Louisville’s black metal horde Anagnorisis is preparing for the scorching Summer unleashing of its first new full-length since 2007’s "Overton Trees," as the band's massive sophomore LP "Beyond All Light" nears release. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Thunderously capturing Anagnorisis’ most expansive material to date, 'Beyond All Light' was meticulously recorded by the band and mixed by guitarist Zak Denham and his One by One Studios, and then mastered by Brian Lueken at Decibel Mastering.
"The two-part LP is broken into two segments, each act featuring three massive songs overall encompassing nearly fifty minutes. The band’s already classically-influenced but forward-thinking approach to black metal ventures into new territories, and while skeletal elements of their earlier material shrouds the material, more orchestral and atmospheric elements penetrate the band’s wickedest, blazing attacks ever.
"While comparisons to notable bands like Nachtmystium, Emperor, Summoning and Drudkh can be made, Anagnorisis weave their own unique visions and configurations into their songcraft, creating a wholly engaging, epic atmosphere."
Louisville, Kentucky-based black metal perpetrators Anagnorisis have completed the recording of their second LP, and the beast is now in the final stages of preparation before being cast upon the populous this Summer. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Based on a Greek phrase for 'discovery,' Anagnorisis was founded in 2003 by Austin Lunn (Panopticon), and the act set out to experiment with merging symphonic and death-infused black metal styles. They recorded the debut album Overton Trees and released it in 2007, the album instantly gaining the band a widespread following beyond the local sector, to which they tormented with live attacks. Lunn moved on and several other lineup changes took shape over the following years since, with the band releasing two EP’s released in the interim – 2009’s Alpha & Omega, and 2012’s Ghosts Of Our Fathers – with each new incarnation and new recording showing new innovations and expansions on their thesis, and their blackened metal continually taking the form of something more insidious.
"Their first full-length since 2007, Anagnorisis now confirms the title of the new opus as 'Beyond All Light,' the album containing the band’s most expansive material to date, following months of production as the band recorded everything themselves at guitarist Zak Denham’s own One by One Studios. Now completely harnessed, the masters have been passed to Ken Sorceron (Abigail Williams) who is currently handling mixing and mastering duties. The band will unleash Beyond All Light on their own in a plethora of configurations, including CD, LP, cassette and digital formats. Confirmed release dates will be announced in the coming days."

Anagnorisis, the Louisville, KY-based black/death metal band, has released a new EP entitled “Ghost of Our Fathers," breaking the three year hiatus with a slew of shows planned for July and August, including a stint of dates with Abigail Williams. The songs can be heard in the player below, or over at bandcamp. The track listing is as follows:
1. Clan of Kerr
2. Only Suffering is Free
Anagnorisis also commented, “In the last three years, we have lost two men very close to us: Zachary’s father James E. Kerr, and Samuel’s step-father Robert C. Dayle. This two song release is a tribute to their memory. Ghost of Our Fathers is a look at the new era of Anagnorisis, while using the recurring themes of black and death metal that have defined our music over the past nine years.
"As the term 'anagnorisis' represents self-discovery and awareness, band members Zachary Kerr and Samuel Hartman each crafted the lyrics to the new songs – Clan of Kerr and Only Suffering is Free – fueled by the idea that each is a cleansing of the grief that comes with death. Musically we owe much to our guitarist, Zak Denham, who spent long hours writing, recording, and programming these songs. The music is intense, aggressive, and showcases the direction of our next full length planned for release in 2013.
"No one likes dormancy, and we give our heartfelt thanks to our fans that have stuck with us and waited patiently for the return of this band. Just as our lives would not be shaped without our fathers, our band’s success would nothing without our supporters. Listen, download, and enjoy our new music as we march forward as a new, stronger Anagnorisis.” More...
Kentucky metallers, Anagnorisis, have issued the following message welcoming drummer Adam Pierce back to the band:
"We are proud to announce the return of long time drummer Adam Pierce back to Anagnorisis. After departing from the band less than five months ago, Pierce has returned more eager than ever."
The official statement from Adam Pierce is as follows:
"I am proud to announce my return to Anagnorisis. After spending a short time in the Bay Area pursuing various musical endeavors, I am moving back to my hometown to plague the nation with my metal brothers. My first show back with the band will be October 20th in Louisville. Please check out our myspace for more details and be on the look out for our new EP. This EP is definitely an extreme step for Anagnorisis, but it will definitely turn some heads. We are pushing the limit more than ever, which is what this genre is all about."
Kentucky metallers, Anagnorisis, issue the following update:
"Adam Pierce, original drummer for Anagnorisis, will be leaving the band in June to pursue his life in California, and we are now beginning the search for his replacement. Interested parties should record themselves playing "The Great Divorce" and "Birth of the Pariah" - both available on our MySpace - and upload the files to YouTube or e-mail audio files to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are seriously interested and do not have the equipment to record yourself, please contact us and we will work something out.
While Zak Denham has been handling both guitar duties since the departure of Austin Lunn, we would be happy to welcome a talented, professional guitarist into the fold. Following the example above, please record yourself playing both songs (rhythm parts only), if interested."
"This situation in no way affects any of our touring plans or shows, and Anagnorisis will continue to dominate in 2008. Nemesis Enforcer drummer Jake Denham will be filling in for Adam in June while a replacement is sought. Our current touring plans include the majority of the month of May - watch our Myspace for details. We are open for booking inquiries, so please contact us at myspace.com/anagnorisis or email@example.com for tour offers or with any other questions. Thank you." More...
