Aonia just checked in with the following statement about having members appear on the upcoming Blaze Bayley full-length release:
"We are extremely excited and proud to announce that our two lovely leading ladies, Jo and Mel, have been recording vocals for Blaze Bayley's new album!
"In May of 2015 we put on our own festival, Aonia Fest (organised by Feralworld Music), which was headlined by Blaze Bayley. During our own set, Blaze performed the Iron Maiden classic 'Man on the Edge' with us, which was an amazing experience for all of us.
"After the gig, Blaze was so impressed that he contacted us about Jo and Mel recording some vocals on his up-and-coming new release. Yesterday that came to fruition and we can honestly say after hearing the tracks that Jo an Mel are on, that this will be a phenomenal metal album (and not just because Jo and Mel are on it!)
"There are some other exciting developments that are currently in the formation stages and we will announce these when we can give more concrete details. Blaze's new album, titled 'Infinite Entanglement,' is the first part of a trilogy of albums and will go on sale 1st March 2016." More...

Washington, DC-based heavy metallers A Sound of Thunder have begun work on their third full-length album entitled "Time's Arrow." The band has entered Assembly Line Studios with producer Kevin "131" Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Raven). With the same band line-up, producer, and studio that created 2012' "Out of the Darkness" (reviewed here), "Time's Arrow "features 11 new songs combining rousing and catchy traditional metal with crushing modern production. "Time's Arrow" will release in early 2013 and is the subject of the band's current Kickstarter campaign.
Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden, Wolfsbane) makes an appearance on the album, performing a duet with vocalist Nina Osegueda on the track "My Disease." Guitarist Josh Schwartz comments, "Blaze is a legendary figure in the history of metal, but more importantly he brings incredible power, passion and sincerity to his performances, and that's exactly what we needed on this song. Musically it has little in common with Maiden, and sounds more like a cross between Black Sabbath and Blaze's first few solo albums...and of course A Sound of Thunder."
Bayley also commented: "It has been a real pleasure to work on this song. Filled with passion and intensity, it has an edge. I wish A Sound of Thunder the very best of luck with their project, but with a song this good, I don't think they will need luck."
On August 20th, 2012 A Sound of Thunder started a Kickstarter.com fundraiser campaign for the recording of "Time's Arrow." The campaign will run for 30 days and offers fans a chance to pre-order the album, have their name printed in the album booklet, reserve an ultra-limited box set edition of the album, and acquire unique and rare items from the band. Video at the band's Kickstarter page contains the first clips from the new album. More...

The organizers of the East Riding Rock 2010 festival, which was scheduled to take place from July 16th - 18th, have issued the following update about canceling the festival:
"It is with great regret that we have to announce that the 2010 East Riding rock festival has been canceled, we were going to put a statement up this weekend once we had ensured all the bands had heard, but as usual someone got wind on Facebook and quite frankly couldn't hold their own piss and blabbed it everywhere. The reasons behind this are spiraling costs and poor pre-festival ticket sales, we can't even cover our pre-festival overheads ( some of which we will still have to pay from our own pockets).
"Anyone who has bought a ticket will receive a full refund! It will take us a few weeks to sort this out so please be patient but rest assured no one will be ripped off. Any band who hasn't had a personal email yet they are on the way this is a hasty blog to stay any rumors that a flying around. there will be a longer full statement in due course. Once again we are sorry that it has come to this but financially the festival was unavailable." More...

Charlie Benante (Anthrax): "The first time I heard Ronnie James Dio, I thought he was a large person, The voice was so huge. It was Rainbow and he was the singer. I was a fan of his from then on. I followed him with Rainbow, Sabbath, Dio, etc. From 'Man On The Silver Mountain', 'Heaven And Hell', 'Rainbow In The Dark'... the songs are endless. The sound of his voice with those bands was always so perfect. It was his god-given instrument. He was true metal and the creator of the metal hand sign. Thank you for the music. He was divine."
Blaze Bayley (Solo artist, former Iron Maiden and Wolfsbane): "Very saddened by the news of the passing of Ronnie James Dio. He was the inspiration for me to start singing and join a metal band after seeing him perform in Birmingham Odeon many many years ago on the Holy Diver tour. My thoughts are with Wendy and the family. On the few occasions I met Ronnie, he was an absolute gentleman, hero and superstar and an example to us all. Thank you, Ronnie, for your wonderful work. Rest in peace."

In a recent update, former Iron Maiden and Wolfsbane vocalist Blaze Bayley has revealed that his solo band was recently harassed and attacked after performing a concert in Agrino, Greece. Two men reportedly hit a member of the band's entourage with their scooter before following them back to their van and throwing a brick through their window. An account from Bayley himself reads as follows:
"Agrinio was crazy - a really intimate packed-out gig with plenty of crazy fans and the odd crowd-surfer.
"After the fantastic gig we stopped on the way back to the hotel at a late-night pie shop. I was talking to support act Fury UK's manager when two drugged-up youths on a scooter drove towards him.
"I grabbed him out of the way so he wasn't hurt, just dazed. The scooter boys seemed to think it was our fault - but we'd been standing at the side of the road and they were coming at us at 30 miles an hour.
"It didn't stop there - they followed our van, and at traffic lights the weedy-looking one on the back managed to throw a large brick, shattering the side window and narrowly missing our manager. Lucky for us, no one was seriously hurt. The cowards ran away before we could clobber them. It was a horrible end to a great night.
"Now all the money from the gig goes towards replacing the van window. It hasn't put me off Greece - but I never thought pies would be so dangerous."
Blaze Bayley, the former lead vocalist of Wolfsbane and Iron Maiden, has posted an update regarding his latest solo album, "Promise And Terror." The message reads as follows:
"I’m blogging, yay!
"I’m here with Jase Edwards at his Majestic Splendour studio mixing our new album. Jase is doing almost all the important work, while I mostly interrupt and say things like, ooh that’s heavy, or what does that big button do? Occasionally my experience leads me to say something useful but really most of the work now is down to Jase.
"Jase gave all of us a very rough mix of most of the songs a couple of weeks ago and we all made notes about parts of our performance and what kind of production we had in mind for each song and he is going through the songs incorporating those ideas alongside his own sense of how the album should tell its musical stories.
