Below is our complete Black Cobra news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of Black Cobra. The American sludge metal band will enter the studio in the near future to record an album slated for a late 2015 release. Black Cobra had this to say:
"We are very excited to be on Season of Mist with such a great group of people and an amazing roster of diverse artists. We will be entering the studio in the next couple months to record our new album. We are super stoked on the new tracks and cannot wait for you guys to hear them."
Black Cobra was formed in 2001 by guitarist and vocalist Jason Landrian (ex-Cavity), who was joined by Rafael Martinez (ex-Acid King, 16, Gammera). The duo exploded from the underground with a scathing take on hardcore-fuelled sludge metal. After the release of 4 full lengths, Black Cobra has leveled venues across the United States and internationally alongside such cult acts as High On Fire, Weedeater, Pelican, The Sword, Yob, Sleep, Torche, Kyuss Lives, and more.
Fresh off of the first wave of the "Desanctifying North America" 2014 tour in support of the band's third LP, "Clawing Into Black Sun," Wolvhammer will embark on the next subdivision of the trek at the end of this month, with West Coast devastation planned.
Having stormed the East Coast/Midwest U.S. with support from Mortals in recent weeks on the first installment of the tour, the "Desanctifying North America 2014 Part II" will run from November 30th through December 18th. See the band live with Black Cobra:

Having independently released the "Self Titled" debut LP (yeah, it's actually named that) earlier this year, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania-based trio Secret Cutter is now set on devouring fans and unsuspecting victims in the live setting throughout the region and beyond in support of the LP.
Secret Cutter's latest live itinerary includes the band's confirmed inclusion in the upcoming Brooklyn-based Uninvited Fest, a massive four-day event to take place in Gowanus, Brooklyn, running from September 18th through 21st.
The festival is set to transform a section of the neighborhood into an outdoor community for artists, musicians, motorcycle enthusiasts, and skateboarders with live music, food, booze, vendors, cinema, DJs, open skate sessions on a sponsored ramp setup and more.
Uninvited Fest sees Secret Cutter listed among Mothership, Captain Beyond, Subrosa, Mount Salem, The Skull, Black Cobra, Sasquatch, Lo Pan, Orchid, The Shrine, Lecherous Gaze, Weedeater, Elder and many others among the list of bands confirmed to perform.
Additionally, Secret Cutter is set to shred Allentown with a headlining show this Thursday, August 28th. Additional live actions will be announced throughout the coming weeks and the rest of 2014 as Secret Cutter continues to write new material for a next release.

Ohio volume squad Lo-Pan is readying to take to the streets again on a mammoth live excursion alongside San Francisco's Black Cobra.
The journey will commence in Phoenix on August 18th and wind through nearly three dozen cities, coming to a close in Oakland on October 2nd. Comments the band:
"Lo-Pan is proud to be doing our part to support the oil and gas industry of America! Land of the Free home of the Brave. Seriously though anyone have an unlimited gas card they want to donate to our mission from god? Also, Black Cobra rules and we are very excited to support them on this trek."
The tour comes in advance of the band's forthcoming full-length, "Colossus," named for the Colossus of Rhodes: a ninety-six-foot statue of the Greek titan-god of the sun, Helios, constructed in 280 BC to mark a failed siege and the indomitable nature of the Greek city of Rhodes itself. "Colossus" will be released via Small Stone October 7th, 2014. Further details including track teasers and preorder links to be announced in the coming weeks. More...
After being denied entry to Canada for a tour, Black Cobra today announces a more than month-long U.S. trek, set to begin in late August and running into the beginning of October.
With thirty-two cities confirmed to endure the Black Cobra live treatment at press time, the actions begin in Phoenix, Arizona on August 28th. Direct support for Black Cobra on all dates will be provided by Ohio riff rock quartet, Lo Pan.

