Latest Crown The Lost News
Below is our complete Crown The Lost news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Pittsburgh metal band, Crown The Lost, has issued the following studio update:
"We are currently holed up in Soundscape Studios with Dave Watson recording a cover of Faster Pussycat's 'House of Pain.' Reason being, Renaldi often refers to our rehearsal room as his 'house of pain' when there is no alcohol present, so it was fitting..."
...just kidding. Maybe one day - that is a good jam; you can't deny it. Joking aside, we are indeed in the process of recording a new song for our own benefit and it probably won't see the light of day until album #3 hits next year. That, or when we do our best-of collection in 2027. Check out some pics of us being idiots in the studio here."
"On the show front, we will be opening for the mighty Edguy at Peabody's Down Under in Cleveland on Saturday, September 12th. We do have tix available, so hit us up: firstname.lastname@example.org. We just confirmed (like, 15 minutes) ago an opening slot with Sonata Arctica on Tuesday, October 13th @ the Rex Theatre in Pittsburgh. Ticket details forthcoming - it should rock. "
Having just released their sophomore album, "Blind Faith Loyalty," Crown the Lost has issued an update on their latest activities:
"Per the usual in the CTL camp, there is a flurry of activity going down, central of which is live dates around the release of Blind Faith Loyalty. To backtrack a little, much thanks to everyone who came and rocked at our CD release show on May 9th, especially the mighty Dofka and In the Wake. Although it was roughly 900 degrees on stage, we still managed not to make fools of ourselves. Well, not everyone - Dom can't help himself. We are currently in the process of lining up shows outside of the Pittsburgh area, so be on the lookout for five gangly (sans Kevin & Joe), ugly (sans me) dudes in a town near you. Looming around the corner is Argus' CD release show this Saturday, June 6th @ the Smiling Moose. We are the third act on the bill, so come and rock with us.
"As noted not too long ago, we have tons of new merch for sale on our main website, so please head over and check it out."
Pittsburgh metalllers Crown The Lost are currently streaming their entire new album "Blind Faith Loyalty" online. The album can be heard here.
"Blind Faith Loyalty" is set to be released in Europe on April 17th and North America on May 5th.
Per the release of "Blind Faith Loyalty" on May 5 (April 17 in Europe), Crown The Lost will be having their official CD release show at the Smiling Moose in the Southside in Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday, May 9 at 9:30 PM. Additional acts will be announced shortly.
The band still has Exodus tickets for sale for their Saturday, April 4 date with the Bay Area thrashers. Hit them up on MySpace if you're interested.
Crown the Lost has announced Dom Scarano, who's been playing with the band since December, as their official new bassist. Here's the update from the band:
"Really no surprise here - bassist Dom Scarano is now officially a member of the CTL fold. Dom has proven to be a viable commodity since he began jamming with us in mid-December and we are eager to move forward with him holding down the low end. A converted guitar player, Dom has picked up on our set with ease and better yet, has demonstrated a penchant for odd humor that immediately endeared himself to the always hard-to-please Joe and Renaldi. Since we are a family-oriented band, some of this material bears not repeating, but I'm sure you'll get the idea.
"In other worthy news, the release date for Blind Faith Loyalty is now Tuesday, May 5th in North America; April 17 in Europe via Cruz del Sur Music. While we had hoped for a March release, this will give us more time to prepare and promote the album and above all else, get our shit together. Not like it wasn't before, but the benefit of extra time should bode well for us.
"As a reminder, we have tickets for our April 4 show with Exodus, so please hit us up while supplies last. We can be reached through this very Myspace page or by email: email@example.com."
The band has the following shows lined up currently:
Apr 4, 2009 7:30P - Rex Theatre w/ Exodus Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Apr 17, 2009 9:00P - The Fallout Shelter Aliquippa, Pennsylvania
May 30, 2009 9:00P - RPM’s w/ Jacob’s Dream Bridgeville, Pennsylvania

Crown The Lost has posted a year-end round up on their MySpace blog, including word or their new stand-in at the bass position. Here's the update from the band:
"First things first: our show last night (December 19) @ Excuses was a success, so much thanks to our new friends Lucidity and the dudes of In the Wake for coming out and rocking. We'll have to do it again.
"Our bass position is going to be manned for the time being by Dom Scarano, who comes to us from Kevin's old band, Allanon. Dom's first show with us will be Friday, January 16 @ The Smiling Moose, so we have the next few weeks to throw everything we can at him. Methinks he'll handle it just fine.
"As for 2008, like most things, they didn't go as planned, although the band now is at a better place than it was a year ago at this time. Shedding three members was not something we particularly enjoyed doing, but in the end it has all worked out. If anything, we'll take the experiences of this year and translate them to 2009, where we plan on having a lot less bumpy of a trip.
"March of '09 will see the release of Blind Faith Loyalty via Cruz del Sur Records and suffice it to say, we are both enthused and relieved to get the album released. Subsequently, songwriting for our third album will commence in the coming weeks and that, along with promoting BFL will be the focus of the new year.
