The new Suicidal Angels album “Divide and Conquer“ will be released on January 10th, 2014 (January 14th in North America).
Singer Nick recalls: “We recorded again in the Music Factory and Prophecy Studios and the mix and master this time was done by Fredrik Nordstrom at Fredman Studios. We didn’t know what to expect for the final result, but what we got is killer. He managed to combine the old school feeling of our music with an up to date production of 2013, absolutely massive!”
The cover artwork has been handled by Ed Repka (Megadeth, Death, Municipal Waste) and can be viewed below. The band comments: “If you notice, in the pit, it's not people fighting, it's zombies. Also the crowd isn't human, they are zombies. They are the souls of people who have no human feelings anymore. They represent the ugliness and the inhumanity of the humans. Thus, turned into something else, they are easier to be conquered and manipulated.” More...

A couple of months ago, I wrote a column examining three metal bands from Turkey, the country which bridges Europe and Asia, and a conversation was struck wherein I mentioned the idea of checking out some of the underground metal music that Turkey’s neighbours, Greece have to offer. Greece is certainly one of the most fascinating countries in Europe, if not the world, owing to its ancient history, philosophers, contributions to science, maths and politics and mythology, and it’s a place that enjoys heavy metal music too. Some of the more significant Greek metal bands around today include Rotting Christ, Firewind and SepticFlesh, but this week we will uncover three bands which aren’t as well known.
Of all the bands featured this week, Suicidal Angels are probably the most well known, having worked extremely hard over the past few years to spread their brand of thrash metal. The group was formed in the Greek capital city of Athens in 2001 by singing guitarist, Nick Melissourgos and eventually recorded their first full length album, "Eternal Domination" in 2007, which was released in July of that year. The record did well enough to gain them a place supporting such thrash legends as Overkill, Kreator and Onslaught. The release of their second album, "Sanctify the Darkness" further solidified their place as one of the best young thrash metal acts around, and led them to more appearances with high profile artists, as well as slots at such festivals as Sonisphere and Wacken Open Air. The band has since released two more full length records, the most recent of which, "Bloodbath," hit the shelves last year.
Suicidal Angels - "Apokathilosis"
Greece's Suicidal Angels split with guitarist Panos last month, and the band has now checked in with the following update about working with a new member who will be officially revealed soon:
"Hey maniax everywhere! It's been a while but we are back with great news regarding the new guy! He's young, fast, hungry and already in the Suicidal way of thinking, can't wait to present him to all of you!
"The rehearsals have been going great so far and within the next days we will announce him officially, so you can give him a proper Thrash Metal greeting!
"We will also be announcing our upcoming winter tour with the band that's heavy as a bulldozer and lethal as the Amazon...Get the hint and wait for more, we've said enough already! So, see you in a few days! Thrash ' Till Death!"

Greek act Suicidal Angels has posted the following brief announcement online about parting ways with guitarist Panos Spanos:
"After 3.5 years Panos has decided to leave the band to devote himself to his family. A new era for Suicidal Angels lies ahead, join the Moshing Crew and keep thrashing!!!"

The organizers of Extremefest have now issued the following announcement about confirming Forgotten Tomb and Ultrawurscht:
"Forgotten Tomb been around since 1999 and the Italians have caused quite a stir in the black and dark metal underground! 'Songs To Leave' (2002) or 'Love`s Burial Ground' (2004) are rightfully considered milestones of melancholic dark metal that the fourpiece infuses with doom and black metal elements. In 2011, Forgotten Tomb released their most recent effort 'Under Saturn Retrograde' and fans can look forward to one of the rare appearances of the Italians at the Austrian and German editions of Extremefest!
"It´s all about the sausage with Bavarian / Austrian act Ultrawurscht! Their highly explosive mixture of death metal, grind and hardcore – or simply 'Wurschtcore' – will one day conquer the world, and if you had the chance to check out albums such as 'Cheese Ass Built My Hot Dog' you`ll agree! Mixing metal and sausages should be declared a form of art anyway, so slap some wieners on the grill before checking out Ultrawurscht`s exclusive set at the Austrian edition of the Extremefest 2012!"

"But that's it… The 10-day tour of May/June has come to an end after 6 festivals and 4 club shows and we can finally say 'Thank You' to all those who showed up, watched our shows, moshed and had a drink with us, making life on the road fun once again.
"A big thrashing hail goes out to our new brothers and friends, Krisiun, death metal extraordinaire from Brazil, whom we had the honor and pleasure of meeting in person at the Metalfests and drinking together! Besides the grandeur of the band, these guys are also amazing men so be sure to show up at their shows if they're playing in your town and enjoy this war machine on stage!
"Furthermore, to Hati from Equilibrium and Chris (Korean Guy), the band's light engineer, who proved to be worthy comrades to the Metalfests' aftershow parties! Fortunately (or not), whatever happens backstage, stays backstage… So no more on that... More...
