The festival was able to condense four hours down to one but the first day of HHFF started an hour late. I didn’t expect to see any of Evil United since they were suppose to have ended at 12:30, but my 1:15 arrival time allowed me to catch a couple of songs from the Austin-based band. Evil United may be local, but the group consists of veterans such as Jason McMaster—who was well known in the eighties as front man for Dangerous Toys and Watchtower. In addition to Evil United, he now sings in Ignitor and Broken Teeth. McMaster’s voice soared through the parking lot that comprised Midway’s stage, Evil U was the sole representative of classic heavy metal at the festival. More...

We regret to inform everyone that Norwegian black metal legends Satryicon will no longer be able to perform at this year's Housecore™ Horror Film Festival. The band explained via its official Facebook page:
"Dear U.S fans. We regret to inform that Satyricon will not perform at Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA and Horror Fest in Austin, TX in October 2014. The reasons for not being able to perform at these two festivals are both pragmatic ones and entirely different from each other.
"Satyricon will now shift its attention towards the writing of a new album, re-editing the footage from the 'Live at the Opera' live album/DVD and another project that will be announced at a later stage. It is important for the band that the U.S fans understand that you are far from forgotten and that the band look forward to come over for a full scale U.S tour as soon as it is possible. You deserve it." More...

Australian surrealist death metal terror unit Portal has completed work on a fourth full-length album entitled “Vexovoid,” the follow-up to the “Swarth” release. Profound Lore Records also commented:
"Taking their sound of singular death metal psychosis by creating their darkest and most-dense sounding album to date, 'Vexovoid' carries the tradition Portal have laid upon since their inception 18 years ago. Through the band’s strange, unsettling, avant-garde, and polarizing take on death metal (on a musical, lyrical, visual, and aesthetical level), throughout the years PORTAL have shape-shifted and inverted the genre into multiple realms of dementia. 'Vexovoid,' as expected, is another dreadful and frightening observation of unorthodox death metal terror unparalleled."
To be officially released on February 19th (LP version to be released not too long after the CD version) and featuring artwork by Reverend Kriss Hades, the track listing for “Vexovoid” is as follows:
2. The Back Wards
7. Oblotten More...

FUCK THE FACTS
Portal will be playing their one and only show for 2008 alongside Gospel Of The Horns, Urgrund and Ignivomous. The show will take place on the 26th April, somewhere in Melbourne with the actual venue yet to be announced. This will also be Gospel Of The Horn's last show before they embark on a tour of Europe and the USA. Another show featuring Gospel Of The Horns, Ignivomous and Order Of Orias will take place at The Tote in Collingwood, Melbourne, on February 16th, with doors opening at 9pm.
Australian chaotic expressionistic death metal nightmare PORTAL are currently putting the (very) finishing touches on their dreaded anticipated follow-up to “Seepia”, which will be entitled “Outre."
Their label, Profiound Lore Records states in their release: "More experimental, unconventional, atmospheric, alien, and disturbing “Outre” sees Portal going further within the pollution stage of their warped sound canvas by conjuring up their un-easiest and most challenging album yet. One in which will simply alienate Portal even more within the underground extreme music scene. With cover art by the unique artist Jeff Lowe, and plans for a special kind of package to house this new warped abomination, expect “Outre” to bring a new face of horror onto death metal."
Some song titles set to appear on “Outre”: ‘Abysmill’, ‘Heirships’, ’13 Globes’, and ‘Sourlows’. Expect “Outre” to entice sometime late September.
