Latest Emerald News
Below is our complete Emerald news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Swiss power metal act has named Aska vocalist George Call (ex-Omen) as its new vocalist, replacing Thomas Winkler, who left in 2013 to front Gloryhammer full time.
The announcement reads: "Amongst many great candidates, we finally found the perfect singer for our sound! Many of you may already know him! It's the great…….. (drum roll)…………. GEORGE CALL (Aska, ex-Omen)!!!
"We are beyond happy that one of the greatest metal singers of our times is now a part of our band! It's gonna be a whole new experience working with a singer that lives overseas, but everyone who has already heard his amazing voice knows it will be totally worth it! Just listen to his vocals on our song 'Eye of the Serpent'" [heard in the player below]
George Call commented: "It came to be that Emerald were in the unenviable position of having to look for a singer. They thought I was far too busy but I'm glad we talked because our collaboration on the song 'Eye of the Serpent' was, bar none, among the best songs in all of Metaldom in 2013. How could we not possibly further explore that potential? I met the guys, their wives and girlfriends when we performed together in their native Switzerland on tour some years earlier and we hit it off magnificently. We nurtured a friendship and mutual camaraderie which now takes one further evolutionary step, sprouting wings as we combine our respective talents and seek to take Emerald to new heights of Metal glory. Hail!"

Swiss heavy metal outfit Emerald has released a video clip announcing the band is still seeking a new vocalist, which can be seen below. Emerald also comments:
"The search for a new singer turned out to be much harder than expected. That's why we had to call in the 'Emerald Girls' once more to help us on our quest… Enjoy the video and please help us by sharing it and spreading the word!"
Behind the scenes photos from the video shoot can also be found at the Emerald Facebook page.
Thomas Winkler (Gloryhammer) has split with Swiss metal act Emerald. In a statement on Winkler's Facebook Page, he reported: "To focus on Gloryhammer and my job as a notary public I have decided to leave the Swiss Heavy Metal act Emerald. I will perform all previously confirmed gigs with the band until the end of the year and hope that this band carries on -- with a new singer."
The band is accepting submissions for the open vocalist position via the following announcement:
"Thomas L. Winkler decided to leave Emerald. He will still perform all previously confirmed gigs with us. After that he wants to mainly concentrate on his new job. We wish him good luck with that!
"In the meantime we're looking for a talented and motivated new singer (male or female).
"Do you got a powerful voice and want to take our sound to a new level? Would you like to sing in a well-rehearsed band with a record deal and an international booking agency? Or do you know anyone who would fit the profile?

He recorded the drums for the new album 'Hymns to Steel' (release is planned for September) and will play a last concert with EMERALD in autumn after the release of the new album (at the release party).
