Guelph, Ontario based hardcore/grind act Drudgery has streamed their entire debut album, "Rust," online at the band's MySpace page. The album will be released through Year of the Sun Records on July 15th, 2008.
"One of the ultimate goals for any band is for as many people to hear the music as possible, and in this day and age it's great how easy it is to be able to make your material so accessible to the listeners," says drummer Matt Connell. "We worked really hard on ‘Rust', from the writing stages, to the last stages of the recording process, and wound up making a disc that we feel delivers some pretty raw and adrenaline pumping grind. We're stoked for people to check it out."
Drudgery is the new project spearheaded by drummer Matt Connell (Fuck The Facts, Exhumed) and features ex-Dear Black Diary bassist Steve Ferraro on vocals. The group's debut EP was recorded at Frozen Solid Studios in Guelph, Ontario by Matt Connell.
Here is Drudgery's "Rust" track listing:
1. Sink Or Swim
2. Rad Cadaver
3. At All Cost
5. Bottom Feeder
Guelph, Ontario based DEAR BLACK DIARY have announced they will disband following two final shows in Oshawa and Niagara Falls with Montreal's 3 MILE SCREAM.
"We at the Dear Black Diary camp have decided that it's time for a must needed change. After years of slugging it out, we feel that the new tunes that we have written, although still fast and brutality epic, just do not reflect the band that Jordan, Colin and I started five years ago," says bassist Steve Ferraro.
"The new stuff is so much bigger than Dear Black Diary is, so we are putting it to bed. That being said, we are planning to release our new material soon as a new project with a new name etc. DBD has been great but it's time to start something new and fresh that is representative of all five guys involved. Plus, the new name is just way better! So, don't say goodbye, just say, so-long."
Dear Black Diary released their self-titled Year of the Sun Records debut in 2006 and have toured with EMMURE, FOREVER IN TERROR, FAREWELL TO FREEWAY, ARISE AND RUIN and 3 Mile Scream.
3 Mile Scream Shoot Video, Announce Canadian Tour With Dear Black Diary 3 Mile Scream have announced dates for their upcoming tour of Eastern Canada with Dear Black Diary. The band is currently on tour in support of their Corporate Punishment debut A Prelude To Our Demise.
The band’s debut album has been receiving critical acclaim since its November release. The Montreal Mirror said, “"The ghosts of At the Gates, Meshuggah, the Haunted and Slayer reach out through their sound." While Decibel Magazine reported, "This quintet is akin to a more energetic God Forbid, with staccato riffs and languid melodies giving way to machine-gun breakdowns at almost every turn."
"We're thrilled about the response this record has been getting, as it's been nothing short of amazing and hope that we can continue that with this upcoming tour of Eastern Canada," says 3 Mile Scream bassist Mike Marino. "We just recently shot a video for 'Our Blackened Sun' with director Chad Archibald (Arise and Ruin), which is currently in the final editing stages now. The shoot made us realize just how much work goes into the creating a video. It tested our limits physically having to go full tilt, take after take to get it all on film. It was a great experience, the video looks sick and we look forward sharing it with everyone."
Dear Black Diary is currently supporting their Year of the Sun Records self-titled debut. Produced by Scott Sherar, the album is a display of technical brutality and subtle emotion. The video for the band’s debut single “Life is the Number One Cause of Death” can be viewed at MySpace.
"Everyone in the Dear Black camp are super excited to get out to the East Coast and are looking forward to terrorizing the stage each night with 3 Mile Scream,” says Dear Black Diary’s Steve Ferraro. “We will also be filming this tour for our upcoming DVD that should accompany our next release so come on out and show us what you got in the pit!"
