Having made additional progress on the recording of vocals, Crown the Lost have issued yet another studio update from the recording session of their upcoming new album, "Blind Faith Loyalty:"
"Alas, some tangible progress has been made on the vocal front. After some male bonding sessions between Renaldi and Watson (lots of hand-holding, hugs, and tears, especially on Watson’s part) we are now halfway done with recording of the vocals.
"A notorious slow-starter, Renaldi has swung into a nice little groove, with his vocals coming out unbelievably well, sounding like a deranged cross between Dickinson, Belladona, and Mike Reno of Loverboy. Uh, scratch the Loverboy comparison....
"Nevertheless, we’re all enthused about the progress we’re making. We’re fairly cognizant of how our vocals work within our style and it was something we decided to make priority 1 when writing these new songs.
"Word on the street is that we’ll have a rough track up next week. I sure hope so - I’m tired of talking about something that we have no evidence of..."
Crown The Lost's David Gehlke has updated fan on the recording process once again, stating that "recording has progressed to the vocal stage, although a wintry cold has derailed Renaldi at the moment, but we should have some vocals completed by the end of this weekend. Everything else is done, and if we are so inclined, we might put up a rough track of one of the album's 10 selections."
"In a related matter, we are still filming that ever-elusive in-studio documentary. Yours truly has shot roughly 30 minutes of footage of various CTL happenings in the studio, which will be edited down to a 10-minute (or less) spot once the album is completed. Early plans to put out several documentaries was shelved due to time restraints and a lack of Final Cut expertise on my part."
"Finally, we are in the process of booking shows for April and beyond. We have two lined up at the moment and subsequent plans should see us fill up May and the summer months. Additionally, we have bandied about the idea of us making some "weekend warrior" treks in our van, which has been mauled by the various kickboxing skills of Renaldi and Joe, leaving an inordinate amount of dents on the right side. Oh well. At least we don't have to do a car convoy..."
Crown the Lost have issued a new studio blog from the recording of their upcoming album "Blind Faith Loyalty":
"Renaldi's cabin fever has subsided, and we're onto the recording of guitars. The last two weekends have been devoted to cutting guitar tracks, with Joe and myself hunkered down in the control room while Watson sits there and nit-picks our playing. This is truly Joe's time to shine (excuse the apparent lameness) - he handles the rhythms for all of his songs (5) and three of my songs. We've always operated this way largely because of budget and time restraints, but for the glaring fact that Joe could play these songs upside-down in a sandbox and they'd still come out sounding tight.
"Perhaps the biggest coup of the past two weekends was being able to use Tim from Grave Desire's (aka 'The Manticore') JSX guitar head, which has provided quite the searing and rigid guitar tone. This is our first time using this head and the results speak for themselves - the guitars are pretty nasty sounding, even when playing some of our more melodic material. We're quite delighted as to how our songs our turning out with this guitar sound, namely "Finality," "Defame the Hypocrite" and the title track, all of which have emerged to be album highlights.
"At this juncture, we're 90% finished with guitars, then it's onto bass. Vocals will begin next weekend, which means Renaldi can no longer sit in the studio lounge on my computer, searching for videos on the Internet depicting people defecating into each other's mouths. Such videos have caused a major backlog on this very computer, causing yours truly to spend the bulk of his Sunday trying to download virus software to weed this stuff out. As they say - Renaldi will be Renaldi. The dude just doesn't quit....."
