the Hammersonic Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia alongside established heavyweights like Lamb of God, Mayhem, Vader, Unearth, and The Faceless among others. This show will be followed by additional headlining dates in the region, an area Warbringer has attacked feverishly before.

"We are extremely pumped to return to Asia. It will be our third time over there and we're ready to get back into action and bust some skulls! We've played Indonesia and Taiwan before but this run will include our first visit to China so we're excited for that" states Kevill. More...

Warbringer Comments On Band Lineup

After parting ways with two members earlier this year, Warbringer has issued the following update about the band lineup:

"Status report - new lineup almost complete. Of previous members, it is myself (Kevill) and original guitarist Adam Carroll remaining.

"We have two new guys, Noah Young on guitar and Vicken Hovsepian on drums, these dudes kill on their instruments and in the month or so we've all been jamming we have about 12 songs getting pretty fucking tight. They are both longtime metalheads and have been into Warbringer for many years, and know well the spirit of the band. Awesome to work with such motivated and talented people.

"Unfortunately Ben Mottsman (Bass) is not going to be joining us again, best wishes to him in his new project, farewell to a rocking dude.

"We have some bass tryouts coming up and we'll see how that goes. Yeah, I know, we've hit basically every conceivable obstacle out there and this is taking forever. But we aren't gonna play a damned note to you guys until the band is sounding tighter than ever, we aren't gonna do some half-assed comeback, when you see us again it's gonna be sharp as a goddamned razor."

Warbringer Parts Ways With Two Members

Warbringer, which released latest album "IV: Empires Collapse" late last year, has issued the following announcement about parting ways with two members:

"So guys, all our fans and supporters, Kevill here up way too late drinkin', there's some bad news and as our awesome fans you guys deserve to know. I don't feel right about our prolonged silence on this issue and I think it's time we clear things up.

"Drummer for the 3rd and 4th records Carlos Cruz and founding guitarist John Laux have left the band. This is a huge and devastating blow to us, and it makes even my own self doubt our future. Carlos made great contributions on the last two records, and John Laux started the band with me, we wrote our first songs together.

"The more astute listeners have noticed this, as our last tour we did not have either of them on board. As for the why's, I don't entirely understand it myself, so I can't provide a decent explanation here. I really wish I understood more than I do.

"Still remaining is myself, founding member Adam Carroll (he's back) and bassist of the fourth record Ben Mottsman.

"This is why you haven't heard much from us lately, why the nonstop touring machine has grinded to a halt, and why any updates here are more about the past than they are of the future. More...

"Sorry to all the Turkish fans for us not appearing in Istanbul tonight. There was issues beyond our control with border paperwork, and we were not able to make the show.

"Enjoy the rest of the tour and we hope we can make it there soon, it is a real disappointment for us not being able to play for you guys." More...

Overkill, Kreator Kill Worcester With Aggression

As if the ante of seeing Testament, Overkill and Flotsam & Jetsam needed to be raised, the thought of seeing Kreator, Overkill and Warbringer was much too tempting an offer. I was fortunate enough to see Overkill on that fateful day – February 16, 2013 – the last show that Blitz would sing on the tour due to contracting pneumonia – which forced him into the hospital in Buffalo the next day and forced the band off the tour. Looking back on that day, I thought despite the illness, Blitz sounded great – however, he did leave the stage nearly every time he stopped singing. Chuck Billy of Testament, who was also sick, sounded pretty awful, but he was a trooper and put on a great show regardless. Flash forward to November 1st and The Palladium in Worcester would be witness to what I can only describe as the “Tour of North American Aggression.” More...