"Massive hails to all the new friends we made this year and everyone who has been directly or indirectly involved with CTL. We'll buy you a beer. Or if the Steelers win the Super Bowl (Satan willing they don't), Joe will buy you five. He gets generous when that shit happens. Not me. I'm skipping town."
Pittsburgh progressive power-thrash band Crown the Lost has parted ways with bassist Shaun Gunter. Here's the announcement from the band:
"We have decided to mutually part ways with bassist Shaun 'Grimes' Gunter. Shaun was a valuable contributor to the band in many facets and we wish him the best of luck. We have already found a replacement and all live activity will continue as planned."
Here's a statement from Shaun regarding the split:
"Greetings, As some of you may know, my time as the bassist for Crown the Lost has come to a close. Both parties collectively agree that it is time for me to pursue other interests, as personal and creative differences have begun to hinder progress.
"I cannot stress enough that I harbor no ill will towards the remaining members - this experience has allowed me to grow as a musician and even more as a person. I'd like to thank the band and everybody that I have met as a result of my membership for everything they have contributed.
"Farewell and good luck to all of you!"
Pittsburgh progressive power-thrash band Crown The Lost has announced that they're booking shows for the rest of 2008 and early 2009 as well as some other updates.
"Much to our chagrin, winter has arrived early in Pittsburgh, meaning Joe can't parade around in a sleeveless shirt everyday and Grimes gets to wear his leather jacket that has all of this lame embroidery on it. I kid thee not.
"We are currently in the process of lining up shows for December of '08 and into 2009. One date confirmed thus far is on April 5th with some newb thrash band called "Exodus." Not sure who they are. Ask Renaldi. We shall have ticket info soon, of which we will post immediately. We do hope to have at least one Pittsburgh show before the end of the year, which will serve as Kevin's first gig with the CTL clan.
"As evidenced by our new profile pic, we do have a new shirt design courtesy of Derrick "Mullet Chad" Nau of Skeletonwitch fame. Derrick was introduced to us by none other than Teh Charn, which might be the first worthwhile thing to come about in our relationship with the JFAC sticksman. Said shirts should be ready to go in a few weeks, so be sure to pick one up - Renaldi needs to buy some amino acids..."
You can view the new shirt design mentioned above here.
Pittsburgh-based melodic thrash metallers CROWN THE LOST have signed a worldwide deal with Italy-based Cruz del Sur Music for the release of their "Blind Faith Loyalty" album, set for a March 2009 release.
Commented guitarist David E. Gehlke: "Obviously, we're enthused to be working with such a reputable label like Cruz del Sur. We've heard plenty of good things about the label from both fellow bands and colleagues alike, so it was quite an easy decision to make. We look forward to finally getting 'Blind Faith Loyalty" out and giving it the proper promotion it needs."
"I am very excited about releasing CROWN THE LOST's 'Blind Faith Loyalty,'" said label owner Enrico Leccese. "Few newcomers made such an impact on me as when I first heard CTL's first self-released album, so I felt I had to follow the evolution of the band closely. Then came the first cuts from 'Blind Faith Loyalty' and I was so blown away by their perfect balance between aggressive thrash metal and classic heavy metal that I felt the urge to offer them to be part of our roster. I am sure 'Blind Faith Loyalty' will be one of the albums you'll remember on your 2009 best of the year lists."
The follow-up to 2006's critically-acclaimed "Reverence Dies Within" album, "Blind Faith Loyalty" expands upon CROWN THE LOST'S intricate and memorable blend of progressively-tinged thrash and melodic metal, this time with a greater emphasis on vocal dynamics and instrumental breaks.

Crown The Lost issue the following message welcoming their new drummer, Kevin Antonacci:
"You know, we figured finding a drummer in Pittsburgh was about as likely as finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. Or an empty beer can in Renaldi's refridgerator. Or an unwashed pair of girls flair jeans in Grimes' closet. In fact, we were so certain we weren't going to be able to land a new sticksman, we took new band promo photos with just the four of us, but it appears we have found our guy in the form of Kevin Antonacci." More...
Crown the Lost is still seeking a drummer and has issued the following update on that topic and more:
"Our drummer search is ongoing, as we have several interested applicants entering the vaunted CTL drummer tryout phase. Unfortunately, drummers don't grow on trees here in Pittsburgh, or we'd already be playing shows and being more active on the live front than we currently are. Alas, 'tis not the case, so our hunt continues.
"As for the prospective release of Blind Faith Loyalty, we are oh-so close to inking a worldwide deal that will allow for the album to released in the spring of 2009. Hopefully it will be worth the wait. If not, Renaldi will personally come to your door with a refund coupon along with the cheapest '40 he could scrounge up.
"More to come. Perhaps a surprise or two..."
Crown The Lost has posted final versions of two new songs online: "Defame the Hypocrites" and "Blind Faith Loyalty." The latter was previously posted in pre-final form.
