Within The Ruins Recording Album

Massachusetts metal act Within The Ruins has officially begun recording a brand new, yet-to-be-titled LP, tentatively slated for a summer release. The new LP will be the band's follow-up to "Elite," which was released last year.

Jason Suecof has been tapped to mix the new effort, while guitarist Joe Cocchi is engineering and producing the record in his studio. Then Within The Ruins will be bringing it into Josh Wickman's Dreadcore Studios for vocal production.

Cocchi comments: "This is the most time we have ever had to focus on writing. There are a ton of new aspects to this material. We are always aiming to create the most interesting and refreshing music that we are capable of, and I think we have finally been able to accomplish that with this album."

Within The Ruins Shooting Two Music Videos

Massachusetts act Within the Ruins will be shooting two music videos for new tracks "Feeding Frenzy" and "New Holy War" this weekend to support a new record coming out next month. The band has tapped director Kevin J. Custer to take the helm. Guitarist Joe Cocchi adds his own comments:

"These two songs are the best representation of the new album as a whole. We chose a very melodic/groove oriented song (Feeding Frenzy) which is something this album has a lot more of. The other (New Holy War) displays our more familiar fast paced and to-the-point sound and lyrically focusing on religion.

"With Kevin's help we've come up with two pretty kick ass ideas. Two back to back days of shooting will require tremendous amounts of alcohol, so we are looking for a beer sponsor as well. Just kidding, but not really."

"Elite" will be released on February 26th, 2013 via eOne / Good Fight Music. The track listing is as follows:

1. Terminal
2. Solace
3. Feeding Frenzy
4. New Holy War
5. The Charm
6. Ataxia II
7. Elite
8. I, Blashpheme
9. Absolute Hell

Impending Doom: Calling Out Nashville

According to Michael Caine's character in the film, "The Dark Knight," some men just want to watch the world burn. In the world of heavy metal, that's kind of a cool line. Actually, that's a really cool line. It's not even that far from the truth for some bands. Some bands like to express their disenchantment with the world and how they'd like to snuff it out like a cigarette butt. Others like to reflect the world in their music, showing it for what it is without passing judgment. Some bands take it one step further and command that we change the world. Impending Doom is not one of them.

On the evening of July 6th, Impending Doom brought back to Nashville's Rocketown a different message: Change yourself. Disregard the world, because it will fail you. Some bands just want to tell you that the world will burn and you shouldn't be part of it. As it turns out, during my interview with vocalist Brook Reeves and some of the band before the show, Impending Doom is about as literal about that as can be. They were joined by fellow bands Within The Ruins, Erra, The Plot In You, and To Each His Own. More...