San Francisco's Black Cobra has unfortunately been denied access into the United States' northern neighboring country.
While amidst its current North American tour -- which was nearly entirely comprised of Canadian dates with Black Cobra co-headlining alongside Anciients and opening support from Black Wizard and Lo Pan -- the band was denied entry into the country.
Having invested thousands of dollars into merch for the tour, the band decided to tough it out and try again at a different access point, where again Black Cobra was denied, with no explanation, and after thorough inspections of vehicle and gear. This forced the band to return to California instead of performing in more than twenty cities across Canada.
Black Cobra today issued the following collective statement to their fans on the debacle: "As many of you already know, we were denied entry at the border of Canada. Because of the financial strain this has put on us, we were forced to cancel the remaining tour dates in the US as well. In the meantime, we will continue working on our forthcoming record and are looking into booking another tour in the US. We apologize to our fans and thank you for your continued support."
New U.S. Black Cobra tour actions will be confirmed immediately and announced in the coming days; no Canadian dates will be scheduled. Stay tuned for further transmissions.
Lo-Pan has issued the following announcement about canceling an upcoming live show set to take place with Black Cobra:
"Unfortunately our show in Chicago tomorrow with Black Cobra has been cancelled. The Black Cobra boys got turned away at the Canadian border a couple of days back and it put a damper on the rest of their tour dates. Sorry, everyone. Safe travels to BC and we will see you all again soon."
The scheduled itinerary, which is apparently scrapped although there has been no official word from Black Cobra, was to be as follows: More...

The decimating metal/sludge duo that is Black Cobra has crawled out of the shadows for the band's first shows since two one-off cross-continental gigs in January, proclaiming an upcoming May decimation of the West Coast.
The newly planned five-day, five-city run will originate in Black Cobra's San Francisco hometown on May 22nd, then systematically shred through Fresno, Pacifica, Portland and Seattle. Black Cobra, the devastatingly heavy duo hailing from the bay area and backed by Southern Lord Recordings, has been added to Stumpfest 2014.
Black Cobra's recent album, "Invernal," was described by The Sleeping Shaman as "the sound of a schizophrenic octopus, high on speed, hard liquor and murderous hatred trapped inside the body of a man locked in a darkened jail cell."
The three-day festival, organized by Rynne Stump, will churn out heavy tunes from the city's legendary metal acts and their closest friends at Mississippi Studios on April 24th - 26th. Links for prices and more info through the venue website will be provided in two weeks, so stay tuned! The currently announced Stumpfest lineup features: More...
The tonally decimating San Francisco-based gruesome twosome known as Black Cobra has announced a cross-country invasion just days after the start of the New Year.
On Friday, January 3rd the serpent will uncoil at an exclusive one-off East Coast rager as the band once again destroys Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn with several local support acts unreleased at press time.
Immediately after once again raging in Brooklyn, Black Cobra is set to perform the following night at a benefit show for rock/metal poster artist Alan Forbes (The Black Crowes, The Misfits, Black Cobra 's Chronomega LP, etc.). In October, Forbes was attacked in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco, which left him with two skull fractures and damage to his right eye. As the artist is uninsured several benefit actions have been formed to aid in covering his growing medical expenses, including this event on January 4th where Black Cobra will headline with support from Lecherous Gaze, Pins of Light. and Kicker.
Black Cobra is currently constructing new material and additional news on the band's plans for 2014 will be announced in the coming weeks.

Metallic sludge innovators Black Cobra have today released their new video for “Crimson Blade,” the first official video to be released from their 2011 "Invernal" LP. The following press release was issued about the video:
"Conceived/constructed by the band themselves and director Greg Downing (of bands Glitter Wizard and Buffalo Tooth), Black Cobra's 'Crimson Blade' filmed in three days for absolutely no money. The plot portrays the concept of the song, following one man as he devolves to a previous state of humanity and resorts to cannibalism in a post-apocalyptic world. During the filming of the gory visual depiction, actor Landon Bates actually ended up accidentally cutting himself multiple times, with actual wounds fueling some of the bloody scenes."
Stated the members of Black Cobra: “The video’s concept was a collaboration between director Greg Downing and ourselves. We were familiar with his work in the bands Glitter Wizard and Buffalo Tooth and he was enthusiastic about working with us as well. In general, it's about isolation, paranoia and desperation. The utter darkness also gives it an overall feel of confusion. We're really stoked on how it came together.”
Watch the gnarly, frozen carnage of “The Crimson Blade” unfold via the horror-fanatics at Rue Morgue Magazine at this location or in the player below. You can also catch Black Cobra live on the following dates:
8/30/2012 Los Globos - Los Angeles CA w/ Saviours, Behold the Monolith, Secrets of The Sky

