Within The Ruins is gearing up to release "Halfway Human" via eOne Music / Good Fight Music this coming March 3rd, 2017. The track listing and artwork can be seen below, while eOne comments:
"'Halfway Human' is a super-strength strike against complacency and conformity. Vocalist Tim Goergen, bassist/clean vocalist Paolo Galang and the band’s cofounders - guitarist/producer Joe Cocchi and drummer Kevin 'Drummer' McGuill – cast aside any fear of how Within The Ruins may be perceived by let their creative impulses takeover.
"Within The Ruins sound raw, reenergized and angry, with a deliciously dark sarcastic bite and attitude. They’ve jettisoned the more sterile clinician approach prevalent in the genre, having already taken the perfected super produced sound past its limits before."

"'Death of the Rockstar' stems from our distaste for the current state of the music industry," says guitarist Joe Cocchi. "The song is straight forward and speaks for itself. Massachusetts metal veterans Within the Ruins has entered the studio to begin recording a new LP for release later this year. The band will record the new effort from their own studio with producer and guitar player Joe Cocchi at the helm. Vocal production will take place at Zing studios in Westfield, MA with Jim Fogarty (Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada).
"The writing process was a bit different for this album," says Cocchi. "We took a step back and kind of reviewed some of our older material. Typically we'd rush and blast out a group of songs and then hit the studio. At the time it felt right. And It had a more organic feel. Now because of a combination of maturity and honestly just feeling sick of the same old formula, we really focused on creating something different sounding."
The yet to be named album will be the band's followup to the critically acclaimed Phenomena LP released in 2014. Cocchi concludes, "We went back to a more organic style of writing and production. I personally was finally able to abandon a lot of my writing habits or 'rules,' if you will. No more 'oh, that part doesn't really sound like us, have to change that,' type of bullshit. Doing that created a fresher sound. This is the most raw and extreme sounding material we've ever written. Keep an eye out for studio blogs and more updates."
Stay tuned for further updates.

Massachusetts metal act Within The Ruins flipped its van and trailer off an interstate in Pennsylvania yesterday afternoon. While no one was hurt, the van, trailer, and gear were completely destroyed.
"We rolled about three times from what I can remember and landed on the median. Our van and trailer are totaled," says guitarist Joe Cocchi.
The band had set sail from its hometown in MA on the way to California to begin a month-long tour with Suicide Silence along side label-mates Fit For An Autopsy. Despite the near death experience and loss of gear, the band will push on and make the third show scheduled at El Corazon on Friday, February 20th in Seattle.
Cocchi continues, "All I can say is that we're happy to be alive. I don't know how, but none of us were injured. We're on the road touring because this is all we know and love, and we want to continue. Help us get back on our feet by picking up a shirt. Thank you all for the continued support.”
Within The Ruins has debuted a brand new music video for latest single "Calling Card," which can be seen below thanks to BloodyDisgusting.com.
Directed by long time veteran director Kevin J. Custer, the video is a drastic departure from what most metal videos look like these days. "This is a perfect representation of the concept of our new album Phenomena," says vocalist Tim Goergen.
The video depicts Goergen as the main character in a comic book, a running theme throughout the band's latest release. He continues, "Comics and metal go hand in hand and we are beyond stoked on how this video came out! Definitely the most fun we've had on set for a music video."
Born Of Osiris will cap off 2014 with a North American headlining tour alongside Thy Art Is Murder, Betraying The Martyrs, Within The Ruins, and Erra in the support slots.
The trek kicks off on October 10th and wraps up November 8th, with full details available below. Born Of Osiris' Lee McKinney (guitars) states:
"We're all crazy excited about this upcoming headliner. This tour will wrap up the Tomorrow We Die Alive album cycle, which has been by far our most successful yet. Born Of Osiris fans can expect the longest and most diverse set we've played on any U.S. tour.
"The package is wild as well! We're stoked to bring our new friends Thy Art is Murder over for direct support. They are insane heavy and very fun to listen to. Betraying the Martyrs is an epic band and have been our long time friends. We couldn't be happier to have them with us again. Also, coming along is Within the Ruins and Erra, to round off what I think is gonna be quite an awesome evening of heavy ass music. We look forward to seeing you all again this fall and don't miss out." More...

Summer Slaughter came in to the same venue, Scoot Inn, as last year's stop off at Texas' capital city. The mid-July temperatures reached a scorching 99 degrees, which everyone from fans to bands did their best to stay hydrated (kudos to Scoot Inn for providing water). Keep in mind, this was still a good 5 degrees cooler than last year.
In regards to the lineup, Summer Slaughter 2014 featured artists expected from a death metal-based tour. This year the brutality of Morbid Angel, Dying Fetus, Origin and Decrepit Birth replaced the shredding progression of Animals As Leaders and Periphery.
While death metal was at the forefront of this year's festivities, complex timing and long-winded solos were dispersed throughout the bill. Memories In Broken Glass, this year's battle of the bands winner, concentrated less on guitar solos as they did low tuned, (7 or 8-string guitar) jumping rhythms and samples. I'm sure they were happy to have played a showed promoted by Come And Take It Productions as they played in front of an impressive, jumping early crowd. More...
