"The very first show we played after recording Show Your Colors was a secret gig at Helsinki's On the Rocks. This show (played under the moniker Gold Johnson Big Band) was also the very first time we played live with Ari. So what better way to wrap up the touring for SYC than to return to that very same place for one more show before we start concentrating on putting the finishing touches to the new material! This gig on saturday, October 23rd is gonna be a special "an evening with" -party, as we're gonna fuck around with the setlist a lot, with unusual tunes from our back catalogue, as well as throwing in some odd cover songs. And who knows, you just might hear some new material for the very first time...

"So, mark your calendars: Amoral @ On the Rocks, Helsinki, saturday 23rd of October. See you there!"

Mauro Gargano Leaves the Ari Koivunen Band

Drummer Mauro Gargano has issued the following statement (translated to English):

"Already for sometime I have had lost the inspiration from doing this. Now that the guys left to the Raskas Joulu-tour and Ari has his next own gig only in January, there opened the possibility that they have time to find a new fellow in my place and no one is left in trouble... There is no bigger drama to this thing. Koivuset [Ari Koivunen Band] are still my great friends and I wish nothing but the best to them. It would kind of have been a backhanded favor to continue with them, when the others play fullhearted and I'm not so into that... And in addition we will release The Mama King -band's album in the spring. So there. :)"

Ari Koivunen, solo artist and winner of the Finnish national TV talent competition "Idols," was recently announced as the new singer for Finnish metal band Amoral.

Amoral Announces New Vocalist, Ari Koivunen

Finnish heavy metal act Amoral has posted the following message online:

"Amoral is a five-piece again! Since the announcement of Niko leaving we've received tons of applications from singers all over the world. As we mentioned earlier, we wanted to find a guy who was not only able to handle the growling of the old songs, but who also had a strong melodic voice. Well, little did we know that we'd end up with one of the most talented vocalists around! Ari's (Koivunen) merits as a singer are well known (at least here in Finland), but it might surprise a lot of people that the dude can also growl with the best of them! And the fact remains that he truly was the strongest candidate from all those who applied for the job.

"Being the sneaky bastards that we are, we have been writing and practising hard for a long while now while keeping low profile, and we're happy to announce that the material for the fourth Amoral album is just about ready! The recording will start next month and will go on through January. The album should be out before the summer. Of course, we'll keep you guys posted.

"Now, before some of you old-school Amoral maniacs condemn us to hell: No, we're not going power metal on your asses. The trademark riffs are still there. The little quirkiness. The "fuck everybody" attitude. And most importantly, the songs are just as strong as you've come to expect from us. Stronger, actually. You could clearly see on Reptile Ride already that we were eager to push our music to a more melodic direction, and the next natural step was to go all the way with the vocals. This is a new beginning for us, and we truly believe our best work is still ahead of us."

Ari Koivunen's "Becoming" Debuts At #1

Ari Koivunen's second album, "Becoming," entered the Finnish Album Chart in the number 1 spot. In addition, the album has already received Gold-status for selling more than 15,000 copies in Finland.

In related news, guitarist Luca Gargano has decided to depart from the Ari Koivunen band. He has posted the following statements to his myspace blog (in English) and in the forum of arikoivunen.fi (in Finnish). Here is the English version:

"I'm sad to announce that I no longer play with Ari Koivunen. This was entirely my own decision, and I just wanted to go on with my own career. So there was no fight, no argue, no musical differences and no one fired anyone. I just wanted to quit now when the new album was ready and released and the band had a short break to settle things for the future.

"We're still best friends with Ari, Erkka, Erkki, Mauro and Vili, but now it's time for me to go on and put together the band I've always dreamed of. What it's going to be... You'll find out in the near future, I promise."
