Punk-inspired heavy metal outfit Ramming Speed has teamed up with Charlottesville, VA’s Champion Brewing Company to launch its very own brew, the Black Leather IPA. The brew-tal beer will debut on April 18th during a free concert featuring the band, Iron Reagan, and others at the Champion Tap Room.
In addition to a new beer, the band has also finished tracking a new album. The follow-up to Prosthetic debut “Doomed to Destroy, Destined to Die” was once again recorded at Godcity Studios in Salem, Mass. with none other than Kurt Ballou (Skeletonwitch, Trap Them, Converge). A Fall 2015 release is expected.
Drummer Jonah Livingston commented: “On April 18th, the Ramming Speed ‘Black Leather IPA’ will debut at the brewery with a free outdoor show featuring our band alongside Iron Reagan, The Glorious Gone and Occultist. Working on this brew has been every beer-drinker’s dream come true and we’re stoked to finally try it at the show! The beer’s initial release will be highly limited, available at the showcase and at a number of Richmond bars, including the newly opened GWAR Bar.“ More...
After releasing a music video for "Anthems Of Despair (Summer Jam)" - available below - Ramming Speed has revealed plans to return to the studio next month.
This upcoming material is being recording for an expected Spring 2015 release via Prosthetic Records. Says drummer Jonah Livingston:
"We’ll be heading back to GodCity with Kurt Ballou right before Christmas to record our third LP (second for Prosthetic). This will be by far our most metal record to date. We’ve been listening to an absurd amount of Judas Priest, and while everything is still wrapped around d-beat, thrash and grind, there’s even more of an emphasis on ferociously catchy guitar wildness then ever before." Ramming Speed just released a new video clip for "Anthems Of Despair (Summer Jam)," which can be seen below, and the band also comments:
"At long last here is our fist music video! The song is an anthem for all the road dogs still slugging
away, hungry and ready for more, and the video is a love letter to the Boston DIY scene.
"For this music video we headed back up to Boston from our current home in Richmond, VA and threw a wild house party. We wanted to show the best part about being in a band; the friendship and energy that come with playing in a tiny, sweaty ass room with no stage. As we get older many have come and gone, so this video is a snapshot at some of our friends new and old that are keeping shit wild and awesome in the Boston DIY scene in 2014." More...
Bassist Jonathan Athon from Black Tusk passed away this weekend after being in a motorcycle crash, and since then many bands from across the metal community have commented on how Athon impacted their lives.
Skeletonwitch shared this story about Black Tusk:
"Many years ago we left Ohio, bound for Savannah, GA, to tour with some new friends in a band called Black Tusk. In a now legendary move (that we will never let him forget) Andrew from Black Tusk booked the shows on the wrong calendar year! This resulted in about 5 days off in a row while things got sorted out.
"Andrew, James, and Athon rolled out the red carpet (and about 500 beers) and let us move in to 'Black Tusk Manor' for those 5 days. We've been family ever since.
"Yesterday we lost a brother. Athon, we miss you. We will carry your music and the many, many, memories with us forever. Our thoughts are with Andrew, James, Athon's family, and the entire creative community in Savannah, where Jonathan Athon will be sorely missed." More...

A lyric video for “Grinding Dissent,” a new song by Boston thrashers Ramming Speed, can be seen below.
“Grinding Dissent” is a track from Ramming Speed’s Kurt Ballou-tracked Prosthetic debut, “Doomed To Destroy, Destined To Die,” due out June 25 on CD, LP, cassette and digital download. The band commented on the track:
"Grinding Dissent is largely about America’s facade of righteousness and freedom. A government that is ‘for the people’ may or may not have originally been the goal, but in this day and age, it’s obvious that protest and free speech aren’t welcome. Our police departments have military-grade weapons turned on civilians to keep us quiet while politicians smile and shake hands behind closed doors. Musically. the song starts off with punishing D-beat and ends with Ferrari-sized, Piña Colada-chugging twin guitar riffage! Put this shit on 11, crack a beer and scream at the sun.”
Boston thrashers Ramming Speed — who are currently touring alongside Goatwhore and 3 Inches of Blood — will release their Prosthetic Records debut, “Doomed to Destroy, Destined To Die,” in North America on June 25th.
More details on the album, recorded with Kurt Ballou (High On Fire, Converge, Kvelertak) at GodCity Studio, will be released shortly. The track listing is as follows:
1. Doomed To Destroy, Destined To Die
2. Anticipating Failure
3. Grinding Dissent
4. Gorgon’s Eye
5. Cretins and Cowards
6. Anthems of Despair (Summer Jam)
8. Minisitry of Truth
9. The Rhetoric of Hate and Other Examples of Wildly Unchecked Ignorance
10. Extinction Event
11. Under the Monolith
12. Hollow Giants
13. Dead Flags More...

I hear they're all awesome dudes and know what partying is supposed to be about so we're absolutely pumped to be supporting them. Ramming speed have been on my turntable quite a bit the last year so I'm really excited for them too. This tour is going to be a brachiosaurus stomping on boxes of TNT."

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of up-and-coming grind/thrash metallers Ramming Speed.
The group's full-length Prosthetic debut, "Doomed To Destroy, Destined To Die," was recorded at GodCity Studios with Kurt Ballou (Converge, Kvelertak, Black Breath) and mastered at AudioSiege with Brad Boatwright (Sleep, High on Fire, SUNN O))), Tragedy). The album is tentatively set for a late spring/early summer release. More details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Drummer Jonah Livingston commented on the signing: "We are incredibly excited to finally announce that we've signed on with Prosthetic Records, a label whose roster proves its dedication to all facets of heavy music. While our band has been extremely lucky to work with labels like Tankcrimes and Brutal Panda, this is an incredible opportunity and we're ready for the step forward! See you on the road!"
The label also comments: "Hailing from Boston, this heavy-hitting quintet -- whose sound combines the charging rhythms of d-beat punk and the aggression of thrash with NWOBHM-worthy guitar harmonies and grind's blinding speed -- is no stranger to the metal scene, having previously released a variety of records, tapes and EPs through several labels. Their aggressive tour schedules across the U.S. and Europe with such notable acts as Trap Them, Holy Grail, Torche, Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Phobia, Black Tusk and Saviours led Noisecreep to call the group 'one of the hardest-working bands in heavy metal.' Fittingly, the band will spend April and May touring with Goatwhore, 3 Inches of Blood and Revocation in the northeast and midwest; full dates and details can be found below." More...
