Latest The Ghost Inside News
Below is our complete The Ghost Inside news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
In addition to the upcoming Attila show at Fort Lauderdale’s Revolution Live on Friday, November 14th (supported by Crown The Empire and Like Moths To Flames), we at the MetalUnderground.com Official Podcast are now staging another ticket giveaway contest through the same venue: The Ghost Inside (supported by Every Time I Die and Architects) on Sunday, November 30th. If interested, submit your full name matching your ID to firstname.lastname@example.org with one of the headlining bands in the subject line.
We launch this week’s episode with the song “These Empty Skies” from Keychain, a melodic hard rock five-piece based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band formed in Novi Sad, Serbia, in 2009 covering songs by Godsmack, Shinedown, and (hold your tongue) Nickelback. After a disbandment and reformation, Keychain is currently working on a full-length original studio album.
Then co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) reports on his adventures this week on the road. He joined members of Lynchburg, Virginia metallers Mourn The Illusion on a whirlwind trek through North Carolina, starting with a headlining show by Italy’s Lacuna Coil at Greensboro’s Greene Street Club and a lively interview with the warm and lovely Cristina Scabbia (vocals). The following day came a jaunt over to Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, an intimate, underground, sparsely promoted show, and a “special evening with” Soulfly and the entire Cavalera Tribe. Stay tuned for Mike’s rundown of events.
Finally - and you knew we couldn’t leave this one alone - Mike and co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) serve up the in-depth review and analysis you’ve been anticipating (or dreading) for months: Slipknot’s upcoming fifth full-length “.5: The Gray Chapter.” While reactions on at least one of our parts are a tad early, and a patented opinion might require a few more listens, we nonetheless do our enthusiastic best to describe in thorough detail the essence of this fascinating and rather unpredictable work of metal (and yes, Slipknot IS metal).
Los Angeles hardcore band The Ghost Inside will release fourth album "Dear Youth" on November 17th on Epitaph Records.
The album was co-produced by Jeremy McKinnon and Andrew Wade. Today you can also watch the band's new video for the track "Dear Youth (Day 52)," featuring fan-submitted footage. Front man Jonathan Vigil explains the album concept in a letter written to his younger self:
"I'm writing to you now because it seems I’ve lost my way. I can't pinpoint exactly when it started, but I know that it’s not like it was before. I’ve realized the more time that passes, the more we lose touch. It’s starting to feel like all I ever do now is lose touch with things. But not you, I never wanted to lose you.
"I wish I had something to blame it all on, but I don’t. One day I was there and the next I was here. As if I was dreaming and suddenly woken up. These days I'm always wondering if what I've done is enough. It’s getting harder and harder for me to shake this feeling of stagnance.
"So old friend I’m writing to ask you what it feels like to have the whole world in your hand? Where we could set out and do anything that we imagined. Endless possibilities way before complacence set in. To be honest with you, I’ve forgotten what that all feels like. There was a wonder about us that has long since faded. That sense of excitement, I miss it.
"Dear youth, will you show me again? I need to be reminded of those times, back before this began..."

Canadian act Solace has posted a song online the band's upcoming full-length album, "Call & Response." The new album "Call & Response" is due for release on August 14th, 2012.
California hardcore act The Ghost Inside is streaming the band's new album "Get What You Give" in full, starting today. Stream the album through Altpress.com at this location. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Get What You Give is nothing short of the band’s most dynamic and riveting material thus far, an album that emphasizes deep, personal vocals, urgent riffing and pile-driving breakdowns within the framework of their heavily melodic modern metallic hardcore. The quintet's two prior releases - the breakthrough album Returners (2010) and their first full-length, Fury and the Fallen Ones (2008) - laid down the promise and potential that has now been fully delivered with Get What You Give (produced by Jeremy Mckinnon of A Day To Remember).
"The first single, 'Engine 45' is a powerful hardcore anthem built for crowd participation in the live environment, where The Ghost Inside takes pride in giving all of themselves over to the crowd. As a stand out track on the album, 'Engine 45' will undoubtedly impress die-hard TGI fans and new converts, alike. To watch the video, please go to this location."
"'Engine 45' deals with the struggle of addiction,” says front man Jonathan Vigil. “When it came time to shoot a video for it, we wanted that message to hit hard. We hired Drew Russ to direct it and it was his idea to use an old Eskimo fable. In the fable, the Eskimo plants a bloody knife outside of his igloo so that when a pack of wolves pass by they become so consumed with their bloodlust that they don't realize the knife is cutting their tongues, making them bleed to death. A concept that really proves how destructive and deadly addiction can be." More...

The Ghost Inside is currently streaming the song “Outlive” via the Epitaph Soundcloud page here. You can also listen to the song after the jump.
"Our new album is musically, lyrically and vocally our best album to date," says frontman Jonathan Vigil. "After spending two years on the road following the release of our last album (Returners), we've developed a true sound for our band. We really pushed ourselves to the limits to create something we can honestly be proud of and to prove that in life, you're always going to Get What You Give."
Epitaph Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with The Ghost Inside:
"Epitaph Records is proud to announce the signing of Los Angeles based heavy melodic hardcore band The Ghost Inside. Formed in 2007, the band has built a following with two previous records, Fury And The Fallen Ones and Returners, as well as their riveting live performances touring with bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Parkway Drive and The Devil Wears Prada.
"The Ghost Inside’s powerful and affecting sound merges insightful and introspective lyrics with charging drums, lightning fast riffs and devastating breakdowns. The group is currently working on their yet untitled Epitaph debut with Jeremy Mckinnon (of A Day To Remember) producing."
“Signing to Epitaph is a dream come true for me,” singer Jonathan Vigil says. “The label is home to some of my all time favorite bands. Epitaph continues to be successful while maintaining the integrity of an independent label. I really look forward to the future of The Ghost Inside and Epitaph. There's honestly no other place I'd want to call home. “

The Ghost Inside have posted the following statement online following the departure of drummer KC Stockbridge.
"Losing an original member is a total bummer to any band. Unfortunately, The Ghost Inside and drummer KC Stockbridge have mutually decided to part ways. KC needed some time off of a European tour to sort some things out at home, and when we went out on tour again, it wasn’t the same for either parties. We all talked and decided that it was better if we continued on without him. There are absolutely no hard feelings, and we wish KC the best of luck in whatever the future holds for him."
The band has recruited Andrew Tkaczyk to take over on a temporary basis.
