Urgehal To Record Final Album

Norwegian black metallers Urgehal have issued the following statement about recording a new album:

“Trondr Nefas left us all in May 2012. For Urgehal this meant the loss of our great friend and brother in arms. Therefore it is a very special announcement for us remaining members to tell you that the final Urgehal album is now being recorded.

“We have decided to finish this last album in honour of our dear friend and to mark the end of Urgehal. Trondr was looking much forward to enter the studio once again and we had already done all demo recordings for the whole album before his death.

“Nothing else remains to be done but to finish what Trondr and we had already started together. We owe this to him and his memory.

“Drums and guitars were recorded earlier this year and in October we entered the studio for the first vocal session of many. The songs will be sung by several close friends of Trondr Nefas and the band. We will reveal those names in due time.” More...

Urgehal Issues Statement On Death Of Vocalist

It was announced last month that Urgehal guitarist/vocalist Trondr Nefas had passed away, and the band has now issued the following statement about his death:

"Trondr Nefas, our dearest friend and companion for more than 20 years, suddenly passed away last month. He died a peaceful and natural death at one of his favorite places, surrounded by woods and crystal lakes.

"Thanks for all the years with friendship, music and madness. For the good times and the bad times.

"Through your dark devotion for black metal, you have inspired so many. You were a true pioneer. We will miss you, but never forget you, because your legacy will live on.

"Our deepest sympathy goes to Trond's fiancée Octavia, and both of their families. We appreciate all of the condolences and support given to us after his tragic death.

"Sammen var vi dynamitt!!!"

Urgehal Vocalist Trondr Nefas Dead At 35

Season of Mist Records reported that guitarist/vocalist Trondr Nefas of the Norwegian black metal band Urgehal has died suddenly at the age of 35. No news as to the cause of death was released as of yet. In a post on the label's Facebook page, it was stated: "We are deeply sorry to announce that URGEHAL guitarist/vocalist Trondr Nefas just passed away. More news and official statement to follow soon. RIP."

Nefas also played with Beastcraft (as Alastor Nefas), Bloodsworn, Endezzm, In Lingua Mortua, Vulture Lord, Angst Skvadron (As T.B.) and Kvist. Ironically, the last release from Urgehal was the 7" "Death Is Complete" released in January 2011 through Folter Records.

Nefas also provided a guest solo for Italian black metal band So Much For Nothing's track "My Previous," which was released on My Kingdom Music earlier this year. Owner and general manager of My Kingdom Music, Francesco Palumbo, has these comments on the passing of Nefas:

"It's a sad day for many Black souls because Trondr Nefas's death. A few one knows him as a great man, a lot of you knows him for his great talent and music in URGEHAL, BEASTCRAFT and other great acts and some of you have listened to his great musical talent because he played a great guitar solo in the song 'My Precious' available in the SO MUCH FOR NOTHING album "Livsgnist" released by my label. That's the personal reason I want to show with this my being close to his family, girlfriend, his fellow musicians in Urgehal, Angst Skvadron and Beastcraft and of course to Erik and Jarle from 'my' SO MUCH FOR NOTHING! Rest in peace!!!"

More news on the death is expected shortly. More...

Urgehal Comments On Silesian Massacre Fest

Norway's Urgehal has issued the following statement about missing the band's previously scheduled appearance at the Silesian Massacre festival:

"Comrades! Unfortunatly we're back from Oslo airport. The organizer claimed he booked flight tickets, but when we arrived at the airport nothing was booked. Same shit happened to DHG.

"Basically everything turned out to be a lie and a rip-off. We strongly advice other bands not to collaborate with this man since he obviously have no clue how to organize a festival.

"We were looking forward to desecrate the Polish soil after 5 years of absence. Don't worry, we will be back somewhere in time. Hail the Polish Black Metal Militia... You know who you are!!!"

Urgehal was also recently included on Metalhit.com's free download series. More details are available at this location.

Urgehal Streaming Two New Songs

Norway's Urgehal has issued the following announcement about streaming two new songs online through the band's MySpace profile:

"2 new tracks! Alright! The two new added tracks are taken from the upcoming 7" which is a tribute to old dirty fucking Black Metal. The reason for the sloppy drumming on the song 'Death Is Complete' is that Trondr Nefas did it himself after not having played drums on a regular basis since '97.

"These two songs are staying here for a short while and the necro release is due after 'Happy New Year.' So just drop dead or fuck off!"