Thunderous sludge metal duo Black Cobra has returned to the band's hometown in San Francisco to recuperate from a seemingly endless bout of heavy-duty touring across multiple continents in support of fourth LP "Invernal." The band surpassed playing its 600th show since the release of debut LP "Bestial" in 2006 on the recent set of tour dates.
While the bands plan on staying off the road for the coming months, Black Cobra shall remain far from dormant during that time. Black Cobra issued a statement this week with some info on what is to come:
"It's been a really killer few months, but it's also good to be home. We have some stuff coming up on the horizon during the rest of the year though. The Japanese release of Invernal should be on its way soon, and a video for 'The Crimson Blade' is in the works. We're definitely going to keep moving."
This month Black Cobra was also featured on Fox News Latino. Check out the coverage at this location and also watch a full 'Cobra set from Saint Vitus bar in Brooklyn via Metal Injection or in the player below. More...
Crushing Bay Area duo Black Cobra has devastated audiences across Europe for several weeks -- including a performance at the massive annual Roadburn Festival in Holland this past weekend -- with the tour coming to a close in Helsinki, Finland tonight. Following the current tour the band will traverse the globe to undertake a second tour of Australia and first of New Zealand, with several headlining shows planned in addition to a stack of performances as direct support for stoner rock legends Fu Manchu.
Upon returning from the tour of New Zealand and Australia, Black Cobra will hit the highways of the U.S. once again, taking on a slew of newly-confirmed headlining shows -- mostly alongside Salt Lake City's grind unit Gaza -- both bands on their way to link up with Torche and Corrosion of Conformity for a massive North American June tour together. Post-tour, Black Cobra and Gaza will head back out on another run of dates together, once again with BC headlining.
Black Cobra New Zealand/Australia Tour w/ Fu Manchu: More...
Following devastating shows at SXSW last week -- both as part of the massive ToneDeaf Touring showcase as well as the Southern Lord/TPOTR/Brooklyn Vegan rager -- Black Cobra has just confirmed a Spring tour of New Zealand and Australia with stoner rock icons Fu Manchu. The trek hits three cities in New Zealand then skips over to Australia for another eight shows, with several of the appearances confirmed as Black Cobra headlining shows without Fu Manchu.
This all comes in addition to the previously announced forthcoming Black Cobra tour actions including supporting Corrosion of Conformity through Europe alongside Zoroaster in April on the way to the annual Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland directly before the new tour, as well as massive North American tour supporting COC once again, along with Torche and Gaza later in the Summer.

After Pallbearer marched its audience toward a giant, gaping abyss at ND, I hustled a couple blocks west to Dirty Dog Bar. I learned an important lesson last year: If you don’t have a badge or wrist band, show up early to ensure you get into the venue. Last year, I showed up a band or two into the Metal Alliance show and missed Saint Vitus and Crowbar. Once the doors opened, the bar’s staff allowed a few badge and wrist-band holders in first and then opened the flood gates to everyone else.
The Atlas Moth did not bide its time in leisurely boredom like me. The Chicago-based space sludge masters were busy setting up for their second show in the span of a couple of hours. The group filled in the vacancy left by Rwake, who also bowed out of The Atlas Moth’s earlier show. Without their planetary light show that illuminated ND’s, The Atlas Moth’s performance was not as visually stunning. Their keyboards, effects and coarse tones updated the flowery texture of traditional psychedelia. Although they call Profound Lore home, The Atlas Moth could fit right in on Neurosis’ Neurot label.
