California heavy metal outfit Cage has issued the following announcement about releasing an upcoming new album:
"We are proud to announce the title of our 7th studio album: ANCIENT EVIL.
"The album is a horror concept project that is based on a 45,000 word manuscript written by our own Sean Peck. The story takes place in 1869 London England and is heavily influenced by H.P. Lovecraft's writings. The book will be available along with the CD this Summer.
"The album is over halfway recorded and channels all the best of Cage with some obvious King Diamond influences as well. It is a massive undertaking that will have you metal heads cranking it in the dark with candles lit!"
Further details on the album are forthcoming.
San Diego act Cage is returning to the stage from an 18 month hiatus with an all new lineup. This long running heavy metal band of 21 years re-emerges with original members Sean Peck and Dave Garcia and three new additions.
First is Sean Elg, drummer from So Cal thrasher Nihilist. "This guy doesn’t stop! He is a machine!" says Dave Garcia. "He has played literally thousands of shows and just loves metal. We dig that about him."
Next up is Dwight Magic, bass player from the band Detonated. "He plays a six string fretless bass and has committed his soul to that instrument and the art of metal itself I tell you! He is by far the most skilled guy we have ever had at the position and is a great writer too," says Peck. More...
Australia's Empires Of Eden released a rendition of "We Three Kings" for the holiday season. The song is available for purchase on iTunes for a limited time. All proceeds from the song will go to the "Metal For Cancer" charity. The song was mixed by guitarist Stu Marshall and sung by Cage vocalist Sean Peck.
Stu Marshall commented on the song: "This track came into being when I was hanging with Sean in California on a recent trip. It seemed a great way to honour a great song and at the same time offer something positive towards the fight for Cancer. The usual covers of Christmas carols are fairly comical and we wanted to take it the other way, much heavier and dramatic. Working with Sean on the last EOE cd was an incredible experience so it was natural for us to work on this."
Sean Peck added his comments: "Cancer has affected all of our lives directly or indirectly and we would encourage all metal heads to take the time to give just a small donation towards defeating this killer."

San Diego metal band Cage has issued the following update:
"Massive CAGE happennings going on. Soon the myspace page will go under the knife as the Wicked Alice Kilne does some magic to it so look for that. Next the DVD is almost finished packed with all kinds of met suprises. We are deep in the writing and recording process of the next cd. 8 songs are near done but we are crushing much more into the process. To follow up science is quite a task so we are making sure the songs are up to the task. More on that later we do not want to reveal too much now. We have been playing the new song WAR OF THE UNDEAD out live and it has been a balst seeing the fans reaction to it. Anyone who has not seen the new CAGE lineup live has to make a point to get out and witness the rampaging metal assault between the sound and sights it is killing it! So stay tuned as the CAGE universe is expanding and the AMERICAN POWER METAL KINGS are on the move!"
CAGE has announced the departure of long time bassist and lead guitarist. Founding bassist Mike Giordano and lead guitarist Anthony Wayne McGinnis have recently exited CAGE. Mike departed due to medical reasons and Anthony for family reasons.
Replacing Mike is monster bassist Steve Brogden, who is the lead guitarist / vocalist for the aggressive power thrash metal band HOWLER. Replacing Anthony is shredding lead guitarist Garrett Peters of the melodic death metal band CLIMHAZZARD and punk metal band SAYAKA.
CAGE vocalist Sean Peck comments, "All of us in CAGE would like to sincerely thank Mike G. and Anthony for the years of dedication and devotion to the band. There are lots of great memories that we shared as we rocked around the world together. They will always be a part of who we are as a band and they both will be sorely missed. As we move forward with Steve Brogden and Garrett Peters, there is a killer level of excitement and enthusiasm as with anything new and fresh. We have already been writing together with the new lineup and cannot wait to get to Largo, Florida on April 30thto unleash the beast at "SWORDFEST ". More...
Pittsburgh melodic metal band ICARUS WITCH has announced a change in their lead vocalist. In a statement from the band's official site they explained the situation:
"We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the ICARUS WITCH circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew's contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures."
Incoming vocalist and Erie, Pennsylvania native Shaner is a long time friend and collaborator of guitarist Quinn Lukas. Before Quinn moved to Pittsburgh to join ICARUS WITCH in 2006, he had worked on various musical projects with the singer. Much like the recent acquisition of second guitarist Ed Skero, the choice to add Christopher to the band was based on a combination of what he brings to the lineup personally, musically and professionally. His powerful vocal range, sense of harmony and intense work ethic are a perfect fit for the next phase of this band. Writing for the follow-up to Draw Down The Moon has already commenced with the new recruits and it promises to be the band's most diverse, melodic and epic release ever. More...
