The Breathing Process Comments On Music Downloads

Connecticut metallers The Breathing Process have issued the following statement regarding fans illegally downloading their music:

"We know that downloading is all the rage now a days, why pay for something that you can just have right? money sucks these days, jobs suck, fuck the economy, etc. What some of you may not know is that while downloading doesnt really effect pop acts that sell 234230813520486.. records like Linkin Park or Miley Cyrus, For bands at our level, it does so much more than take money away from us (which we don't care much about). Our last album we sold roughly 6,000 copies in stores, which was a lot more than we were expecting, but in order to get on one of those awesome agencies that will put us on tours at good sounding clubs with awesome bands, we have to sell at least 10,000 or so.

"Now after some research we found around 11,000 downloads of our album from various torrent sites, which means if no one downloaded, we would've sold like 17,000 records, and would've gotten on great tours that would actually come to your cities instead of the small towns surrounding it. All that those agencies can see is the official sound scan that shows that we SOLD in STORES 6,000. Politics in the band world are fucking bullshit, but we all kind of have to deal with it. So in closing to my long stupid rant, if you care about music and wish to see our band grow and continue on to make more records, BUY IT, downloading only makes our band grow weaker. And will make you grow incessantly long pubic hair that will NEVER GO AWAY!!"

The band's sophomore album "Odyssey: (Un)Dead" is set to be released on March 9th in the U.S. and March 8th in Europe.

The Breathing Process Loses Van, etc. In Fire

New England metal band The Breathing Process suffered the complete loss of their van and personal belongings on Tuesday following a fire and subsequent explosion. Here's a statement from the group:

"Around 3 p.m. we realized our van was smoking and oil was leaking from the rear passanger side tire. We went 3 miles down the road and off the highway to a autobody repair shop. They said we would need a lot of stuff done that cost us more than we can afford. He told us for $30 he would lock our back breaks and promised us we would be able to make it to Portland, Maine safely to make money to get the van fully repaired. He said the van will still smoke and oil will pour out but it won't be a problem because the back breaks are locked. So we took his word, about 20 minutes into the drive we hear a crash to the ground and the whole van sank, we pulled over immediately and jumped out of the van to realize the tire exploded from the heat and the oil hitting the rubber. Also, that it was on fire, we grabbed water to try and put it out and it got worse. We waved people down on the highway and got a fire extinguisher and the flame grew rapidly. After 5 minutes the van was engulfed in flames and the gas tank exploded. The fire was quickly spreading to our trailer. Finally the police and fire trucks came to put out the fire but it was too late for the van and almost too late for the trailor. Our trailor is severly damaged, there is holes in it and fire damage around the whole thing. We searched through the van and nothing is more than just ash. Ren was lucky enough to find his passport sitting in ash, still intact.

"Everybody's personal belongings are gone, identification, clothes, laptops, cellphone chargers, personal hygiene supplies, our GPS, and of course all of our money.

"The police took us to a Dunkin Donuts about a mile down the road to find our way home all the way from Concord, New Hampshire. All of our phones were on the verge of dying. On top of all of this, we called the state police, and also the towing company and they told us that it will cost us $477 to get our equipment out of the garage, especially when AAA called the state police and told them have a towing company covered by AAA come, and they did not. WE HAVE NO MONEY. and the state police tells us that we owe the state of New Hampshire $10,000 for fire damage to the shoulder of the road. They told us it was so bad if anyone was in there no one would have survived.

"Luckily Chris' parents are kind enough to rent a Uhaul van with a hitch to come get all of us stranded in New Hampshire, 5 hours away from Milford, Connecticut, and pay the towing company to get our trailer back. Hopefully it is safe enough to drive 5 hours home.

"It was a disaster for us. The van is like our second home. Some of us don't even have homes but the van. We are all emotionally depressed but are trying to look at the brighter side of everything. We are all okay, and lucky enough that the van did not catch fire while we were still in it. Keep us in your prayers because the state of New Hampshire is trying to fuck us over royally.

"If anyone would like to help us our Paypal account is cdsgds@aol.com or buy our merch online. We are in great debt, and this makes it 10 times worse."

The Classic Struggle Drops Off Tour

The Classic Struggle has dropped off the remainder of their current tour. Here's the official word:

"Once again I have terrible news. In the last week or so some complications with our record has come up and we have no choice but to cancel the remainder of the Sons Of Azrael, As Eden Burns tour along with our Canada run with The Breathing Process and The World We Knew to take care of these things and get this record ready for release for all you. We will still be doing the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival and our U.S. tour with With Dead Hands Rising, A Breath Before Surfacing, and Ghost Of A Fallen Age. Also keep an eye out for us in the southeast playing one-offs and weekends. It’s been too long already and we need to focus on getting our new material into your hands. It would be impossible to get these things done correctly from the road, so we feel this is the best decision. Please keep checking back for more future dates to make up for all this cancelled shit."

As previously reported, The Classic Struggle had to cancel their dates this week following an injury to vocalist Tim Zlinksky, who recently shattered his wrist earlier in the month. Zlinsky had surgery to "rebuild his wrist with a metal plate and some screws" but was expected to be back on the road shortly.

Ferret Music and Siege Of Amida Announce Deal

Ferret Music has announced a partnership with the U.K. based Siege Of Amida Records (AKA SOAR) for North America. Carl Severson of Ferret says of the deal "We will be jointly releasing records together for the U.S. SOAR will be handling A&R and Ferret believes strongly in their vision. We have had a long friendship with Darrent Toms of the label and have been stoked to see his label grow and florish and are excited to bring them here." SOAR is the brainchild of Toms who has worked for Candlelight Records and Plastichead Distribution and Jamie Graham formerly of Terrorizer and One Little Indian Records. The label has become known for breaking new metal heroes from both sides of the Atlantic. The first releases of this new partner ship will be from The Red Death and The Breathing Process to drop in January 2008.

The Red Death hail from upstate NY and fuse the speed and barbarism of Gothenburg Thrash with the unrelenting violence of American Death Metal. They are recommended for fans of The Haunted, Malevolent Creation and At The Gates. The Breathing Process hail from Connecticut and compose in their own words melodic Death Metal with devastatingly heavy breakdowns. They are recommended for fans of Dimmu Borgir, Meshuggah and Bleeding Through. Other releases waiting in the wings for 2008 will be from SOAR artists, The Red Shore, Annotations Of An Autopsy and Traces.
