Below is our complete Trap Them news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
After my struggles to stay awake the previous night, I slept in late so I wouldn’t be exhausted for the rest of SXSW.
I made it out to an afternoon session “Website? Get Real. You Need A Web Empire.” It was a decent talk about not only the band’s website as a central hub, but all of the social media and mobile presence that bands should work on to build their audience. There were some tips given on marketing and SEO and various related topics as well, but overall, I felt the title was a little misleading. They discussed some services such as cashmusic, bandcamp, and Topspin as well. It was an ok discussion overall, but I only learned a few tidbits here and there that I didn’t know already.
From there, I was headed over to Emo’s once again. On the way, I ran into San Francisco violin, cello and drums trio Judgement Day playing acoustically at a street corner. I stopped to shoot a few photos and hear a song, bought a CD and then was on my way. I hoped to catch them amped the following night at a proper show. More...

On Monday, Trap Them will convene in Salem, Mass. at Godcity Studio with Kurt Ballou (Converge, Disfear, Black Breath) to commence recording the band's Prosthetic Records' debut (and third full-length album overall). This will be their first full-length to feature drummer Chris Maggio, formerly of Coliseum. The band has also launched a new blog where the members will be documenting the recording process and the touring cycle around this as-yet-untitled album.
Vocalist Ryan McKenny commented: "Next week, and for the rest of September, we get knee deep in the shit. This record has been a long time coming. It's the first, what we consider, proper LP as a full, solid band. Brian and Chris have been hard at work sweating bullets down in Louisville, loading them up in a death-punk black talon and preparing to fire at will.
"This will be our fifth visit to Godcity with Kurt Ballou, who was, naturally, the most obvious choice. We've always had a great relationship with him, and there is a certain chemistry between our music and his talent as a producer that puts each session at ease. To sum it up, there was a certain potential the members of this band felt had not yet been met. On this record, that potential has been fully realized. Get heavy, motherfuckers."
Early Graves is the latest act confirmed for the upcoming Power of the Riff festival, which will take place on August 8th, 2010 at The Echo and Echoplex in Los Angeles, CA. Early Graves issued the following announcement about the festival:
"In Association with Scion and Spaceland Productions All Ages / Free Admission Currated by Greg Anderson (SunnO))) / Southern Lord) and Sam James Velde (Night Horse) with the intent to blur the lines between Metal, Hardcore, Punk and Rock music. To celebrate and encourage the cross over of genres and to dispel the common homogeny that exists within today's music cultures. A free event that honors fans and musicians of 'heavy music' of all ages. Tapping into a line up that represents the forefathers, milestones and current touring acts such as Repulsion, Corrosion Of Conformity, From Ashes Rise, Trap Them, Coliseum and Goatsnake. While Shedding light on 'up and coming' acts such as Nails, The Fucking Wrath, Night Horse, Eagle Twin and Black Breath to name a few."
Trap Them has issued the following update regarding the cancellation of their Australian tour dates:
"Due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, we will not be going to Australia in January with Every Time I Die. We are in the process of rescheduling and we'll see you all as soon as possible."

Prosthetic Records has signed Seattle's Trap Them. Before entering the studio to record their Prosthetic debut, due in the first half of 2010, the band will be releasing an EP through Southern Lord Records.
The band commented on the signing, "After a few months of very positive talks, we are proud to announce we have signed with Prosthetic Records. This is a step forward for the band and a move that opens up a lot of doors that we have not yet explored in the last three years of distortion. Prosthetic has been supportive of Trap Them's modus operandi for quite some time, just as we have a great respect for the high standards in which their label is run." More...
Tony, vocalist for Municipal Waste, checked in to talk about their last tour with Lamb of God and the upcoming Scion Rock Fest with Trap Them.
"Greetings! Tony here checking in from Richmond to let you know what's new with the MUNICIPAL WASTE camp. We just got back in town 2 weeks ago from our 6 week long tour with Lamb of God. The tour was so much fun and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people for coming out and supporting us as well as the bands on the tour for making it such a good time. We
made some great friends and did a lot of "time traveling" with them across the country.
We have a lot of exciting stuff planned this summer and the first thing we have up to bat is a Scion-sponsored show in L.A. on June 10th. We are really looking forward to playing a headlining show and to get our new songs out there to people. We are really fired up about this gig and plan to "go big" on this one so DON'T MISS IT! You will not be disappointed."
Trap Them announced that they will be playing a free show with Municipal Waste for the Scion Metal Show in Los Angeles. It's on June 10th at the Knitting Factory. All you have to do is RSVP, which you can do here. Space is limited, so if you're in the area, RSVP soon.