The band comments on the recording process and end results:
"While we lost two members along the way and totally missed our projected finish date due to circumstances beyond our control, we are beyond enthused with the final product and anxiously await our subsequent live shows, whenever they may be."
"The album would not be what it is without the tireless work efforts of our producer, Dave Watson. Watson's infinite patience and dedication towards the project never ceased to amaze any of us and deserves the bulk of the credit for how the album sounds. In a perfect world, he'd be recording some upper-echelon metal band, not five jag-offs from Pittsburgh..."
There is not currently a release date set for "Blind Faith Loyalty" and the band is still seeking a record deal for its release, eyeing a fall release time-frame.
Former Crown the Lost/current Job For A Cowboy drummer Jon "The Charn" Rice will be handling drum duties for our July 12 show at The Smiling Moose in Pittsburgh, PA. "Jon, who is currently on a European festival run with Job For A Cowboy, has gratiously accepted to fill in for us during this time of need, and for that, we will reward him with a case of beer and full access to my ever-unmanageable CD collection," commented the band.
"With that in mind, be sure to come out to the aforementioned show. We will be busting out some older tunes from the first album and Jon will be tackling some jams from Blind Faith Loyalty, so it should be a rocking time all around."
Pennsylvania based thrashers, Crown the Lost, issue the following update regarding the departure of their drummer:
"We are in search of a new sticksman to man the drum throne for Crown the Lost. While we will most certainly be flexible, someone within the age 20-30 is preferred, along with the prerequisite good attitude, technical ability (sorry, no Phil Rudd clones need apply) lack of ego, willingess to work, and all-around intagibles that comprise of a good band member." Crown The Lost is now mixing thier upcoming album, "Blind Faith Loyalty." Here's an update from the band:
"Updates in CTL-ville have been sparse, primarily because we've been putting the finishing touches on the album along with getting that Kid Rock doppleganger Grimes introduced into the fold. We are now down to the final three songs for mixing and should have the album sent off to mastering in two weeks, after which we'll finally be able to get a move on with things and get this album into the hands of more capable people than ourselves.
"We're also looking to add to our live schedule, but plan on going with a "quality over quantity" route, although that could change with the persuasion of alcohol and a free beard trimmer for Renaldi, who is now starting to resemble a sloshed Grizzly Adams. Still, we will be trying to hit up more areas than Pittsburgh in the coming months, so if anyone has any connections or the gall to invite us to their city/town/state, hit us up...."
Crown the Lost has announced their new bassist, Shaun Gunter, who replaces recently departed Ryan Eicheldinger. Here what the band had to say about Gunter's addition to the band:
"It is with great pleasure that we announce the addition of bassist Shaun Gunter to the CTL fold. Commonly referred to as "Shaun Von Grimm," "Von Grimes," "Grimes" or "Grimey," Shaun blew us away with his finger-styled, fretboard mastery, nailing his three tryout songs: "Swear to the Peerless," "No Reprieve" and "Bound to Wrath" with a sense of precision not yet heard in our Jager-adorned practice room. While other bass players were considered, Shaun was the hands-down choice to fill the vacant slot and we are more than thankful he accepted without hesitation.
"Mr. Gunter has relocated from Dayton, Ohio (no, he's not a Browns fan…) and was brought to our attention by Jason Myers of the mighty Icarus Witch. A player in the vein of Alex Webster and Robert Trujillo, Shaun has been playing bass for roughly four years and has recently cut his teeth in Reaper, an old-school thrash band out of Dayton. Shaun's low-end tools of the trade and easy-going personality has galvanized the band and adds a new dimension to our songs, both new and old that we're eager to exploit in the live arena."
Crown The Lost is currently recording their sophomore record, "Blind Faith Loyalty."
An updated version of Crown the Lost's upcoming album title track, "Blind Faith Loyalty," is on the band's MySpace. Joe’s solo is raised in the mix and there’s a little more low-end. "Blind Faith Loyalty" is due out this summer.
Crown The Lost, who are currently recording their sophomore record, "Blind Faith Loyalty," has parted ways with bassist Ryan Eicheldinger. Here's the update from the band:
"We have parted ways with bass player Ryan Eicheldinger. At this point in time, it appears both parties are moving in different directions and the decision to go forth without Ryan was a difficult, but natural and necessary one. Ryan has been playing with Joe, Bentzel and I on and off for the last six years in both Crown the Lost and our previous incarnation of Sinning Is Our Savior, having been witness to the countless ups and downs we’ve endured since we started in June of 2002. Ryan’s contributions, whether on the promotional, musical, or comedic front have not gone unnoticed, and we wish Ryan the best in his future endeavors, whatever they may be…
"At this point in time, we are ready and eager to move forward with a new member manning the bass position. Auditions have already begun, with several tantalizing Ohio-bred candidates emerging as frontrunners. We hope to have a new bassist enlisted by the end of the month and once that task is completed, we will move forward with live dates and the even more daunting task of promoting our new album."
